Chapter 2 - Two: Edward Cullen The Monster Hunter

Rose is super confused. Why the hell is a vampire fighting a wendigo? What the hell is going on here?

"Oh, hey there!" The vampire waves at her and then punches a wendigo on the stomach, and he goes flying toward the wall. "You must be a witch or werewolf. I thought you could use some help." He says in a British accent, and something like anger riles up inside of Rose.

This is her test, not his.

"I don't need help." she snaps, and then she brings out her claws and she growls. She runs toward the wendigos, and then she uses her claws on them. A werewolf's claws are pretty lethal to monsters. But the only way to kill a wendigo is to stab it with a golden sword.

She brings out a golden sword from her magical bag, and she stabs them one by one; they fall to their deaths.

This isn't even a Wendigo's true form. They can disguise themselves as humans, but they're very monstrous-looking.

"Not bad, beautiful." The vampire says with a smirk on his face. Rose growls, and she shoves the vampire away from her.

"Whoa!" The vampire falls on the couch.

She slices the wendigos, and they die one by one.

Rose still doesn't understand why a moroi vampire is killing monsters.

Yes, she has studied a lot about vampires. Especially after a vampire witch hybrid killed her parents.

There are different types of vampires. But the most popular ones are moroi and strigoi. The one "helping" her fight wendigos right now is a moroi. They usually have pale skin and silver eyes.

Morois are the only monsters that witches and werewolves aren't allowed to kill, unless they pose a threat to humanity.

A moroi drinks blood but doesn't kill; a strigoi kills when they drink blood.

Strigois are immortal, but morois aren't, but it takes a long time for them to grow old and die.

Strigois get killed by wood, Moroi get killed by silver.

The sun kills a strigoi, so they only roam at night. Morois walk during the daytime, but the sun weakens them. They have to wear sunglasses to keep themselves from getting sick.

Morois are fast and strong but Strigois are faster and stronger.

Each moroi has elemental powers, though. Water, fire, earth and air.

Morois are born, strigois are made.

If you turn a human into a vampire, they become strigoi, and if a moroi kills a human, they become strigoi.

Witches and werewolves are given tasks to kill a strigoi; it doesn't matter if they're not killing humans. Even when they're asleep, they're to be killed.

But morois are not to be touched.

Werewolves still hate moroi, though. Rose hates them because even though they don't pose a threat, she believes drinking blood is disgusting, regardless.

Now, why on earth is she thinking about vampires when she's fighting a wendigo? She's not here to fight vampires.

But she still doesn't understand why this moroi vampire is helping her. Morois barely cause trouble, and they're also pretentious elitist creatures who don't concern themselves with human affairs, so what is this?

Rose successfully kills the last wendigo, and she lets out a loud breath.

"Wow, not bad, beautiful." Rose gives the moroi vampire a look. She's about to say something, but someone walks in.

"What is the meaning of-" he stops when he sees the wendigos on the ground. Then he looks at Rose. "You did this," he says angrily. "You werewolves always ruin everything." The wendigo spits, and then he twists and turns, turning into his true form.

He becomes taller and skinnier, his skin decays, his eyes shrink but are still pitch black, he forms sharp, elongated claws longer than Rose's and antlers appear on his head.

"Bloody hell," The vampire says as he looks at the true form of the wendigo.

The wendigo lets out a scream. Rose and the vampire cover their ears. The others at the club won't be able to hear it because of the music.

When he's done screaming, Rose makes vines appear from the floor and traps him. He struggles.

"What the-" the vampire says, he cannot believe a werewolf just performed magic.

Rose groans as she tries to keep the wendigo down. But the wendigo frees himself, cutting the vines and then grabs Rose with his large hands and begins to squeeze her.

Rose moans in pain. No, she can't die; she cannot fail.

She twists and turns, trying to free herself from the wendigos grip. But he's that strong; the plan was to kill them in their human form because it's easier.

The weight of the wendigo's hand lessens, and she can breathe again. Rose looks up and sees the wendigo swishing his hands.

Rose furrows her brows in confusion. She doesn't understand why the monster is acting like he's being harassed by flies when there's nothing there.

