Chapter 80 - The Entity That Knows His Name

The chamber fell silent—

Not because the noise stopped, but because everything else did.

Time stuttered.

The falling crystal shards froze mid-air.Rhyne's raised weapon hovered, suspended.Even Eliora's hair, blown back by the force of the rift, hung motionless.

Only Kael could move.

Only Kael… and the thing stepping out of the rift.

The entity's form was made of fractured, shifting shards of light — almost humanoid, but blurred, as if reality resisted giving it a true shape. Its "face" was a mosaic of glowing fragments, rearranging with each breath.

No mouth.

No eyes.

And yet—

Kael felt it look at him.

Eliora, still frozen in time, remained locked against him, hands gripping his arms in mid-motion — trapped in the instant she tried to protect him.

Kael tried to shout her name.

Nothing came out.

His voice was swallowed by the distortion pressing against his ribs.

Then the entity spoke.

Not aloud.

Inside him.

"Kael."

Hearing his name fall from something that shouldn't have a voice made his blood ice over.

He forced his jaw to unclench. "What do you want?"

The shards shifted.

A ripple of light passed through the entity, like a breath.

"To claim what is mine."

Kael staggered backward — or tried to.

The air around him pressed tight, like a cage.

"N-No. Whatever connection you think you have—"

"Think?"The entity tilted its head.Shards rearranged into a shape resembling a chillingly human smile.

"You are the tether. The Anchor. You are the reason I stand here at all."

Kael's heartbeat slammed against his ribs.

He hadn't asked for this.He hadn't wanted any of this.

And Eliora— frozen, unable to reach him— the thought of her sent a surge of defiance through his veins.

He glared at the creature."You're not taking anything from me."

The entity stepped closer.

Every movement was wrong.Shards shifting, sliding, splitting, reassembling.More like a glitch walking than a living thing.

"This form is crude," it said."Your world is too limited. Too fragile."

Light crawled across Kael's skin, answering the resonance with a painful burn.

The entity reached out a hand made of splintering light.

Kael's instincts screamed.

But the creature didn't touch him.

Not physically.

Instead, the world around him tore open once more — this time inside the frozen chamber.Visions spilled out like broken holograms:

— Kael at age five, crying alone in a sterile medical cell.— Eliora reaching for him through fractured glass.— A future version of Kael with eyes made of living light.— A world collapsing under a sky of shimmering cracks.

Kael gasped. "Stop—!"

The entity's voice darkened.

"You cannot separate from what you are becoming."

Kael shook, rage and terror colliding.

"No. I choose who I am."

A pause.

Then the shards shifted… and the entity leaned closer.

"Then why… did you call me?"

Kael froze.

Breath gone.

Heart stopped.

"…what?"

The entity's voice dropped to a whisper that made the chamber tremble.

"You reached across the veil long before I ever did.""It was you who opened the first thread.""It was you who cracked the Resonance.""And it is you… who will finish what you began."

The light inside the rift flared violently.

Time snapped back into motion.

Eliora gasped, stumbling into him.

Rhyne fired.

Solace screamed.

The entity turned—

And everything exploded into white.
