"Say something, Alex… you know it's yours." Tiffany said again, her voice trembling as I didn't speak the first time. She looked up at me with desperate, teary eyes, clearly needing reassurance from me.
"I don't know, Tiff… your husband is pretty sure. I think he might be right," I said, even though I knew fully well the child in Tiffany's womb was mine. I wanted to see how she would react, to push her a little and enjoy the power I held over her in this moment.
"No, Alex… you know I haven't been sleeping with him for a long time, even before you moved into this building," Tiffany said, her voice breaking as tears started rolling down her cheeks.
She had been begging me to make her pregnant, and now that she was, she thought I had changed, that I was denying responsibility and leaving her to deal with the consequences alone.