"Hurry, I can't hold it much longer!" the vampire shouts and Rose looks at the vampire and from the blood coming out of his nose, it seems he's the one doing this.

She doesn't understand why, but she's going to attack now and ask questions later.

Rose mutters a spell that makes her hot, and the wendigo drops her. She picks up the golden sword and then stabs him with it. He screams, and Rose covers her ears. The wendigo begins to shrink; he goes back to his human form and then falls to the ground.

He's dead. And that is all the wendigos there are to kill.

"Whoa, that was amazing." Rose looks at the vampire, who cleans the blood on his nose while he smiles at her.

She walks over to him.

"Wow, you're even beautiful up close." He winks. Rose foams, and she throws the vampire to the ground and pins him down.

"Bloody hell!"

"What are you?"

"What am I?"

"Are you a hybrid? A witch and a vampire?"

"No, I'm just a vampire!"

"So how did you cast that spell? What did you do to that wendigo? You're not here to help me, you're here to turn humans into strigoi, aren't you?":

"What? No, no, no, I'm not here to turn humans into strigoi, that's vile also, I got into his mind to make him see flies to distract him. I'm not a witch, I'm just a vampire with spirit."

"Spirit?"

"Yeah, a fifth element in the vampire world."

Spirit.

Rose has never heard of a fifth element named spirit. But she believes him because he's telling the truth.

"I helped you. A thank you would suffice." He says, and then she looks into his silver eyes. The same eyes of the man who killed her parents.

She stops thinking about that night, and she helps the vampire up.

"Ah, thank you," he says, smiling like she didn't just pin him down and accuse him of witchcraft. The vampire gives her a side eye.

"But you, you are a hybrid," he says, his smile still intact. "A werewolf, witch hybrid. I thought that was just a myth."

Rose rolls her eyes and sighs.

"But I'm not judging. I think it's badass, you're badass," he says and Rose looks at him in shock. She tries to hide her shock, but it doesn't work. She's never heard anyone call her a badass for being a hybrid before.

"My name's Daniel Ivanov," he says ecstatically, stretching out his hand for a handshake. The vampire helped her; the least she could do was tell him her name.

"I'm Rose. Rose Lockwood." She doesn't shake his hand. And Daniel retrieves it.

"Wow, a beautiful name for such a beautiful girl," he says, and Rose stares at him for a long time. She has always heard boys call her beautiful, but hearing this vampire say it just stirs something inside of her.

He is handsome after all. His light blond hair is all gelled up, a Draco Malfoy look, his eyes are silver and they're so sparkly maybe because he likes to smile, his pink lips are heavy on the lower side, he has a sharp jaw that can cut a wendigo, and he has a slim build.

He's wearing a white shirt with dark pants and shoes.

His teeth are normal, but they won't last when he wants to eat, meaning, drink blood.

But overall, he is an attractive vampire. Rose can hate vampires and still acknowledge that moroi vampires are attractive.

She's never seen a moroi before. They don't usually live on this side of America; they live in cold, cloudy areas. But most of all, Morois live in Europe, that's where Daniel's from.

The two stare at each other for a long period of time. They can't seem to look away; they've forgotten they're standing with dead wendigos.

That's until Daniel clears his throat and looks at the golden watch around his left wrist.

"Boolocks," he mutters. "I've got to go, my little rose."

Rose gives him a murderous look. "Your what?"

"I…" he fills up the space between them, inching closer. "Hope we see each other again." Then he does something Rose never thought he'd do. He plants a soft kiss on her cheek and then uses his super speed to vanish from there.

Rose stands there frozen placing her hand on her right cheek. No boy has ever done that. The only men who have done that are her dad, uncle and cousin.

Rose snaps out of it when she feels a sting on her right arm. She winces, then takes her leather jacket off. She sees a pentagram forming on her arm, which is followed by the head of a wolf.

She has gotten her mark.

Which means she passed her test. "Yes!" She lifts her fist in the air, and she giggles.

She knew she could do it.

But then she really hopes she never sees Daniel Ivanov ever again.
