"I wanted to have my first kiss with someone I love, not someone..." William stopped her before she could finish. "And you think you can't love?" His gaze was fixed on her.
Tina's mind paused as she thought over their whole conversation again. This man was indirectly making advances toward her and gathering information. He probably knew by now that she was still a virgin. "Hmm, I think my mom is waiting outside."
William nodded his head. "Maybe some other time. I'll invite your mom inside now."
Opening the door, Tina saw Mrs. Martins standing near the door. The woman walked into the room, with William still standing at the threshold. Tina wondered, Was she perhaps listening to our conversation? Why does she look so red and excited?
"I'm happy you two are done talking now," Mrs. Martins said excitedly, as she took out a flask of food and placed it on the dining table. Tina didn't need anyone to tell her—her mom had listened to everything she discussed with William. Wasn't this embarrassing? Wasn't this wrong? Tina questioned herself.
After sharing a meal with them, William left to go back to his house. He had other things to catch up on.
