Dilly's skin crawled as she walked out of her door, She looked up in an attempt to get a glimpse of the full moon but fear gripped her. Her obsession with nature never makes sense to her but it makes her happy, she knows fully well that it was not just an ordinary love for nature, there is more to it. Most especially her obsession with the full moon, not even her fear of what happened the last full moon can stop her from watching the new moon. She has never questioned her love for watching the moon but as she shut the door she wondered what she was doing. For the first time since she began to step out to watch the full moon, she left her camera behind.
Her heart beat drastically as she walked down the small stairs that leads to her room. It's been a whole month since she encountered the weird creature. Surprisingly since her encounter with the creature, she stopped having her usual scary dreams.
She could not deny the fact that she misses Mat, the last time she heard from him he told her he would be extending his stay in Paris. She already made her mind up, she would not tell him about the vampire, he would not be able to wrap his head around it. He had sensed that she was being nervous about something but he could not place it.
What if she was just hallucinating? What if the vampire was waiting for her to show up again?
A beep from her phone sent her out of her wild thoughts. She put the phone close to her face, she did not wear her glasses for some reasons best known to her ,instead she left it hanging around her neck. If the creature appears again this time around, she did not want to see it.
It was a text from Ryan. She smiled sheepishly. Since their little lunch date, they have been texting often.
"Hey D.. What are you up to?"
He calls her D. She likes the way it makes her feel, if she was being honest with her self.
She worked her fingers on the keypad hurridely.
"Getting ready to go to sleep" She lied. He had specifically warned her to stay indoor when it gets dark. She appreciates his concern but he would not tell her how to live her life.
"Okay, stay indoor and be safe"
She scoffed.
"Stay indoor my ass" She said almost in a whisper.
She hummed quietly as she tiptoed towards the backyard. It was dark as usual but it lit up a bit from the lightening the moon provided. She stopped to admire the moon, it was unusually round and bigger.
Ryan would freak out if he has the slightest idea she was out watching the moon. She let out a small laugh wondering why he cared at all.
But it made her feel safe, to know that there was someone that cares about her.
The atmosphere became tense as she walked into the depth of the garden that sat pretty at the backyard. The breeze whispered harshly into her ears, like it was going to rain. She put on her glasses not wanting to take chances anymore. She looked around nervously, like she was waiting for something to happen. Nothing, except for the sound of crickets calling to their mates.
She turned back swiftly in an attempt to move closer to the house incase she needs to run.
A loud roar behind her stopped her in her tracks, she tried to lift her legs but she could not. The roar came again but it sounded faint this time around.
She was not dreaming, she was so sure. The creature had come. The atmosphere became windy as she struggled to make her way back towards the house.
She let out a shrill scream as she ran back to the house.
Warm hands grabbed her arm sending shivers across her body. She turned in time to see a pale face and blood shot eyes staring down at her. She could not tell if she was really seeing the familiar sharp jawline and round lips. She could tell from his eyes that it was him, even though they were bloodshot.
Ryan growled as his fangs grew out of his mouth, he closed his eyes in an attempt to stop the hot wave that washed through his entire body.
"I won't hurt her , I won't hurt her" he chorused taking few steps backwards.
His eyes met hers and his muscles tensed. Big brown eyes stare back at him in disbelief.
"Yo...u....You?" She stuttered.
"I told you to stay at indoor" he growled.
She opened her mouth but closed it back slowly as she watched his face go from pale to extremely handsome. It was really Ryan. Her glasses had come off while she tried to run but she could see him clearly. Her body failed her no matter how hard she fought to stay strong. She staggered backwards hoping that she would make it home before he grabs her again. She could feel the weight of her entire body as her eyes closed.
He caught her in time and held her close against his chest, his heavy breath echoed in his ears.
"You should have stayed in" He whispered to no one in particular.
"You should have listened to me D."
He lifted her and walked gently towards her apartment.
"This was bound to happen" he thought.
I bet. The small voice in his head teased as usual.
He punched in the passcode to her pink door, walked in briskly and placed her on the bed gently. He went to the kitchen to fetch cold water and a napkin to regulate her temperature. At least he would not have to explain to her how he got the passcode to her door. If she already knows what he is, then she would know that he possess special senses.
He sat at the edge of the bed, her face looks like blood was draining from it, her lips were dry and turned down in a frown. She looked peaceful, he traced his fingers across her smooth cheek. His stomach turned in excitement as he watched her with keen interest. He finally understands this confusing feeling, He likes her!
It hurt him that she might shut him out of her life completely.
"That is fine" he thought. The more distance between them, the safer she would be. He can always watch after her from a far distance.
Nothing concerns him more than the implication of the issue. He wondered how his mother would react if she finds out.
What will the clan do to her if they find me? Is war going to break out?
Those are the questions that keep playing in his head over again.
If he wants Dilly to stay safe, then he has to stay far away from her. His chest tightened at the thought.
He squeezed water out of the napkin and placed it on her forehead.
