Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: “No Apprentices” — The Teaching Match

Yoroi surged forward again, throwing shuriken as he ran.

This time he noticed the four Narutos had formed a fixed formation.

They split into two pairs. In each pair, one clone shielded the other, batting away Yoroi's projectiles with a kunai while blocking his view. The rear clones attacked from blind spots, disrupting his rhythm.

Kunai littered the ground. The distance stayed perfectly controlled.

Hiruzen watched and nodded repeatedly. He knew Naruto's chakra reserves were massive, yet Naruto wasn't spamming clones—he was using them with tactical precision.

A true chunin temperament.

Suddenly, the right-side rear Naruto popped his head out and formed a Tiger seal.

Yoroi's eyes jumped. Fire Release! He threw himself aside—

Only to see the Naruto grinning in ridicule.

Naruto's chakra nature was Wind, and he hadn't learned Fire Release. That seal was pure feint.

At that exact moment, a hand burst from the floor and seized Yoroi's right ankle.

"Earth Release: Head Hunter Technique!"

Yoroi panicked and chopped at the hand—

Poof!

It was another clone.

Then—

Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!

"Aaagh!"

Three kunai slammed into Yoroi's arm, abdomen, and left thigh. Blood streamed down.

Yoroi's eyes snapped to where Naruto had first dropped smoke.

There was a man-sized hole in the ground.

Naruto had set this trap from the very beginning, and triggered it at the precise instant.

"How's that feel?" Four Narutos walked toward him. One held a steel wire linked to the three embedded kunai.

"And by the way? I never learned Head Hunter either. That was just to scare you."

"W-what?!" Yoroi rasped, red-eyed. He felt toyed with from start to finish.

The center Naruto shook his head. "Your combat awareness is still too weak."

"What are you saying?!" Yoroi bristled, anger breaking through the pain.

Naruto didn't answer. He simply raised a kunai and flicked it into the air.

Snap!

A wire was cut.

A faint metallic rasp spread through the arena.

The kunai scattered across the ground began to tremble.

Snap! Snap!

"AAAAH!"

Yoroi screamed again.

He realized every kunai around him was tied to transparent wire, interlaced into a net that had already cinched him tight.

Three of the Narutos were pulling on the wires from different directions. With triple force, Yoroi couldn't even twitch.

"Still not surrendering?" The fourth Naruto snorted and pulled out a scroll.

He glanced toward a certain part of the stands.

"Watch carefully. This is how you use killing tools!"

He didn't name anyone, but Tenten instantly understood.

"Oh my god… he's calling me out in front of everyone…"

Her heart went thump thump thump.

Naruto flung the scroll open—nearly two meters long—seal formulas blooming in perfect rows, all aimed at Yoroi. He slammed his palm down.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!

A storm of kunai and shuriken erupted, blackening the air as they rained toward Yoroi.

That was the essence of lethal tools: bind the target, then turn them into a pin cushion.

"N-no! I surrender! I surrender!"

In that split second, Yoroi finally cracked, shouting at Hayate.

Hayate didn't dare waste a heartbeat.

He Body-Flickered in, slashed the wires off Yoroi, then faced the incoming barrage with hard eyes.

"Leaf Style Sword Technique: Three Crescent Moons Dance!"

He split into three, blade-light flashing from multiple angles.

ROOOOM!

Gale-wrapped sword waves blew most of the weapons away, while the rest were sliced into fragments.

The arena floor became a wreck.

Tenten covered her mouth, eyes sparkling with awe—and a tiny, sour ache.

"He only trained a little with me, and he's already shining like this…"

She clenched her feelings down fast.

He'll come to me again, right?

Kankurō and Temari, who had been annoyed by Naruto earlier, now wore complicated faces—shock tangled with damn it, you really got to show off frustration.

Sasuke, Neji, and Gaara—the apex talents—watched Naruto with sharpened aggression. Sasuke in particular looked like he wanted to devour Naruto on the spot. Not literally—he just wanted a one-on-one fight now.

Sakura narrowed her emerald eyes and followed Naruto's loud call toward the stands. Her gaze turned razor-bright.

Naruto himself felt nothing special.

This was just a simple teaching match.

"Are you okay?" he asked the trembling Yoroi.

Yoroi was pale, but still forced out disdain. "It was just a mistake. Don't get cocky!"

Naruto laughed.

The guy had escaped death and immediately tried to save face.

So Naruto raised his voice on purpose. "Huh? You said you wanted to be my disciple?"

Everyone turned.

"Sorry, Yoroi."

His mouth curved in a pointed, mocking smile as he looked straight toward Orochimaru.

"I don't take apprentices."
