Bolt's pained roar shook the entire valley. The severed tail slammed into the ground, carving a deep trench and sending wild arcs of blue lightning flying in every direction. The smell of burnt earth and scorched grass spread quickly. Soldiers closest to the impact backed away, shielding their faces from the stray bolts.
Scarlett had landed dozens of meters away.
She kept her sword raised, her breathing a little heavier than before. The attack had worked, but dodging that constant lightning barrage while looking for an opening had taken everything she had. One wrong step and she would have been ashes.
High above, Bolt beat its massive wings hard, trying to stay steady.
The pain only made it angrier.
Lightning gathered around its body in thick streams, hissing and crackling so loudly the air itself seemed ready to tear apart. The wound where its tail used to be no longer bled normally — blue-white lightning poured out instead, as if its blood had turned into thunder.
