Chapter 61 - The "Ghoul"

Allen, quite naturally, had no idea that a mere touch had led to his location being strangely tracked and locked down by the woman.

Even if he knew, he wouldn't be overly concerned.

In his current state, he didn't fear being tracked, much less anyone coming to cause trouble for him.

On the contrary, he actually hoped that a large number of Nen users with strong hostility would willingly come to him. That way, he would have more cocoons to feed his Red Dragon, Vaelstrasz.

After a six-hour drive, the two finally arrived at the city where Zebulun the "Ghoul" was located.

By utilizing the map's half-hourly refresh rate, they quickly locked onto the target on the second floor of a building near the slums.

The man was small and looked somewhat frail, but his eyes were full of twisted madness, just as depicted in the wanted poster.

The only problem was that Zebulun was not alone in the room; there was also a woman, barely twenty years old, tied to the bed. Her entire body was so tortured and abused that there wasn't a patch of undamaged skin, and she was curled up, constantly sobbing and twitching.

"This scumbag deserves to be torn to pieces!" Bouldro slammed down the binoculars he was holding, clenching his fists and suppressing his rage as he growled.

"Mm. You're right. This scumbag deserves to be torn to pieces." Allen nodded, his expression dark.

Since both of them were Nen users, they were particularly sensitive to Aura, allowing them to intensely perceive the incomparably wicked, deep, twisted, and pathological Nen emanating from that bastard nearby.

If they had arrived even a few hours later, the victim in the room would likely have been tortured to death, and by the time she was discovered, her body would probably have already begun to rot and smell.

It couldn't be helped.

When Nen users start committing evil, the regular police primarily responsible for maintaining social order are completely powerless.

This is why the existence of the Hunter Association is recognized and supported by over ninety-five percent of the world's countries and regions, even allowing them to perform a series of actions—such as cross-border apprehension, interrogation, and execution, that supersede the law, all based on a mere license.

After briefly observing the surrounding environment and the possible escape routes, Allen decisively spoke to the martial artist beside him: "Our current location is about a hundred and fifty meters away from that house. That means when we get within a hundred meters, the tracking map will immediately appear in his hand. So, to ensure the victim's safety, I must use Aura Burst to charge straight in and separate Zebulun from the victim. You follow me in to protect and rescue the girl. Is that clear?"

"No problem! Leave it to me!" Bouldro agreed without hesitation.

"Good! I'll count to three, and we move together. One, two, three, charge!"

The instant the countdown ended, Allen leaped down from the roof of the multi-story building and, while in mid-air, suddenly activated his Emission-type Nen ability—Aura Burst.

The next second...

BOOM!

The deafening crash instantly shattered all the surrounding glass!

He himself became like a meteor, flying over a hundred meters in less than a second, and, protected by Ko, smashed directly through the wall.

Simultaneously, a marked map materialized out of thin air in Zebulun's hand.

He instantly realized the severity of the situation and immediately activated his Nen ability—the "Ghoul."

The slightly frail, small man's muscles bulged, a layer of horn-like keratin, resembling old calluses, grew over his entire body, his hands and feet slowly morphed into claws, and his mouth became twice as large as before, with his teeth growing similarly sharp and pointed.

Just as his transformation finished, Allen's punch arrived.

Bang!

There was no suspense.

Zebulun was immediately knocked flying, slamming hard into a concrete load-bearing wall.

With another earth-shattering BOOM, the entire wall crumbled and shattered, sending bricks, stones, and steel rebar scattering everywhere.

Under such a terrifying impact, his chest cavity completely caved in, and his shoulder and one arm, which he had tried to use to block, were severely fractured.

For a normal person, these injuries would one hundred percent spell death.

However, Zebulun's ability, the Ghoul, clearly possessed extremely strong regenerative capabilities. In less than a few seconds, all the broken bones, torn skin, muscles, and internal organs completely returned to normal.

"An Enhancement Nen ability for self-healing?"

Allen was slightly surprised at the sight.

He had used Ryu to boost the Aura dedicated to the attack to nearly seventy percent for that punch.

Even if Hisoka took a hit without using Bungee Gum for defense and cushioning, he would likely be instantly killed.

Yet, this guy was able to rapidly repair a shattered heart and broken arm, making him seem almost immortal.

"Agh! That hurt! Bastard! Who the hell are you?"

Zebulun struggled to climb up from the ground, his entire face looking less like a human and more like some demon that had crawled out of hell.

"Good evening, Ghoul-san. I'm a Bounty Hunter here to bring you in. If you don't mind, could you please refrain from resisting? Because I'm in a foul mood right now, and if I have to fight, I might not be able to control my strength and could end up beating you to death," Allen suggested, squinting his eyes and feigning good intentions.

It was obvious without asking: he was interested in the man's ability.

"A Bounty Hunter? Hahahaha! Another self-righteous fool! Do you think you can defeat me, who has infinite regenerative ability?" Zebulun asked, roaring with laughter while baring his teeth.

"Whether I can or not, we'll only know if we try. Since you're so confident in your strength, how about we bet all of our Nen on this fight?"

As he spoke, Allen unleashed his enhanced perception-type En.

He had a premonition that the opponent's ability couldn't possibly be as simple as mere rapid recovery from injuries; otherwise, he would have been captured by other Bounty Hunters long ago.

But in reality?

The number of Bounty Hunters who had died at the hands of this pervert had exceeded ten, including a few One-Star and Two-Star Hunters.

"Oh? Is this a prerequisite for one of your abilities? Fine! Let's see who ends up eating whom!"

The moment the words left his mouth, Zebulun charged with a speed that was nearly imperceptible to the naked eye, swinging his clawed forelimbs and violently swiping at Allen's neck.

"The contract is established!"

Allen dodged with a flicker, using his superhuman agility to evade the blow, while simultaneously placing his finger into the mouth of Vaelstrasz, the Red Dragon.

The instant Zebulun's claw slammed onto the concrete floor, a huge spray of flying stones and debris scattered, and a deep scratch mark was gouged out.

In terms of sharpness and hardness alone, this was no less formidable than some famous swords or blades.

Interesting! Not only did his self-healing speed increase, but his speed and strength have also been enhanced? No, that's not right. The nails at the ends of his claws are unusual.

As a highly observant person, Allen, after a brief exchange, immediately realized that the opponent was not simply reinforcing a single aspect of himself. He must be using some unknown creature as a template for reference and simulated Enhancement.
