Charlie stepped out of the Stretchable Charm suitcase, no one else was in the dorm.
He'd been accumulating a nice stash of Tyrant Points lately. Perfect time for a round of lottery draws.
"System, show me how many Tyrant Points I've got right now."
[Reporting to His Majesty: You currently possess 1,477 Tyrant Points. You may draw 147 times. Would you like to begin immediately?]
"Do it." Charlie rubbed his hands together, full of anticipation for what goodies he might get this time.
[Congratulations, Your Majesty. Skill proficiency increased: Sectumsempra +10]
[Congratulations, Your Majesty. Skill proficiency increased: Expecto Patronum +15]
[Congratulations, Your Majesty. Skill proficiency increased: Densaugeo +20]
…
Just as expected, mostly proficiency boosts again.
And Densaugeo? What am I gonna do, max this to level five and grow front teeth for Mother Earth?
He was just starting to feel numb with disappointment when-
[Congratulations, Your Majesty. You have obtained 2 Free Attribute Points.]
Charlie's eyes lit up.
Finally, something decent.
Attribute Points were far more valuable than single spell proficiencies, they enhanced entire fields of magic.
A higher Charms aptitude meant more powerful spells.
A higher Potions aptitude improved potion quality significantly.
With these two points, Charlie was more than satisfied with the draw.
[Congratulations, Your Majesty. You have obtained the recipe: Soulhealing Elixir.]
"Wait, now that's a real prize." Charlie sat up straighter.
"Soulhealing Elixir? What's it for?"
[Your Majesty, the Soulhealing Elixir heals damage to the soul. It is effective against Dementor attacks, dark magic corrosion, and trauma from soul fragmentation or separation.]
That was a true treasure!
Most spells couldn't touch the soul directly, but potions could.
And if he ever encountered soul-based attacks in the future, he'd now have a way to recover.
A surge of information flooded into Charlie's mind.
The brewing process was extremely complex, and the required materials were quite rare.
But none of that was a problem for Charlie, who quite literally sat on a mountain of gold.
As long as he had the recipe, he could make it work.
Charlie nodded, satisfied.
This round had gone well, besides the Soulhealing Elixir, he'd earned 2 Attribute Points and a truckload of spell experience.
Adding in the 1 unspent point from last time, he now had 3 total.
"System, assign all Attribute Points to Potions. Show me my current stat sheet."

His Patronus Charm had just leveled up. Charlie eagerly drew his wand, itching to test the improved version.
"Expecto Patronum!"
Magical energy surged from the tip of his wand.
This time, the silver light was far denser. It began to coalesce in midair, forming the shape of a long, sinuous creature, though its features remained blurred.
Wait a minute…
That head… those horns… the flowing body… and claw-like limbs,
"Is that a dragon?"
Charlie's heart raced.
But not a Western fire-breathing dragon…
This was an Eastern Celestial Dragon!
Its elegant, serpentine body drifted gracefully through the air.
Though still incomplete in form, the sacred, majestic presence it exuded was already beginning to take shape.
For a tyrant like him, having a dragon as a Patronus?
Fitting. Very fitting.
Charlie couldn't wait to see what it looked like once fully formed.
…
Leaving the dorm, Charlie headed straight for the dungeons.
The Soulhealing Elixir required a long list of materials, many of them rare ingredients.
Sure, he could buy them in Diagon Alley, but Snape's private stock was far higher quality, and it saved him a trip.
Their relationship might not be the warmest, but paying for ingredients shouldn't be an issue.
Charlie knocked on the door to Snape's office.
The door opened on its own. Snape sat behind his desk, grading papers with his usual lifeless expression.
When he saw it was Charlie, a flicker of surprise crossed his face, quickly replaced by guarded suspicion.
Their relationship was hardly what you'd call cordial, mutual disdain, at best.
If Charlie had shown up, it had to be trouble.
"Good afternoon, Professor."
Charlie greeted him politely.
Snape set down his quill, his gaze cold.
"Mr. White, if you have something to say, make it quick. I don't have time to waste."
Charlie got straight to the point.
"I'd like to purchase some potion ingredients."
He pulled a piece of parchment from his robes and handed it over.
Snape's brow twitched slightly as he accepted the list.
Charlie White, studying potions of his own volition? Buying extra ingredients for practice?
He skimmed the list, and raised an eyebrow.
Moonstone powder. Mandrake root. Pickled toad brains…
This combination didn't match any potion recipe he recognized.
Snape looked up, sneering slightly.
"So, Mr. White now fancies himself a potion master, does he?"
"Or do you perhaps believe you're more clever than those who've spent decades perfecting the craft?"
To be fair, based on Charlie's performance in class, Snape could imagine him successfully developing new potions someday, in sixth or seventh year.
But now? First year, half a term in?
That was nothing but arrogance.
Just like that unbearable Potter boy.
Charlie, however, remained unfazed.
He was long used to Snape's eternally grumpy tone.
Honestly, the man was being quite gentle today.
Still, it was odd, Snape hadn't heard of the Soulhealing Elixir?
[Reporting to His Majesty: The Soulhealing Elixir has not yet been discovered. It is a unique potion formula developed by the System.]
"Professor's right. I've got a long way to go," Charlie said cheerfully, spreading his hands.
"I just have some ideas I wanted to test. Even if I fail, I'll still learn something from the process."
Snape stared at him for a long moment, as if trying to pierce through to his soul with those deep black eyes.
Charlie returned the gaze without flinching, flashing a harmless, innocent smile.
"And I'll pay fair market price. I wouldn't dream of cheating you."
He added the final line smoothly.
Snape fell silent.
The ingredients on the list were indeed rare, some were exceedingly difficult to obtain.
But the fact that Charlie could even compose such a list showed he knew far more about Potions than he let on.
Snape didn't believe Charlie would succeed, but at least he wasn't boasting like those idiotic Gryffindors.
Finally, Snape rose from his seat and walked toward the storeroom at the back of the office.
"Follow me."
Charlie obeyed.
Inside the storeroom, the walls were lined with shelves filled with all manner of bottles and jars, each holding strange powders, liquids, or glowing substances.
