The ground shook with each blast, like an earthquake. Tall pillars of dust and debris rose into the air. Buildings collapsed in the distance. Roads split open. Vehicles burned where they stood. The constant thunder of artillery mixed with the roar of aircraft overhead.
Meanwhile, Kiara stood inside a military helicopter, the side door wide open. The wind rushed in and whipped against her hair and clothes. The sharp smell of burning metal and scorched concrete rose from the battlefield far below. She watched everything with cold eyes.
