Chapter 38 - Fast and Furious

There is no doubt that the development of Nen abilities is often tied to the user's personal experiences. To some extent, it can even be said to reflect the truest aspects of their inner self, yet it is also closely linked to their imagination and knowledge base.

Regrettably, most Nen users in the Hunter x Hunter world are illiterate or semi-literate, spending their time and energy honing their bodies and spirits rather than engaging in theoretical study or learning the scientific foundations they deem useless.

This means that when developing their Nen abilities, these individuals are limited by their perspective and cognition, unable to push their abilities to the absolute limit.

But Allen was different.

He was a transmigrator who had received over a decade of comprehensive education in the modern scientific system. He was full of curiosity and interest in natural sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, and astronomy, and frequently browsed related knowledge and news on the internet.

He still vividly remembered his first time in a laboratory, completing the experiment on the three states of water under his teacher's guidance; a memory that remained fresh to this day.

This was why, upon confirming his innate affinity for Transmutation, he immediately locked his ability onto the morphological changes of matter.

By the same logic, when viewing Nen abilities, Allen possessed a perspective distinctly different from most people.

Under his guidance, Riehlvelt's ability advanced by leaps and bounds in just a few hours. He could now make the wheelchair beneath him achieve speeds comparable to a Formula 1 race car, with the agile turning and sudden braking capabilities of a motorcycle.

"Hehe, enjoy the last moments of your life. No matter how strong you become, you cannot escape the fate of becoming food for the Red Dragon."

Seeing the excitement and madness filling the other's face, Allen couldn't help but smile and shake his head. He placed a note filled with content about strengthening Nen abilities through Vows and Limitations on the ground, then turned and walked away alone.

Now, he could finally somewhat understand Hisoka's desire to cultivate strong opponents.

However, their goals were fundamentally different: one sought purely to enjoy the thrill and pleasure of combat, while the other hunted to become stronger himself.

Just like that, a day quickly passed.

The next day, the stands on the 200th floor of Heavens Arena were once again packed to capacity. Over sixty percent of the audience had come specifically to see the Red Dragon summoned at the end of the battle.

Of course, there were also some fervent female fans among them.

After all, among the numerous Nen fighters on the 200th floor, there were very few who possessed both good looks and strength like Allen.

Coupled with his youthful appearance and a fighting style that exuded an air of effortless cool, he naturally attracted extra attention from women.

"Such enthusiastic cheers! It seems you've already become a star player here. I wonder when I'll be qualified to stand up there and fight an unknown enemy," Bodoro remarked with a tone of envy.

"Don't be impatient. When you can clear all three areas within the time limit, I'll agree to let you stand in the ring for a one-on-one match against other contestants." Allen turned and glanced at the martial artist, who radiated intense fighting spirit.

As a witness, he knew very well what level Bodoro's current strength had reached.

Perhaps there was still a significant gap compared to the mass-murdering Phantom Troupe members, but he was already far stronger than those mediocre fighters on the 200th floor.

Especially with the Hatsu he had developed over the past two days using the time difference in the dungeon, he was moving in a direction similar to Chairman Netero's "100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva"—a complete set of fist techniques. He had currently developed up to the second move.

"Understood! I will double my efforts!"

Bodoro didn't dwell on the issue, nor would he ever disobey Allen's decisions. His attitude placed him completely in a subordinate position.

In his heart, he had decided that since his very life was given by Allen, the meaning of his remaining life was to do his utmost to become a qualified helper who wouldn't be a burden.

As the two conversed, the Heavens Arena referee finally appeared and raised both hands, signaling the fighters to step into the ring.

On the other side, the female commentator sitting in front of the microphone began announcing the detailed profiles and respective records of today's combatants to the audience.

However, none of this concerned Allen. He had focused his gaze and all his attention on the transformed Riehlvelt.

In a sense, today's match might be the first time since learning Nen that he needed to take things somewhat seriously.

After all, opponents with high-speed mobility were usually troublesome.

"Thank you for the note you left. It made me understand what Nen truly is and how to break through my own limits to become stronger in a short time," Riehlvelt said, breaking the silence first.

Allen responded with a smile, "You're welcome. I'm glad you used a Vow and Limitation to make your Nen stronger. Now, you have finally grown into the most valuable prey I've encountered so far."

"Prey? Are you sure you're still confident of winning this match after seeing my speed?" Riehlvelt narrowed his eyes, probing cautiously.

"Of course. If a Nen user cannot hold the resolve to win, they've already lost half the battle before it even starts. Besides, your ability was developed with my help; do you think I would be unsure?"

Saying this, Allen nodded to the referee nearby.

The latter immediately understood and loudly announced the start of the match.

The moment the final word left his lips, Riehlvelt instantly activated his ability, circling the ring at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye. Simultaneously, he infused his Aura into a metal tube embedded in his wheelchair, which was as thick as an arm.

The next second...

Boom!

A Nen bullet the size of an adult male's head blasted out from inside, flying toward Allen's location at extreme speed.

"Combining speed and long-range attacks? You really have developed a tactic quite suitable for yourself."

Allen critiqued as he sidestepped the Nen bullet, letting it smash into the barrier of the rear stands, instantly blasting out a massive crater.

"Hmph. Thanks to your guidance. Today I'll let you taste what it means to shoot yourself in the foot!" Riehlvelt sneered as he channeled Aura into the tubes on both the left and right sides of his wheelchair.

In less than a few seconds, two Nen bullets flew out together, sealing off Allen's maneuvering space from the left and right.

Because of his powerful mobility, he chose to use a long charge time to increase the power and destructive force of the Nen bullets, unconcerned about being attacked while charging.

But just as Riehlvelt was confident that his two Nen bullets would injure or even severely wound Allen, he suddenly saw a glint of cold light flying toward him head-on at unbelievable speed.

Fortunately, his reaction speed was fast enough, and he executed a sharp ninety-degree turn just in time.

As a result, the cold light grazed his cheek and slammed viciously into the stone slabs of the ring floor.

Instantly…

BOOM!

Along with the floor and the reinforced concrete pillar beneath it, a funnel-shaped deep pit was blasted out by the terrifying impact force. The outermost part was the size of a washbasin, but it narrowed as it went down, ending at the size of a mere coin.
