Chapter 53 - The Child of the Forbidden Dawn

Darkness wasn't empty.

It pulsed.

Like a heartbeat echoing through a void older than creation itself. Elias felt weightless, drifting, until a familiar hand grasped his wrist—Aru's.

Her touch anchored him.

Light returned in fragments, like pieces of shattered glass floating through the air. They weren't on the battlefield anymore. They stood in a realm of shifting white and gold, where the ground had no texture and the horizon had no end.

Aru's voice cracked."Where are we?"

Elias shook his head, trying to steady his breath.

"We're inside the decree," he whispered."The law that orders creation."

Before Aru could respond, the air rippled—And the luminous being from before stood before them, his form more defined now, though still veiled in shifting light.

But he wasn't alone.

The little girl stood at his side.

Her small hand in his.

Aru's eyes widened. "This is her… the memory you weren't supposed to have."

The child looked at Elias with sorrow far too ancient for her tiny frame.

"Brother…" she whispered.

Elias felt his chest collapse inward. "Who are you?"

The answer came not from her—but from the being.

"She is Liora.""The last remnant of the Dawnborn."

Aru frowned. "Dawnborn? There's no such race—"

"You are correct," the being said."For they were erased before the first man drew breath."

Elias staggered."Erased? Why do I remember her then?"

The being turned to Liora.

And Liora released his hand.

She took a step toward Elias, her bare feet making no sound in the decreed white floor.

"When our people were destroyed," she said softly, "you tried to save me."

Elias froze.

"What?"

"You were an angel then," she whispered, "before you fell into mortality. You hid my memory inside your own soul so Heaven couldn't erase me completely."

Aru's breath caught.

"You were never meant to be human," the being added."And the memory you buried is unraveling the order that binds Heaven, Earth, and the Abyss."

Elias felt the world tilt around him.

He pressed a hand to his head."No… no, that can't be right. I've never—"

Liora placed her tiny palm against his chest.

Warmth spilled through him—Not supernatural. Not divine.

Familial.

And with that touch, another memory unfolded:

A burning sky.Angels falling like meteors.Elias—winged, radiant, furious—carrying Liora through collapsing pillars of dawnfire.

Her small voice crying:"Don't leave me."

His voice trembling:"I won't."

The memory faded.Elias staggered back.Aru grabbed him before he fell.

The being's voice thundered:

"Your choice saved her. But it condemned you."

Aru glared at him. "Why condemn him for saving a child?!"

"Because," the being said, "Liora should not exist. Her very presence disrupts the foundations. Her lineage predates even the Watchers. And if she fully awakens—"

He raised a hand.

Reality trembled.

"—the seals at the Euphrates will shatter."

Aru's eyes widened."The Four bound angels will be released."

"And the armies of the end will march," the being finished.

He turned to Elias.

"You must choose."

The realm brightened until the air hummed.

"Erase the memory fully… and restore order."

Liora's face drained of color.

"Or…" the being said, voice deepening,"…keep her alive—and let the final seals fall.""The world will end sooner than destined."

Aru stepped forward instantly.

"No. Elias isn't choosing alone."

Elias looked at Liora.

Her small trembling hands. Her ancient eyes full of hope and fear.

She whispered:

"Brother… please don't let me disappear."

Aru squeezed his hand.

"Elias. Whatever you choose—I'm with you."

Time froze around them, waiting for his answer.

And for the first time, Elias felt the weight of an entire world resting on his decision.
