Chapter 123 - Even in Parallel Worlds, He Is Still a Super Pallet Rookie

[Lt. Surge]: That's not right! When he challenged me, he already had two badges!

[Erika]: And when he challenged me, he had four!

[Brock]: …And I didn't even travel with him?!

[Misty]: He never challenged the Cerulean Gym at all! Why?!

[Jessie]: MOST IMPORTANTLY—WHERE WERE WE?! HOW COULD WE MISS HIS PIKACHU?!

Misty, Brock, Team Rocket—

They'd followed Ash across Kanto from start to finish.

They knew his journey inside out.

So what was this completely different route?

And most critically—

Ash never obtained Charmander.

The Pokémon he'd saved in the rain.

His future ace.

Where was Charmander?!

[Cynthia]: I think… the worldline diverged.

[Steven]: Worldline? One parallel world theory is already enough—now there are worldlines too?

[Cynthia]: They're essentially the same concept.

[Cynthia]: For example, in a battle, you choose between a Water-type or a Steel-type Pokémon. Each choice creates a different outcome. That's a worldline divergence.

[Cynthia]: This Ash never met Misty or Team Rocket. So this is another branch of Ash's life—a different worldline. You can treat it as a parallel world.

Understanding dawned.

This was Ash—

Without Misty.

Without Team Rocket.

A different Ash.

What kind of growth would he achieve?

Misty and Brock exchanged glances.

They'd already noticed something.

This Ash—

Was growing far too fast.

His progress rivaled Red's early journey.

Could it be…

That without them—

Ash's potential fully awakened?

Entei Appears

After earning the Rainbow Badge, Ash called Delia to update her.

Then—

Entei appeared.

One of the Legendary Beasts emerged in a forest.

Ash rushed toward it.

Other Trainers arrived too.

Among them—

A green-haired boy in green clothes, accompanied by a Lucario.

Rare.

But utterly powerless before Entei.

As Trainers fell one by one, only Ash and a blue-clad girl—Molly—remained.

Before they could attack—

Entei lost interest and leapt away.

Ash, frustrated, vented his anger by battling Molly.

Before the fight, she mocked him—

Calling him a mama's boy.

Ash exploded.

Pikachu was sent out immediately.

Ash didn't mind being called a kid.

But calling him dependent on his mother?

That crossed the line.

Adolescence had arrived.

The Incident

Molly's Piplup used Hydro Pump—

Accidentally hitting an Onix behind Pikachu.

Despite a four-times weakness—

The Onix didn't fall.

It went berserk.

Ash grabbed Piplup and rolled away at the last second.

"Run!"

He tossed Piplup to Molly and sprinted.

Onix chased them relentlessly.

By chance, they landed atop Onix's head.

It smashed into the surroundings uncontrollably.

"If this keeps up, Onix will seriously hurt itself!"

"Onix! We're sorry! Please calm down!"

No response.

"It's no use—an enraged Onix can't hear you!"

"Then—"

Ash acted.

He planted one hand on Onix's head—

And leapt.

Higher than even his leap to save Sceptile.

No tools.

No aids.

Perfect landing.

Ash spun around, arms spread wide—

Blocking Onix's path.

"STOP, ONIX!!!"

[Audience Explodes]

[Lance]: WHAT THE—

[Diantha]: WHAT—

[Bruno]: WHAT!!!

[Bea]: Can you people use another word?! Like—HOLY—

[Lorelei]: That's not much better.

[Leon]: Even in parallel worlds, Ash's Super Rookie physique is terrifying. His body feels stronger than even his Hoenn self.

[Cynthia]: Is this… a flesh-and-blood ascended Super Rookie?

[Red]: …That aside—he's about to get hit.

Final Scene

Onix charged.

At the last moment—

Molly commanded Piplup to use Whirlpool.

A massive blue vortex slammed down.

Onix's eyes briefly cleared.

The water faded.

