"Psychic power, simply put, is telekinesis.
"Certain individuals, like me and Sabrina, are born with much stronger Spirit than ordinary people. Then, through special guidance and training methods, we can use an intense force of will to achieve whatever goal we desire."
The man in the baseball cap's Psychic power mini-lesson began.
"Now I'll demonstrate Psychic power by trying to make your hands move. Ready!" The man's eyes glowed as he stared at Aomori's hands.
Aomori felt a force acting on his hands, attempting to push them up.
However, this force is a bit weak.
"Huh?" Seeing Aomori remain completely still, the man was surprised. He coughed twice and said, "That doesn't count. I wasn't using my full power yet. Let's try again! Now!"
Okay, the last attempt was roughly the strength of one Giyu Tomioka. This one should be about five Giyu Tomiokas, Aomori thought expressionlessly. Is that all?
"Hoo, hoo, hoo..." The man wiped the sweat from his forehead and stretched his body, pretending to be relaxed. "Hahaha, I'm not as young as I used to be, and I haven't gone all out in a long time, so the startup is a bit slow. This time, I'm sure it will work!"
"Mister, maybe we should just stop. Yeah, I think I have a good idea of what Psychic power can do."
"Nonsense! When I was rampant in Saffron City, who didn't know the name of 'Psychic Hero'? Who wasn't terrified of my Psychic power! Today, you absolutely must witness it!" The man was provoked by Aomori's indifferent gaze. He had to make him move, no matter what.
The man assumed a fighting stance, pressed his index and middle fingers to his temple, and his eyes bulged, blood vessels popping out. He shouted three times: "Now! Now! Now!"
A wind materialized out of thin air in the room. A force of fully 20 Giyus pulled on Aomori's arms, raising them high above his head.
"Hmph hmph. How about that? Have you seen the might of Psychic power?" Seeing that Aomori's hands had finally moved, the man immediately stopped his power and turned away.
"Wow, that's incredible! Is that Psychic power? I love it!" Aomori was "shocked" beyond measure.
What can I say? He's just too gentle.
"Haha!" The man laughed, covering his eyes, and headed to the restroom.
"Mister, are your eyes alright?"
"I'm fine. Some sand accidentally got in when the wind picked up just now. I'm going to put in some eye drops."
"Then why did you put on sunglasses?"
"I like it that way. Got a problem?"
"..."
…
At the Saffron Gym, the Gym Leader, Sabrina, was seated on a chair in her bedroom. She looked about 18 years old, with long, straight, dark-green hair. She wore a red cinched dress and black thigh-high boots, leaving a strip of Absolute Territory exposed in between.
She held a doll shaped like a small girl in her arms, her expression cold and her eyes deep, lost in thought.
Suddenly, a buzzer sounded. Sabrina slowly raised her head, a flash of red crossing her eyes. She saw a subordinate researcher kneeling on the battlefield, and heard him say, "Ms. Sabrina, a Trainer has come to challenge you."
Sabrina squeezed the small girl doll in her hands. Her body instantly vanished and reappeared directly on her throne overlooking the battlefield.
Upon Sabrina's arrival, the researcher quickly excused himself, leaving only Sabrina and the challenger in the massive stadium.
The emotionless Sabrina manipulated the little girl doll in her hands, making its mouth open and close, speaking in a child's innocent voice: "Someone else has come to play with me! Are you the challenger?"
"That's right. I am Aomori, and I would like to challenge you, Sabrina-san," the challenger claiming to be Aomori said.
"Fine, but if you lose, you'll have to become a doll and play with me, handsome big brother."
"No problem, but in return, if I win, you must help me train so I can learn Psychic power."
Sabrina was completely unconcerned by Aomori's request and was about to agree when she heard him continue: "You are a Psychic, so you have fighting power too, right? I propose a two-on-two battle. Both sides send out one Pokémon, and you and I, as the Trainers, must also participate in the fighting. How does that sound?"
"?" Sabrina had never encountered such a death-seeking challenger. She spoke directly in her original, cool voice: "Do you know who you are standing in front of?"
"I know. The one known as the world's best Psychic Master," Aomori continued to tempt fate. "But you only look so-so."
"Hmph! Since you want to be turned into a doll, I'll grant your wish!" Sabrina flashed onto the field. "This is a two-on-two. There's absolutely no turning back! Come out, Abra."
A fox-like Pokémon appeared on the field, looking bewildered. This was the Psychic-type Pokémon Abra, whose specialty was Teleport.
Aomori also sent out his Pokémon: "Come out, Darkrai!"
Darkrai emerged from his shadow, drifted to Abra's side, stretched out its long legs, and stood firm on the ground, looking down at it. Under the influence of its pure Dark-type aura, Abra appeared agitated and uneasy.
"It's a Pokémon I haven't seen before. Such intense pressure... no wonder you're confident you can win against me." Seeing the extraordinary Darkrai, Sabrina did not flinch. She waved her hand, and a flash of evolution light shimmered around Abra's body.
Abra evolved into Kadabra!
Kadabra evolved into Alakazam!
Under the catalyst of Sabrina's Psychic power, Abra skipped two stages, evolving into Alakazam, which held two spoons and sported a pair of long whiskers.
Aomori suspected that Sabrina usually kept Alakazam in its Abra form, only evolving it for battles. Otherwise, forcibly making a Pokémon skip two stages was simply too outrageous.
Wait, forced de-evolution is also pretty outrageous.
"The battle begins!"
Sabrina's eyes blazed with red light. She immediately used her Psychic power on Aomori, but Aomori, already prepared, hid behind Darkrai, avoiding Sabrina's line of sight.
"A certain mister said that a Psychic must stare at their target when using their powers."
"Then I'll knock your Pokémon out first." Sabrina changed targets.
However, when the red light enveloped Darkrai, it simply shrugged it off with a slight exertion of force.
"What? Why is my Psychic power ineffective against it?" Sabrina grit her teeth, using Telepathy to command Alakazam to use Psybeam on Darkrai.
Alakazam's Psybeam struck Darkrai, but it seemed to have no effect.
"Are all Psychic-type moves useless against it? What in the world is this Pokémon?"
Sabrina suffered from a lack of knowledge, unaware that Darkrai was a Dark-type Pokémon that inherently counteracted Psychic-types.
Aomori wasn't accustomed to constantly taking hits. After confirming that Psychic-type moves were ineffective against Darkrai, he began his counterattack: "Darkrai, first use Double Team, then use Shadow Ball!"
Sabrina and Alakazam were both masters of Teleport, so regular attacks were too easily dodged. He could only resort to area-of-effect moves.
Darkrai used Double Team, filling the entire field with dense copies, all charging Shadow Balls. But Sabrina's Psychic power was truly monstrous. A burst of power swept out, clearing away all of Darkrai's copies. The Shadow Balls launched by the remaining real body were easily dodged by the duo.
Just after dodging the Shadow Balls, Sabrina's expression sharpened. Her figure vanished again. Aomori appeared in her original spot, swinging his fist in a miss, then chuckled: "Next time, you won't be so lucky."
After speaking, his figure suddenly disappeared. Sabrina looked around in astonishment.
"Teleport? No, that's not right. He's moving at high speed."
She finally understood that Aomori was not an ordinary human either.
"Interesting." A slightly different expression finally appeared on Sabrina's normally aloof face. She tossed the small girl doll aside. Red light enveloped her entire body, her normally straight hair floated upward without wind, writhing like a swarm of snakes, and her whole body lifted off the ground.
She was getting serious!
