Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Dreamseer

That morning, the Asakura household felt as ordinary as ever.

The sun had just risen, the neighbor's rooster had finally stopped screaming, and Kaito… was still half-traumatized by what happened last night.

He sat at the dining table, staring blankly at a bowl of warm soup.

His mother frowned at him.

"Kaito? Are you sick?"

"No…" he muttered flatly. "My head's just… full."

Of course it was full.

How could it not be?

A dream he had always dismissed as random nonsense had appeared right at his doorstep. Same voice. Same expression. Same words.

People usually compare dreams to reality…

But he was comparing reality to his dreams.

After breakfast, Kaito stepped outside with a heavy sigh.

"Hmmm… if yesterday counts as the third day…"

"That means she'll transfer next Solenday, right?"

"…God, I wish this was just a dream. But nope. My cheek still hurts from pinching myself…"

"Whatever. I'll just rest until Solenday…"

Two days passed—

And we return to the present.

Kaito left the house, waving goodbye to his parents as he headed for the Academy.

The moment he arrived, Zack was already waving dramatically.

"Oi, Kai! Why do you look like you wrestled a demon?"

"It felt worse than that," Kaito grumbled.

"What happened?"

Kaito hesitated, then pulled Zack into a corner.

"Last night… that noble we bumped into… she came to my house."

Zack froze.

One second.

Two seconds.

Three.

"You're JOKING, right?!"

"Who the hell jokes about being visited by a noble at TEN at night?! I'm not crazy, Zack!"

Kaito explained everything—the identical dialogue, Celestine's strange request, and the mission to befriend Lyria Kisaragi.

Oddly… Zack didn't laugh.

"…Kai."

"Hm?"

"If that's true… you're involved in something big."

"Why are YOU getting serious now?!"

Zack leaned against the wall.

"Celestine Vin Hertotames isn't just any noble. She's the daughter of a Duke. If she came to see you alone, at night, then—"

Kaito stiffened.

"…Zack. Why do you know that much?"

"Ah—hehe—I-I just read things, okay?! Sometimes… sometimes I read…"

Kaito narrowed his eyes.

"Suspicious answer."

"Shut up!"

Zack smacked his cheek lightly.

"Anyway—are you seriously going to follow her request?"

"What else can I do? She said I was 'chosen'… told me to help her… and told me to approach Lyria…"

"Wow. Your prologue is already like a novel."

"This isn't cool, Zack. This is stressful."

They entered the classroom.

When the bell rang, Kaito took his seat—still thinking about Celestine.

But the moment he sat down, a faint feeling crawled through his chest.

…déjà vu.

He glanced behind him.

Empty seat.

But in his dream, that seat was occupied by a girl impossible to forget.

"Relax, Kaito," he whispered to himself. "It was just a dr—"

Chtk.

The classroom door slid open.

The teacher walked in with a serious expression.

"Good morning. Before we begin, an announcement…"

Kaito tensed.

"…we have a new transfer student today."

His heart dropped straight to his feet.

No. No. No. Don't tell me—

"Please come in."

Soft footsteps echoed.

A short-haired girl with brown hair, glasses, gentle yet gloomy eyes… stepped inside.

Kaito's breath caught.

There she was.

Lyria Kisaragi.

Exactly like in his dream.

The teacher pointed to the empty seat behind Kaito.

"You may sit there."

Lyria bowed slightly and walked past him. A faint autumn scent followed her. Kaito lowered his head, trying not to panic.

The world froze.

From another seat, Zack mouthed dramatically:

"YOU'RE KIDDING?!"

Kaito mouthed back:

"I DON'T WANT THIS EITHER, DAMMIT."

Class continued… but Kaito couldn't focus.

Why is everything matching my dream?

Is this some sort of… prophecy skill?

Or just insane coincidence?

He stared at his notebook.

The writing was a mess.

But one thing was painfully clear:

Celestine told him to befriend Lyria.

And if his dream was real…

Lyria would only open up to him.

But—

Why am I suddenly terrified?

Break Time

Kaito swallowed hard.

As Lyria stood up from her seat, he recognized the moment from his dream.

In the dream, he spoke first…

Lyria opened her mouth—then hesitated.

Her eyes flickered toward him.

"…Um…"

"H-Hey…"

His voice shook like a leaf in a storm.

Lyria flinched, then bowed shyly.

"S-sorry… I'm… not used to talking to people…"

Perfectly identical to the dream.

Kaito shivered.

From the hall window, Zack peeked in and gave two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Kaito cursed internally.

He understood now.

The dream was no coincidence.

The noble appeared.

Lyria appeared.

The same words.

The same reactions.

These weren't ordinary dreams—

They were visions of the future.

And he, Kaito Asakura, for some unknown reason…

Was being dragged into a fate he never asked for.

Magic Practice Class

Lyria sat alone, head down… no one approached her.

Kaito finally walked over.

"Hey… why are you sitting here alone?"

Lyria's ears turned pink.

"I-I… can't really talk to people…"

"Mind if I sit?"

She nodded—very faintly—fingers fidgeting nervously.

"Uh… are you sick?"

The moment the words escaped his mouth, Kaito regretted everything.

"Why did I say something weird?!"

The atmosphere thickened awkwardly.

"I-I'm fine…" Lyria whispered.

Kaito scratched his head, searching for a topic.

"Uh… what food do you like?"

"H-Honeyberry Tart…"

She answered fast—embarrassed.

At least he got one useful detail.

Magic Test

Kaito went first.

He controlled all four basic elements—Ignis, Aqua, Fulga, Ventus.

Score: 97.

But he couldn't focus.

Lyria was next.

"…Lyria Kisaragi, please step forward."

She walked nervously.

She raised her hand.

No chant.

No incantation.

The elemental light flared to life instantly.

The class gasped.

Instructors swarmed her with interest.

Kaito recognized that look:

"A talent to be used."

He grabbed Lyria's wrist gently.

"Hey. Come with me for a moment."

"W-where… a-are we… going…?"

"Just come. The bell's almost up anyway."

Behind the Academy

Just like the dream.

They sat under the old tree.

Kaito sighed.

"Lyria… I want to talk about Celestine. Is that okay?"

No answer.

"Lyria?"

He touched her shoulder—

And—

She fainted, face bright red.

"…I went too far, didn't I?"

Kaito held his head in despair.

Even in the dream, she wasn't THIS panicked.

From afar, Zack watched.

Seeing Kaito with someone new made him feel oddly replaced…

Though he was proud too.

He raised two thumbs in approval.

Kaito wanted to bury himself alive.
