At that moment, Gaffer came downstairs.
When he saw Linda, he showed no reaction.
He wasn't surprised to see her in rabbit form. Not even a little. His mentality was very strong. He didn't even bat an eyelid.
Linda rushed toward him as he descended the stairs.
Gaffer picked her up as usual and held her in his arms. He leaned her against his chest to rest. Then he flicked her tail lightly.
Linda was so elated.
She felt like he was flirting with her—and she flirted right back, wagging her rabbit tail.
Scarlett felt disgusted.
Meanwhile, Soro was shocked. Seeing the master get along with a rabbit like this was strange. Very strange.
The four of them had breakfast together.
That was Soro, Scarlett, Gaffer, and Linda.
Gaffer did not speak much at all. They went straight to eating.
He did not look grim, and he did not look gloomy, but he also did not look happy. He was simply responding to people. When someone greeted him, he responded back with the same expression.
Yet no one could tell something was off.
Today, he had to send Linda to his uncle and the council of elders. They were going to put his dear little white in a contest for the position of something he did not even like. The Beast Lady Lord position. Something he did not agree with at all.
Was a reason to not be off!?
Meanwhile, Linda felt very happy. She was surrounded by three men.
She kept looking at Soro, trying to figure out what his beast man was. She too did not really notice that something was wrong with Gaffer. He was very good at hiding it. Also, she was still focused on food.
The food given to her was a snack pack.
While the others ate raw meat, she managed the snack pack. She planned to eat properly later. Today, she was thinking of going to storage to get carrots so she could transform back into her human form.
But for now, she was going to feed her mouth with snack pack and her eyes with the new guy.
Soro must have noticed her staring.
He turned to Gaffer and said, "Master, does the madam perhaps like my company, or does she want to say something to me?"
Scarlett disdainfully replied, "The madam can't talk. It's good you saw through that. I didn't figure it out at first glance."
Gaffer rolled his eyes, hid his sigh, and looked at Linda, waiting for her to explain herself.
Linda gestured and asked what Soro's beast form was.
Gaffer turned to Soro and said, "She wants to know what beastman you are."
Then he went back to eating.
Soro smiled. "Well, madam, I am from this tribe, the scales tribe. But you, my beastman is not so much of scales like His majesty and commander Scarlett. My beast is an eagle."
Linda's eyes widened. 'An eagle.'
In her mind, she thought about it. Eagles were sharp. Powerful. Kings of the sky, just like lions were kings of the jungle. But then she wondered—if he was an eagle, why was he in the scales strike tribe? Wasn't there something like a feather tribe?
'This beast world sure is fascinating.'
They continued eating.
Linda kept looking at Soro. Eagles were impressive beasts, and she found herself very interested.
Soro noticed this and thought the madam was very interactive. He really wished she could talk at this moment. He would love to talk to a beast woman, even if once in his life.
Who knows, if he impressed her, he might successfully take her away from his majesty so she could lay his eggs~
Gaffer, on the other hand, did not force a smile.
He was not going to fake an expression. He would hide how he felt, but he would not pretend to feel something he did not.
With a plain expression, he cleared his throat. "Little White, you were asking of the young master yesterday. Well… you can go to meet him today. After eating."
Linda's eyes sparkled. She missed Gaffer's Imoogi son no doubt. She wanted to see the silver-slim beast.
She thought about eating carrots so she could transform into her human form. But after a few thoughts, she shook her head.
No. It was better to stay in her rabbit form. If she changed, what if the silver-skinned beast did not recognize her?
She stamped her foot lightly, excited.
She really wanted to see her equal defective little trouble maker.
Gaffer finally said, "Calm down. Soro will take you to where the young master is."
Under the table his hands were fisted.
Gaffer could not bring himself to take her there. Because there she was going was where she'd be handed over to his uncle and the council of elders.
Yes, his son was also there with his uncle so it wasn't a lie he told. At least, not a full lie.
His heart squeezed when he thought of his little white lost and weary in a place full of beastmen she didn't know.
Plus, the contest was definitely going to be bloody and not an easy task but what choice does he have in this?
If she lost, what if another won and makes her breed for beastmen? And if she won, which is definitely not a possibility given her size and prowess, what if she falls in love with another beast man and choose to leave him again like May Scalden did?
