Chapter 24
Adrian stopped going to classes on a Tuesday.
Not intentionally—he'd woken up, looked at his phone, seen the time, and simply couldn't find a reason to get out of bed. What was the point? Dante was gone. The semester was almost over. Everything felt meaningless.
By Thursday, he'd missed three classes. By the following Monday, he'd missed twelve.
His professors started emailing. Subject lines like "Concerned about your attendance" and "Missing assignments" and "Please contact me ASAP." Adrian didn't read them. Just deleted them without opening, watching them disappear like they'd never existed at all.
He quit the intramural basketball team without telling anyone. Just stopped showing up. Marcus texted asking where he was. Adrian didn't respond.
Sage called. Adrian let it go to voicemail.
Elena knocked on his door. Adrian pretended he wasn't there.
