[Diantha]: They look bugged, but they do have limits.

[Lucian]: After one or two uses, they must alternate skills to recover psychic energy. Otherwise, power and speed drop sharply.
[Sabrina]: …Unless a human psychic assists. My Alakazam can teleport dozens of times consecutively with my support.

Everyone stared.

burning away the pursuing waves—
Yet fragments slipped through, locking onto Charizard's wings!
"ROAR!"
Mewtwo howled.
Psychic energy solidified into countless blades—
A rain of psychic swords!
"Blast Burn!"
Infernal flames detonated, destroying most of them—
But not all.
Even in madness, Mewtwo's attacks were terrifying.
Several blades struck Charizard midair.
Blood sprayed.
Charizard was sent flying!
Red sprinted forward instinctively, arms wide—
BOOM!
He couldn't stop it.
But he became a human cushion, reducing the impact.
"ROAR!"
Charizard immediately turned, checking Red.
Red smiled and patted its head.
"I'm fine."
[Lance]: ??? HOW are you fine?!
[Diantha]: Blue got crushed by Blastoise accidentally. Red volunteered as a crash pad and walked it off?!
[Steven]: "Blue: Human joy and sorrow are not shared."
[Cynthia]: Blastoise weighs 85kg. Charizard weighs 90kg.
[Bruno]: As expected of Ash's counterpart—Super Pallet Town physique confirmed.
Humanity continued to disappoint logic.
The Turning Point
Mewtwo was panting.
Continuous defense, control, attacks—
And under Sunny Day, no less.
Even a first-tier god was reaching its limit.
Its psychic energy was nearly exhausted.
"Close combat won't work… long-range won't work either…"
Red clenched his fists.
"Dragon Claw!"
Charizard's claws glowed emerald green.
It launched forward like an arrow—
Its speed had increased!
Was this Red's Battle Person talent activating?!
Mewtwo raised Protect.
Dragon Claw shattered it—
But Charizard was repelled.
Psychic energy wrapped around Charizard—
And hurled it downward!
Red barely stood—
When an orange meteor crashed into him!
BOOM!
Red and Charizard were flung into the river.
Silence fell over Cerulean Cave.
"IT'S OVER!"
"Charizard fell into the water!"
"What about Red?! He got crushed again!"
The Champions panicked.
[Sabrina]: ...@Red
Petty revenge.
The Awakening
Underwater—
Red opened his eyes.
He saw Charizard's gaze.
Steady. Unyielding.
Its tail flame still burned—
even beneath the water.
What am I doubting?
Charizard hasn't given up.
So how can I?
Light exploded.
From Red's pocket—
A gemstone shone brilliantly.
At the same moment—
Charizard's body erupted with radiant energy!
Its form began to change.
[Lance]: No way…
[Cynthia]: That's… Mega Evolution.
[Diantha]: Impossible. They don't even understand Mega Evolution!
[Leon]: Their bond has reached the absolute peak.
The King Descends
A massive water pillar erupted from the river.
Pressure crushed the cavern.
Rain poured like a celebration.
Blue flames ignited.
Red eyes glowed.
Steam hissed as rain evaporated.
Mega Charizard X.
Blackened body.
Azure flames.
Dragon claws.
A true king.
Red stood atop its back.
"Come, Mewtwo."
"Round two begins."
