Chapter 11 - Wind Glider? I Can Already Fly!

Jiang Chen and Lumine finalized their plans for the coming days.

Once everything was settled, Lumine left.

A lone man and a lone woman had nothing more to talk about at this hour—

and Lumine definitely wasn't the type to just hand herself over.

With their future arrangements confirmed, she returned to her room to sleep.

She had spent far more time wandering the wilds than Jiang Chen; a real bed was a luxury she desperately needed.

After seeing her off, Jiang Chen also turned in for the night.

The next morning, a knock at his door woke him.

"Jiang Chen, are you awake?"

Yawning, Jiang Chen rolled out of bed, scratched his head, and opened the door.

Amber stood outside, waiting politely.

She had knocked on Lumine's door as well.

"Morning," Jiang Chen greeted, still half-asleep.

"Good morning! Jiang Chen, we'll be meeting Acting Grand Master Jean soon.

Please get ready."

"I will."

Jiang Chen nodded, and the moment he finished speaking, his clothes shifted—

his sleepwear instantly transforming into the outfit he wore yesterday.

Amber froze.

…Clothes that can change on command?

So convenient!

If she had that, choosing outfits every day would be heaven.

Jealousy aside, she headed over to check on Lumine.

Jiang Chen washed up, fixed his hair, and then went to Lumine's room.

She was already awake.

She didn't need makeup—her face was naturally flawless.

Paimon was even simpler: wash face, brush teeth, done.

"Let's go," Jiang Chen said.

Amber and Lumine nodded.

Everyone headed downstairs.

"Wait for me!" Paimon called out, flapping after them.

After checking out, Amber bought everyone potato pancakes for breakfast.

"I already explained everything to Acting Grand Master Jean yesterday," Amber told them as she walked.

"So she wants to meet you three today."

She didn't say the rest:

that Jean also wanted to confirm whether Jiang Chen's story about Barbatos was true.

But Jiang Chen understood her tone perfectly.

Lumine glanced sideways at him.

What now?

Jiang Chen only gave her a calm look: Relax.

As they reached Mond's main plaza near the Anemo Archon statue, Jiang Chen spotted a familiar figure.

A bard.

Green clothes.

A lyre.

Venti.

A slow smile curved on Jiang Chen's lips.

Perfect.

He'd just thought of a new plan.

Sell Venti later.

Lumine saw him too but kept quiet.

Paimon was too focused on breakfast to notice anything.

Watching Venti accept donations and bless people in the name of "the wind god," Lumine fell silent.

…Yeah.

Totally unreliable.

Which made Jiang Chen's future scheme all the more feasible.

Once the group disappeared down the road, Venti finally looked over—

but since they were gone, he shrugged and kept collecting Mora.

He needed wine.

Desperately.

Yesterday he comforted Dvalin all day, didn't drink a single drop—

absolute torture.

He planned to head to Angel's Share right after.

He just hoped Jiang Chen and Lumine would keep their promise and not expose him.

If Mond's citizens learned their Archon had fallen to the point of earning Mora by busking…

The believers' morale would collapse.

Venti shuddered at the thought and hurried off toward the tavern.

Jiang Chen and Lumine knew none of this.

They followed Amber through the streets, chatting along the way.

Amber handed out two gifts.

Wind Gliders—one for Lumine, one for Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen waved his hand instantly.

"I don't need that.

I can already fly."

Amber blinked.

"…You can fly?"

She looked him up and down, baffled.

"It's true," Lumine confirmed.

"He doesn't need it."

Amber hesitated, but eventually accepted it.

Even so, she still handed the glider to Jiang Chen.

"Take it. It's a gift from me to a friend!

Even if you don't use it, keep it as a memento."

Her tone made it clear:

If you don't accept this, I'm not your friend.

Jiang Chen sighed.

"…Alright, I'll take it."

He held the glider in his hand—a palm-sized folded piece of alchemical equipment.

It could merge into one's body and be summoned when needed.

With the scale shrunk down, it looked like a small toy.

Amber continued:

"After we meet Acting Grand Master Jean, I'll teach you how to use them.

In Mond, using a Wind Glider requires a Flight License!

If you fly without one, you'll get fined!"

Lumine silently memorized the rule.

She still needed the glider to travel; her full power—and her own wings—were far from restored.

Jiang Chen didn't care about the rules.

Flying was just something he did.

Soon, Amber led them to the territory of the Knights of Favonius.

Unlike the game's single building, the real headquarters was an entire district—

large, fortified, and bustling with knights.

The difference between the real world and the game was obvious.

Amber guided them straight inside.
