Mu Ning raised a brow at Liam.
"Why? Are you scared you'll get beaten up?" she asked casually.
Liam let out a faint chuckle. But this time, there was a warning hidden in his voice.
"It's not about getting beaten up," he said quietly. "It's about whether you'll make it out of this ballroom alive tonight."
Mu Ning looked at him. Then, she smiled. Her eyes were bright.
"Don't worry," she said lightly, "even if everyone in this ballroom dies… You and I won't be among them."
For a moment, Liam was taken aback.
That confidence…it didn't look like arrogance. It looked like certainty.
Even Mr. Wang, who had been observing everything, narrowed his eyes slightly.
This confidence… isn't normal.
Even if she had backing, she shouldn't act like this.
He paused. Then decided not to provoke her further. Instead, he shifted the attention.
"Everyone," he said, stepping forward, "I have an important announcement to make tonight."
