Chapter 16 - Alright, Alright… We’ll Do It Your Way From Now On

This was exactly the effect Jiang Chen wanted.

Watching the test subject lying flat on the floor, he didn't bother checking further.

Instead, he turned to Diona with a pleasant smile:

"Make a few more of those for me, please."

"And bottle them up."

Hearing that, Diona's eyes practically sparkled.

"It's for dealing with drunkards?"

"Alright!"

"I'll make them right now!"

"This idea is amazing!"

She was so excited she could barely keep still.

"I won't take your money—thanks for giving me this method!"

"If my dad wants to drink again, I'll just give him this."

"As long as he knocks out cold, everything will be fine."

"This is perfect!"

Half-drunk drunks were terrifying.

Fully unconscious drunks were adorable—they only snored.

And on top of that?

This batch had "special enhancements."

When they woke up tomorrow, their heads would feel like a thousand hilichurls were drumming inside.

Just imagining it made Diona almost giddy.

She immediately got to work.

Jiang Chen smiled even brighter.

"Well then, let me give you some more suggestions."

"Your drinks taste great, but you can add… unique effects."

"Like a drink that makes them run to the toilet all night."

"Or one that guarantees wetting the bed."

"Let them understand what really happens after drinking too much."

"Just imagine—after a few incidents, would they dare get drunk again?"

"After all, what's scarier than a hangover?"

"Social death."

"Collapse in front of everyone once, and they'll never forget it."

Diona's eyes shone brighter and brighter with every sentence.

Lumine turned to look at Jiang Chen, speechless.

Is this man a demon?

This wasn't ruining someone's buzz—

this was ruining someone's dignity.

If Diona really mass-produced this stuff, half of Mondstadt's drinkers were going to socially die.

"Thank you!!"

"I'm writing all of this down!!"

"I'll do exactly what you said from now on!"

If it helped people quit drinking, she would do it without hesitation.

Diona immediately pulled out a notebook and scribbled down every detail like a diligent student.

Then she returned to mixing.

She didn't know who Jiang Chen planned to use these drinks on,

but she poured in extra "love" anyway.

After all, she knew full well how irresistible her drinks were to drunkards—

even if she really didn't want to admit it.

It didn't take long for her to prepare the batch—

three bottles in total.

Jiang Chen inspected them and nodded in satisfaction.

"What's your name, by the way?"

Diona asked as she handed them over.

She hadn't asked earlier.

"Jiang Chen."

"This is Lumine, and that's Paimon."

"Got it! I'll remember."

"And don't drink alcohol yourselves!"

"Alcohol is evil!"

Diona puffed up her cheeks in seriousness.

She definitely didn't want the person who gave her such a divine idea to end up becoming a drunkard too.

"Don't worry. I don't drink."

Jiang Chen chuckled.

In his previous life, he barely drank anything stronger than beer.

He was absolutely safe.

With the bottles secured, Jiang Chen and Lumine left.

As soon as the door closed—

Diona got to work again.

A new wave of alcohol aroma drifted through the tavern.

Those who were already a little tipsy immediately gathered around, begging her for a drink.

Diona's smile instantly turned wicked.

"Hah. Perfect."

"You bunch of fools."

She happily mixed drinks,

one cup for each eager customer.

Within minutes—

The entire tavern went silent.

Diona looked around at the drunkards collapsed all over the floor and felt nothing but joy.

"Hmph!"

"Serves you right!"

Someone would toss them out later anyway.

She returned to her notebook with excitement.

She had a lot to test.

She just hoped the tavern owner wouldn't cry when he saw this scene.

It wasn't even evening yet.

How did an entire tavern of customers get knocked out?

Anyone walking in would be confused.

Sure enough, later arrivals froze at the entrance—

but once they heard Diona had made a new drink,

their fear evaporated.

Who didn't love Diona's drinks?

Her mixology was legendary.

Otherwise, who would choose this tiny tavern over Mondstadt's richest winery?

Meanwhile—

Jiang Chen and Lumine had no idea the chaos they caused.

After getting the bottles, they continued wandering the city.

Soon, they split up.

Lumine and Paimon went shopping for clothes—

Jiang Chen, of course, refused to accompany them.

Shopping with girls was torture.

So he explored Mondstadt alone.

At the same time—

Acting Grand Master Jean, following Jiang Chen's lead, finally found Venti.

He had just been enjoying a nice drink when—

The Knights of Favonius walked in.

Not just anyone—

Jean, Lisa, and Kaeya were leading the squad.

Venti froze.

Every top-ranking knight had gathered.

What did he do now?

Was his identity exposed?

He sobered up instantly.

Someone must've sold me out! Right?!

"Sir Venti," Jean said politely,

"please come with us. We have questions for you."

Oh.

They were still calling him Venti, not "Lord Barbatos."

Venti quietly exhaled in relief.

Maybe his identity was still safe…

Though he still had no idea what Jean wanted.

But he nodded anyway.

"Alright. Lead the way."

Jean and the others escorted him back to headquarters.

All of this was seen by Diluc.

Watching the "bard" get escorted by the top of the Knights, Diluc frowned.

What was wrong with that poet?

His identity…

was not simple.

The Darknight Hero felt something was off.

That green-haired drunk had only appeared recently—

and now he was suddenly being summoned by all of Mondstadt's leadership?

Suspicious.

Diluc made a mental note to investigate later.
