Chapter 9 - Lefiya's Repayment

The incredibly heavy brass shield carried an immense impact force, slamming directly into the "Goblin Guard's" head and sending its massive frame flying.

BOOM!

The giant monster collapsed between the walls, leaving an even more terrifying crater in its wake. It sat there, appearing dazed, clutching its helmet—twisted and deformed from the impact. It staggered, attempting to stand, only to fall back down again.

"Do you guys still have a Healer? Treat them first!"

He had no time to pay attention to these students.

Isagi shouted this without looking back, then once again dropped the brass greatshield in his hand. He pulled his greatsword from where it was lodged in the wall, along with a dagger hidden at his wrist.

The boy lowered his body, sinking slightly as if settling into a horse stance.

He swung the giant sword with his right hand, resting it on his shoulder, while his left hand held the dagger in a reverse grip, the blade radiating a thick, ominous crimson glow.

The next second, he shot out like a cannonball towards the "Goblin Guard" still sitting against the wall.

"Strip that armor!"

Blacksmiths possessing the [Blacksmith] Developmental Ability can imbue crafted equipment with "special attributes".

Although Isagi is still a Level 1 adventurer, the weapons in his hands are basically at the standard of Level 3 armaments. If calculated by market price, the total value of the weaponry on his person amounts to nearly ten million Valis, all being casually carried around the Dungeon.

Unlike his armor, these weapons were poured with Cecil's blood, sweat, and tears over the past year. Isagi didn't dare break them casually; otherwise, she would definitely "hunt him down"!

The girl could even forge Magic Swords; he had several spares hidden in his backpack...

...

The greatsword in Isagi's hand, "Great Fortune", possessed a special [Armor Break] ability. Now, with every swing, the "shell" on the "Goblin Guard"—haphazardly wrapped in unknown layers of leather, chain, and plate mail—shattered, turning into countless fragments that scattered down. Finally, more or less, it revealed the dark green, obese body underneath.

And seizing this opportunity.

Isagi swiftly stabbed the dagger in his left hand viciously into the exposed flesh.

"ROAAAR!!!"

The monster let out an explosive scream. Seeming to finally feel the pain, it violently turned over and actually started rolling around the cavern chamber.

Its massive body, clad in thick armor, was now like a giant iron ball, rampaging wildly.

Isagi could only try his best to lure it away from the students.

At the same time.

Fortunately, this guy's madness didn't last long. After rolling for a while, the "Goblin Guard" was a bit dizzy and tried to crawl up from the ground. Its giant axe had long since fallen far away, so facing Isagi who was still right in front of it, it could only swing its fists in impotent rage, smashing about indiscriminately.

It was just too slow.

In Isagi's eyes at this moment, the "Goblin Guard's" movements seemed to have entered some kind of slow-motion state.

This is it! When adrenaline reaches its limit, in this boy's most tense moment!!

Isagi became calm to the extreme. He seemed to have completely lost all emotion; in his eyes, only the existence of this massive monster remained.

Then, just as before: Greatsword strips armor, dagger stabs in. Dense, continuously bleeding wounds appeared one after another on the monster's massive body.

Accumulating, accumulating.

Until...

Isagi swung the giant sword with his right hand again, completely prying open the massive monster's chest armor, revealing the bulging stomach pouch behind it, covered in hair and pus-filled blood.

Once again, for the umpteenth time, he thrust the dagger in his hand.

"Burst!!"

A forceful slash!

The dagger "Brown Sugar", possessing the abnormal trait of [Bleed], after countless accumulations, finally triggered a "Big Explosion" inside the monster's body!

"Pfft pfft pfft pfft pfft pfft pfft"!!

In the distant corridor, Lefiya, who was treating her classmates with her surviving friend, only saw the foul-smelling dark blue blood gushing out like a fountain from the monster's enormous body.

Isn't this too exaggerated?!

But what was even more exaggerated was that the "Goblin Guard" still wasn't dead!!

It crashed down, but surprisingly tried to struggle back up.

But Isagi wouldn't give it that chance again. Dragging his giant sword, the boy walked slowly to the monster, then drove his weapon viciously into its head.

Execution!

Now, the "Goblin Guard" was finally thoroughly dead.

The boy silently dug out a massive Magic Stone from its body. Simultaneously, the monster's body, along with the previously dropped armor and weapons, turned to ash and dissipated.

What was left behind was a giant bone.

Jackpot.

No, a Drop Item appeared. Isagi walked over and picked it up. The bone was a dull black, looking like the "Goblin Guard's" thigh bone.

Not only was it very thick, but just from the feel of it, it was exceptionally hard.

I'll take it back to Cecil; maybe she can forge a shield out of it. After all, I only have one brass greatshield right now. But as everyone knows, holding a shield in your hand while carrying another on your back is the only way to feel safe!

"Phew..."

Isagi put away his weapons, letting his mood gradually return to calm. Then, he looked at the corridor leading to the 2nd Floor, and then at the boys and girls lying in disarray in the cavern on the other side.

After thinking about it, he decided to send them back to the surface first.

Not only for safety's sake, but also to verify a guess of his...

...

Fortunately, the girl who was pulling Lefiya back earlier and even wanted to run away was a Healer.

After a round of healing magic and drinking stamina recovery potions, these students recovered some mobility. Those who really couldn't walk were carried. Plus, being on the 1st Floor, they found other adventurers to help along the way, and soon returned to the surface.

The journey was safe; they didn't encounter those "special monsters" spawned by the Dungeon specifically targeting Isagi.

This was the guess he wanted to verify.

After those special monsters appear and are defeated by him, it takes a long time for them to "respawn". This should be a characteristic of all monsters in the Dungeon—except for special situations like a [Monster Party], a place won't continuously spawn monsters.

Also, the Dungeon's "malice" towards him should have an upper limit. For example, with the "Goblin Guard" just now, if the Dungeon spawned another one mid-fight for a dual boss battle, how the hell would he play?

If it wasn't just dual bosses, but three, four... it would be impossible to fight!!

"There should be a mechanism similar to an energy bar on each floor. Generating special monsters for me consumes it, and recovery takes time..."

Standing at the Dungeon entrance.

Isagi muttered to himself while taking out a notebook to record these guesses.

It was densely packed with notes on the special monsters he had encountered in the Dungeon these past days, as well as characteristics, countermeasures, and summaries of various traps.

Do you understand the value of study notes?!

Conquering the Dungeon is also a profound academic discipline. Learn! Learning is endless!!

"H... Hello!"

A girl's sudden voice pulled Isagi's gaze from the pages back to the front.

The sky was getting dark, the orange sun drooping low. Unknowingly, the entire afternoon had passed.

There are usually guards from the Ganesha Familia at the Dungeon entrance. As Orario's city "Military Police", they are responsible for maintaining the city's operation and order. Naturally, they helped send the injured District students to the Dian Cecht Familia's pure white infirmary.

But Lefiya didn't go with them.

Because...

"I want to repay you!"

"Huh?"
