Aria's POV
I just lost my dad to the cruel hands of death. I wasn't even allowed to give him a befitting burial ceremony talk more of mourning him for a week as every other higher authority would be given. I was an Omega in the Red Moon Pack. I started thinking about my life. Since birth, I was ridiculed for having to be born into an Omega family. At the age of 5, I was taken into the Alpha's ward to work as a maid. My parents could only pity me as they had no right to interfere. Everyone hated me in this ward. I hated myself for having to be born in this life. With every passing night, I hoped to finally be free from the clutches of wickedness. Who was I to dream as, a lowly servant?
"You're still in bed till this time," my friend, Lara said coming to drag me out of bed. "You do know that you would be on the receiving end of beatings if anything goes wrong today." Her voice was laced with pity for me.
I hated being pitied. I hated being looked down on. I hated being weak. I believed that the Moon Goddess had a reason for everything. I dragged my body filled with pain out of the bed. The cold breeze hit me, making me stumble on the ground as I felt dizzy. I was able to steady myself before lifting my ass up from the ground. I had my bath quickly and brushed my teeth before changing into my maid wear. I let my hair fall down, covering my face slightly. No one was to have the liberty of seeing my face, or else they would think I was more than an Omega. A silent rule communicated to me by my Alpha.
I rushed downstairs to start my work for the day when I caught a whiff of a scent I had never sensed in my life. I had never turned to a wolf hence I didn't have anyone to ask whose scent it was. Whoever the scent belonged to you was getting close to where I stood as the scent became stronger.
"Aria, to the board room. Clean it up before Alpha Ares finishes his lunch," the head of the housemaids ordered.
I nodded my head not looking at her eyes before carrying my bucket of water and detergent to the board room to start my cleaning. While cleaning my mind wandered back to the scent. A loud smack of a cane landed on my back tearing my skin. I bit back a tear, quickly clearing my head.
"You have time to be thinking when an important guest is in the house," the head housekeeper said seething with anger.
"I'm sorry ma'am," I apologized croaking out a tear.
"Finish up here and leave before you stain this room with that blood on your back," she ordered with disgusting seeping out from her words.
I nodded at her before going on to my work. Immediately after I finished, I stood up to leave the room.

Ares, Alpha of the Black Moon Pack set out to a faraway pack to gain alliances. Red Moon Pack was very welcoming to him despite the fact that that was his first visit to the pack. Everyone knew Alpha Ares as a ruthless and heartless man who killed before asking questions. He welcomed no form of insolence and betrayal in his life. He used to be a kind and calm person when his mate was still alive. When his mate died, a part of him went with her hence making him the man he is today.
"Alpha Duncan will have you now," A guard said to Ares when he was done with having his lunch.
"As expected," he muttered under his breath before following the guard to a big board room.
He saw a lady running out of the room making him growl loudly.
"Mine," his wolf Ace howled within him.
He ignored his wolf not ready to believe what he was hearing.
Immediately Alpha Duncan's eyes met his and he bowed to him.
"Welcome Alpha," he greeted as he pointed at a couch for him to settle down in.
Ares just nodded at him, clearly not in the mood for all the unnecessary talk.
They got into the business of signing the deals to ensure that an alliance pact was made before Ares returned to the guest room prepared for him.
"What the hell happened?" Ares asked Ace.
"We mate our mate," he replied.
"Mate.... Are you that desperate to have another woman in your life?" Ares questioned annoying his wolf because deep within him, he knew that he was right.
"Second Chance Mate. I miss Carla. But she's gone and the earlier you accept that truth the better for everyone," he responded rudely.
Ares locked his wolf out in order to have a free mind to think. Then he caught the scent again. It was a fresh scent of vanilla. A knock sounded on his door.
"Come in," he said calmly.

My eyes jammed with midnight blue eyes. His scent was too strong. He smelled of mint and dare I say... Sin! I hurriedly ran away from the door not before hearing him say mate. I must have hallucinated because how could I be his mate, Ares, the ruthless Alpha of the Century? I must have heard wrong. But his eyes told a different story.
"What's got your mind in a twist?" Lara my only friend asked me.
"I think I may have found my mate," I replied.
She started laughing out loud. I had to place my hand on her lips to stop her from laughing.
"You're being serious," she said looking at me with an intense gaze.
"It's just a feeling. I wouldn't even be able to recognize my mate due to not having a wolf," I replied feeling sad.
"I'm sorry for laughing," she apologized pulling me into a hug.
Just then I heard my name being called by the head housekeeper. I rushed to where the voice was coming from.
"You'll be Alpha Ares's maid till he takes his leave," she ordered.
"Ma'am... Why me?" She asked earning a hot slap on her face.
"Behave or you won't leave to tell the story," she responded harshly before walking out on me.
A streak of tears fell from my face. I cried at every little thing and it showed how weak I was. I cleaned up my face before going to Ares's room to serve him tea. As I stood in front of his door, I wondered if I should get another maid to act on my behalf and endure a fresh load of beatings from the head housekeeper. I shook the horrible thoughts from my head before knocking on his door.
"Come in," I heard him say calmly.
I opened the door and walked in slowly very conscious of my steps to avoid spilling tea all over the place. I felt his eyes watching me, making me very conscious of my environment.
"I am Aria, your maid for the time being," I introduced myself not looking at him.
"I don't need you as my maid," he said, venom seeping from his words.
It hurt. I felt rejected. Why would this guy hate me when I haven't done anything to him?
"Tell your head housekeeper to find me another maid," he added quickly.
"May I ask why?" I questioned.
"You're a lowly life servant, a stupid and weak person who allows people to walk all over her. You're not even meant to be alive because you're just taking the space for reasonable people to exist," he responded cruelly. "Now if you've gotten your answer, you may leave."
He was right. I was an Omega and this was my life.
"I never asked to be born into this life," I said with tears threatening to fall from my eyes.
"I don't care. Leave now," he said rudely.
I flinched due to his tone before hurriedly running out of his room. I hit a person in the process making the tea spill all over the ground. The cup had broken into several pieces. I fell onto the ground to start packing the pieces spread all over the ground.
"Let me help you," I heard a tender voice say.
He tried to touch me but I flinched. Just then I felt a pair of eyes watching my every move. It couldn't be him, not after everything he said to me.
"She's scared of him, but she won't be scared of us," Ace whispered to Ares.
"Be careful next time," he said.
"Yes, thank you," I replied in a small voice.
"I'm James, Ares Beta," he introduced offering his hand for me to shake. I thought about a particular midnight blue eyes and shook my head sideways. James nodded his head before leaving me alone.
Footsteps approached me, and my heart began to pound fast in my chest.
"Who's there?" whispered Aria as she felt her hands turning to sweaty.