Ash still stood there.

Unmoving.

Unyielding.

The determination in his eyes—

Shook Onix to its core.

PS: In the original movie, Ash only used three Pokémon. I adjusted the plot slightly so he could still encounter and bond with his usual partners.

Within the Projection—

"I'm sorry, Onix! This was our fault for frightening you! Please calm down! If you keep going like this, your body will be seriously injured!"

Ash stood directly in front of the enraged Onix, his voice sincere and urgent.

The two stared at each other for several long seconds.

Finally—

The overheated mind of Onix cooled down.

With a low rumble, it shook its body, flinging the one human and two Pokémon from its back, then casually dug a hole nearby and disappeared underground.

"Phew… we finally stopped it."

Ash let out a long breath.

"I'm telling you—you were way too reckless!"

Molly snapped, still shaken.

"Just now, one mistake and you could've died!"

"But it turned out fine, didn't it?"

Ash scratched his head.

"And Onix was in danger too."

Molly looked at Ash's carefree expression, and something in her gaze subtly changed.

This guy…

He wasn't some mama's boy after all.

[Audience Reaction]

"Haha, Ash always does the most insane things—and somehow always succeeds!"

"That girl's completely stunned now. She was looking down on him earlier!"

"Oh no… that's the look of falling in love!"

"..."

The audience was both shocked—and unsurprised.

This was Ash.

For the sake of Pokémon, he would rush forward without hesitation, gambling his own life to protect them.

Even if that Pokémon wasn't his.

Perhaps it was precisely this kind of heart that caused fate itself to gift him such an extraordinary body.

"Whew… Ash is really too reckless."

Dawn patted her chest lightly, finally relaxing.

That jump earlier had nearly scared her half to death.

Come to think of it…

That penguin-like Pokémon—

She might have one like that in the future, too.

The Storm Arrives

After resolving the Onix incident, the sky suddenly darkened.

Raindrops began to fall, light at first, then steadily heavier.

Seeing this, Ash and Molly immediately started running, searching for shelter.

They ran for three or four minutes, yet found nowhere to escape the rain.

Just as they continued forward—

Ash suddenly felt something and turned to his right.

On a stone pedestal nearby—

A Charmander sat quietly in the rain.

The flame on its tail was already extremely weak.

"Charmander!"

Ash rushed over without hesitation.

Molly followed closely behind.

As they approached, Molly's expression changed.

"It's a Charmander… The flame on its tail represents its life force. If that flame goes out, Charmander will die."

Ash carefully placed both hands around the tail flame, shielding it from the rain as best he could.

"Charmander… why are you here alone? Why don't you come with us and take shelter?"

Charmander glanced at Ash weakly.

Then, with dull eyes, it continued staring into the distance.

For a moment, Ash didn't know what to do.

If this continued—

Charmander would really die here.

Suddenly—

The dullness in Charmander's eyes disappeared.

It struggled to its feet, dragging its exhausted body forward, stumbling as it ran!

Ash and Molly looked up in the direction it was heading—

And saw a boy with messy orange-brown hair slowly emerge from the dark forest.

Behind him—

A red, ferocious wolf Pokémon with glowing crimson eyes followed closely.

Red fur.

White mane.

A sharp stone spike crowning its mane.

Lycanroc — Midnight Form.

A notoriously violent Pokémon.

Without a highly skilled Trainer, it was nearly impossible to control.

Upon seeing the boy, Charmander's eyes lit up with joy.

It ran forward and hugged the boy's leg tightly.

For a moment, Ash and Molly thought—

Charmander's Trainer had finally returned.

Then—

The boy kicked Charmander away.

Straight into a rain-filled puddle.

[Global Outrage]

"WHAT THE HELL?! Is this Charmander's Trainer in this world?!"

"Brothers, one spits each before leaving—what kind of garbage behavior is this?!"

"I swear, no matter the world, Charmander's first Trainer is always trash!"
