The city lights slid across the windows as the vehicle pulled away from the venue. Ethan sat in the back seat, elbow resting on the door, watching reflections of neon and street lamps blur past like trails of light.

Sharon Carter glanced at him sitting across him before clearing her throat softly.

"So," she asked, keeping her tone casual, "how was Director Fury?"

Ethan didn't take his eyes off the window.

"Hmm… serious. Too serious. And he talks like an elder giving life advice."

Sharon gave a tiny amused huff.

"That does sound like him."

Ethan finally looked at her, brows slightly raised.

"Was he… close to my father?"

Sharon blinked once, surprised by the question.

"Why do you ask?"

Ethan shrugged, gaze drifting back to the window.

"It felt like he cared too much—more than someone who just wanted to thank me for a watch."

Sharon fell silent for a moment before answering.

"I don't know," she said truthfully. "Even within S.H.I.E.L.D., your father's identity was sealed. Compartmentalized. I wasn't cleared to know anything about him."

Ethan turned his head slightly, studying her expression—trying to read past the words, to see whether she was hiding something. But Sharon's face remained calm and steady, her eyes focused on her laptop.

Whether she was lying or not didn't matter much to him right now.

I wonder if she's lying or not…Ethan thought, but he didn't say anything. It wasn't necessary—he already knew Fury's identity, after all.

Sharon broke the silence a moment later.

"By the way, what were you talking about earlier at the party?" she asked.

Ethan turned his head slightly, brows lifting."Hmm?" He looked at her, genuinely confused for a moment.

"The gift you mentioned," she clarified. "You said something about giving me a gift."

"Ah." Ethan nodded slowly."Yes. But you're aware you can't tell anyone about it—not even S.H.I.E.L.D., right?"

Sharon didn't hesitate."I'm ready to keep it a secret. If you say something is dangerous, then it's definitely super dangerous. I won't breathe a word."

Ethan studied her expression, then gave a small approving nod.

Soon after, they arrived home.Ethan headed straight to his room to change into something comfortable. A few minutes later he stepped out wearing a loose black shirt and pajama pants—relaxed, almost domestic—while Sharon returned dressed in her training suit, clearly prepared for whatever came next.

Sharon tied her hair back and walked toward Ethan when she saw him near the stairs.

"Basement?" she asked.

Ethan didn't reply. He just started walking down.

Sharon followed, quiet and focused.

When he opened the basement door, she expected the normal setup she had seen before—storage, tools, equipment.

But when the lights came on, she froze for a moment.

The room looked different.

Most of the shelves and gear had been moved to the sides, and the center area was cleared. Reinforced floor plating covered the ground, and in the middle stood a large cylindrical device with faint blue lights running through it.

It looked advanced—far beyond anything she'd seen in a normal lab.

She didn't know what it was, but she instantly understood it was serious and potentially dangerous.

"...I guess this is the dangerous thing you mentioned?" Sharon asked as she walked closer, looking over the pod-like device.

Ethan kept his focus on the controls."Hmm... let's just say I wanted superpowers. So I built this."

"This is the gift you were talking about? This can give me superpowers?" she asked, her voice a mix of doubt and curiosity.

"Wait—don't tell me this is a super-soldier serum chamber?" she added, now studying the pod with more interest.

Ethan chuckled, noticing how openly excited she looked for the first time."No. Not exactly."

"In my version of a super-soldier," he said, "their bodies are infused with elemental power."

Sharon raised an eyebrow."You mean like—fire, lightning, that kind of element?"

"Something like that," Ethan replied. "And you know what vibranium can do, right?"

Sharon nodded. "Absorb kinetic energy. Release it. Hard to destroy."

"Right. I'm going to give you something similar," Ethan said. "Not metal in your body—but properties close to vibranium. Toughness. Resistance. Adaptability."

Sharon blinked slowly, trying to piece it together."I don't fully understand… but it sounds powerful."

Ethan typed a final command, and the chamber doors slid open with a low mechanical hum.

"You'll need to lie down inside," he said. "The process works better if your body is completely relaxed."

Sharon stepped forward, placing her hand on the edge of the chamber. The surface felt cool—almost too cool. For a moment, she hesitated—not out of fear, but because she understood this wasn't just training or tech. This was something that would change her body permanently.

Ethan watched her expression."You can back out if you want. No judgement."

Sharon shook her head.

"I asked for this," she said quietly. "And I trust you."

Ethan didn't smile, but his shoulders eased slightly—relief, maybe.

She climbed into the chamber and laid down, adjusting her position as padded restraints gently formed around her arms and legs.

Ethan checked the readings on the monitor."Heart rate stable. Temperature normal."

He glanced at her through the transparent cover.

"Last chance, Sharon."

"And its really fucking gonna hurt like hell"

Sharon stared straight up, breathing steady."Do it."

"At SHIELD we are trained to survive torture" She added.

Ethan pressed the activation switch.

The chamber sealed with a soft hiss, and faint blue light filled the interior—warm at first, then gradually shifting toward a deeper glow as the infusion sequence began.

Ethan spoke through the intercom, his voice calm and steady.

"It's starting now. Three… two… one… go."

A faint purple gas filled the chamber, spreading around Sharon's body.At first, it only tingled against her skin—then the sensation sharpened and her muscles tightened all at once.

She screamed as the pain hit her like fire running under her skin.

"Well… I did say it would hurt like hell," Ethan muttered, trying to keep his tone light even as her cries grew louder.
