Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: Power of the Dragon

"A Gaia Memory? What is that?" Danny Rand was confused by the question. Since when did something like that appear in New York?

Danny Rand had just returned to New York, inherited his father's company, Rand Corp, and immediately started looking for traces of the Hand, paying little attention to anything else.

He was wandering the streets when he saw the strangely dressed Dopants surrounding Jessica, Luke, and the little girl, and immediately jumped into the fray.

"You really don't know anything!"

The man, who had transformed into an Energy Dopant, chuckled strangely, "Then I'll let you experience the terrifying power of the Gaia Memory for yourself. Remember this well in your next life, and don't be a busybody again."

With that, a thick arc of electricity leaped from his hand and shot towards Danny Rand.

"Look out!" Jessica cried out in alarm. She had already pulled out her Clay Doll Memory and was ready to transform and block the current.

However, Danny remained calm in the face of the horrifying electricity. He activated the Power of the Dragon, and golden dragon-shaped flames of chi appeared around his fists.

He directly grabbed the powerful current released by the Dopant—enough to instantly kill an ordinary person.

With a slight squeeze, the electricity was nullified into nothingness under the effect of the Power of the Dragon.

"I didn't think you'd have some tricks up your sleeve. No wonder you dared to interfere. But if you think you can fight me with just that, you're delusional."

The Dopant was slightly surprised that Danny easily blocked his electric attack, but he remained very confident in his own power.

Although he didn't know the source of Danny Rand's strength, it clearly seemed to be usable only on his fists.

So the Dopant unleashed even more powerful electrical energy, controlling an overwhelming, all-encompassing current that surged towards Danny from every direction.

Seeing the Dopant's plan, Danny immediately understood and scoffed disdainfully, "The greatness of the Power of the Dragon is beyond the comprehension of a nobody like you."

The dragon shadows on his fists let out a resounding roar, and the golden flames danced, swallowing all the currents like two black holes.

Dozens of terrifying electric currents, as thick as ropes, failed to cause any ripple.

"How is this possible?" The Dopant's voice was full of disbelief. The electrical energy released in that move should have been enough to instantly reduce a person to charcoal. When he tested it before, it could instantly vaporize a wooden stick as thick as an arm.

Yet, Danny Rand had effortlessly nullified it into thin air.

"I don't know what a Gaia Memory is, but since you are collaborating with the Hand, tell me what you know about the Hand, and I might consider going easy on you," Danny Rand slowly walked toward the Dopant.

"Damn it! I don't believe it! How can you be so strong without a Gaia Memory!" The Dopant continued to unleash electric attacks, but they were all easily blocked by Danny Rand's Power of the Dragon, causing him to scream in frustration.

"All of you, attack! Stop him! He only has that strange power on his two hands. He can't deal with all of us at once!"

Seeing that his proud electric attack was ineffective, he immediately shouted for his henchmen to surround Danny.

However, Danny Rand was trained in K'un-Lun, and his martial arts skills, at the very least, met K'un-Lun's passing standards.

In terms of combat skills, he was completely performing a dimensionality reduction strike against these gang members who were only used to street brawls.

Furthermore, Danny Rand was at least an entry-level practitioner of chi, and with the augmentation of chi, his physical fitness was not inferior to these cannon fodder using mass-produced Memories.

Although it was a one-against-many fight, the situation was completely one-sided.

Fearing that he might accidentally kill someone with a punch, Danny deliberately put away the Power of the Dragon, fighting only with his own chi.

This was also because Danny Rand's cultivation was not deep enough, and his control over the Power of the Dragon was still not proficient, making it easy for him to be heavy-handed.

Watching Danny fluently and easily knock down all his subordinates, the man who had transformed into the Energy Dopant cursed under his breath.

He directly pulled out two hand grenades and, without caring if he would injure his own people, threw them directly at Danny Rand.

Seeing the grenades thrown at him, Danny inwardly cried "not good."

With a thought, the Power of the Dragon appeared on his fists. He swept his right leg, sweeping the gang members he had just knocked down behind him.

The dragon-shadow flames of chi swirled with the movement of his fists, forming a shield to block in front of him.

Danny Rand used the Power of the Dragon to block the shrapnel from the hand grenade explosion.

The unlucky Luke Cage, who was still numb from the Dopant's electric current and hadn't fully recovered, was lifted off his feet by the blast.

When the fire and smoke from the explosion cleared, the Energy Dopant had vanished.

"He runs fast," Danny snorted softly.

A dusty Luke Cage stood up, dusted off his clothes, and his tattered clothes, ravaged by the powerful electric current and then the explosion, finally shredded into countless pieces of cloth.

Luke cursed, "Fuck!"

He cautiously checked his pants, and only when he confirmed that they were fine did he let out a sigh of relief.

The corner of Danny's mouth curled up as he looked at Luke Cage: "Are you alright?"

It looked like Luke had also fought the electric monster and was affected by the grenade, yet he still seemed full of life—he was clearly no ordinary person.

Luke shook his head: "I'm fine. This little bit of power can't hurt me."

"My name is Danny Rand. So, what's your situation? Why were you attacked by these people? And what is this Gaia Memory thing?" Danny asked curiously.

"So, you two are detectives hired to protect this little girl. And the Gaia Memory is a mysterious item that suddenly appeared in New York's black market, capable of giving people special abilities."

Danny learned the general situation from Jessica and Luke and frowned. It seemed things were more complicated than he had thought.

If he hadn't possessed the Power of the Dragon, he probably wouldn't have been able to handle the guy who could use lightning just now.

If this item called the Gaia Memory possessed such power, the impact it could cause would certainly not be simple.

"Big brother, you're so amazing. You beat up so many bad guys all by yourself so easily. Was that kung fu? Is the energy on your fists some kind of magic?"

The little girl, Lily, who was protected by Jessica, peeked out cautiously after seeing the bad guys trying to kidnap her being defeated, and asked Danny curiously.

Danny smiled: "The Big Brother's moves were indeed an ancient martial art passed down from the East. But the power on my fists is not magic; it's a power granted by the Dragon."

"The Dragon's power! That's so cool!" Lily's bright eyes sparkled.

Luke Cage, however, was a little annoyed: "If Jessica and I hadn't arrived in time, you little brat would have already been taken by those guys from the 'Thunder Gang.' Why didn't you praise me when I was beating up those punks before? And why is he 'Big Brother,' but I'm 'Uncle'!"

Lily stuck out her tongue: "But this Big Brother's martial arts are really cool! Not like you, who just fights directly. Besides, Uncle, you were clearly knocked down by that weird guy's electricity, and it was Big Brother who chased him away."

"..." Luke Cage's veins bulged, and he glared fiercely at the little girl.

However, the little girl also noticed that despite Luke Cage's tough appearance and physique, he was actually a good person and wasn't really angry with her.

She playfully stuck out her tongue, rolled her eyes, and hid behind Jessica.

Jessica gently patted the little girl's head, then spoke to Danny: "It sounds like you have a feud with that organization called the Hand."

Luke Cage's expression grew slightly solemn, and he whispered, "We'd better not get involved with the Hand."

Luke had also heard of the Hand organization. It was a terrifying, ruthless, and powerful criminal group.
