Chapter 38 - Mythic Quest

This was the follow-up plot triggered by Nethalos's final words before leaving. The activation condition for the Level 2 main city mentioned in the system notification was closely linked to this invitation letter.

Kalis opened his quest log, and sure enough, a brand-new quest icon had appeared. This was also the first Mythic quest he'd accepted since the server launched!

[Mythic Quest: Subdue the Four Fallen Wraiths]

Quest Background: Three thousand years ago, the War God Caron fell, and the War God Temple fell into chaos. Among the Ten Great Generals and Four Bishops, four powerful figures died while pursuing abyssal monsters. Their remains were corrupted by demonic energy, transforming into immortal wraiths with their souls eternally confined.

Quest Requirement: Defeat the three remaining wraiths scattered across the Solaria Continent and free their confined souls.

Current Progress: 1/4 (Subdued: Wraith General-Nethalos)

Targets to Choose From: Wraith General-Mordecai the Cursed Blade, Wraith Bishop-Ignis of Smoldering Ashes, Wraith Bishop-Kaelthas of Crimson Tides.

Quest Time Limit: 30 days (in-game time)

Quest Reward: Unknown (Mythic tier or higher)

"There's not even a quest guide… I have no idea where these three BOSSes are hiding on the continent. It's completely impossible to start." Kalis frowned as he looked at the quest panel.

But he also knew that Mythic quests would never be easy to complete. However, if he succeeded, the rewards would undoubtedly be extremely generous!

Putting away the quest panel, Kalis's gaze fell on the remaining two red-glowing Mythic items:

[Wraith War Spear]

Rarity: Mythic

Level Requirement: 100

Class Restriction: Knight, Warrior

Basic Stats: Physical Attack +820, Strength +55, Constitution +105

Passive Effect [Bloodthirst]: Deals 12% lifesteal on attack

Passive Effect [Parry]: Blocks 75% of physical damage when parrying with the weapon

Active Skill [Berserker's Anthem]: Upon activation, gain 18% damage reduction and 28% damage boost for 300 seconds. Can be used once per day.

Note: Divine Artifact Trait — Never wears out, immune to corrosion and breakage

...

[Heroic Spirit Holy Ring]

Rarity: Mythic

Level Requirement: None (stats unlock with level)

Class Restriction: None

Unlockable Stats:

Level 10: All Attributes +12

Level 50: All Attributes +22 (Currently Activated)

Level 100: All Attributes +32

Level 150: All Attributes +42

Level 200: Unlocks Passive [Holy Aura] — Additional 12% Physical/Magical Attack

Note: Imbued with the residual divine power of heroic spirits. Growable Divine Artifact.

"These stats… they're absolutely ridiculous!" Kalis's eyes lit up instantly.

The Wraith War Spear was powerful, but it wasn't usable by mages. Additionally, the Level 100 requirement meant he couldn't use it for now, so he could only store it in his warehouse.

However, the growth potential of the Heroic Spirit Holy Ring was enough to drive any class crazy. When fully unlocked, it would provide 108 additional points to all attributes, equivalent to 540 free attribute points. It was simply overpowered!

Even at his current Level 58, with only the first two stat tiers activated (All Attributes +34), it granted him 920 HP, 238 Mana, 40.8 Spell Attack, and a 5% Critical Strike Chance boost.

"With this ring on and the Celestial Staff from my warehouse equipped, my damage output and shield strength will reach a whole new level." Kalis couldn't wait to slip the holy ring onto his finger. A cool metallic touch spread across his skin, and a faint golden aura instantly swirled around him.

He even began to imagine: after completing the Second Awakening and unlocking new skills, maybe he could really try challenging a temple? But then he thought—each temple was home to at least four Mythic BOSSes above Level 200.

"I should calm down first… I'll wait until my skill damage exceeds 25 million." Kalis suppressed his impulse and glanced at his deep crimson name. Returning to the main city now would be equivalent to challenging an entire city's guards alone.

Not only would he be unable to retrieve the Celestial Staff from his warehouse, but he'd also be hunted as a public enemy by the city defense army.

Kalis continued to bend down and collect the remaining loot on the ground. After stowing the four red Mythic items, there were still eight orange-glowing Legendary items scattered around. Four of them were Level 100 Legendary gear, which were useless to him at Level 58; he could only store them in his warehouse for now.

Among the remaining four Legendary items, the first was a Knight-exclusive item with no level restriction: Holy Spirit Round Shield. Its attack power was negligible, but it provided +55 Constitution and +220 Physical Defense. Even for high-level Knights, it was an excellent defensive item.

The other three were functional items:

[Legendary Wraith Summoning Scroll]: Upon use, summons one Level 80 Epic Boss Wraith Warrior to assist in combat. The Wraith Warrior has 750,000 HP and 1,600 Physical Attack, no active skills. Lasts 600 seconds. Cooldown: 24 hours.

[Legendary Holy Light Redemption Potion +4]: Can be used on any target to purify demonic energy within them. Exclusive item for the Subdue the Four Fallen Wraiths quest. Non-tradable.

[Legendary Divine Power Essence]: Core energy essence of the War God Temple's guardians. Holding this item allows entry to the Divine Realm without being repelled by its holy power.

Kalis immediately saw the key points: the Holy Light Redemption Potions were essential for the subsequent quest. With only three remaining wraith BOSSes to challenge, he only needed three potions.

The extra one might come in handy for special scenarios in future plot developments. Meanwhile, the Divine Power Essence corresponded to the Abyssal Core Shard he'd obtained earlier, serving as access tokens for the two special regions, the Divine Realm and the Abyssal Realm. He stowed all these items in his inventory one by one.

Next were over a dozen purple-glowing Epic items and skill books. His inventory was already filled with gear dropped by Shadow Claw members.

To make room for these high-quality items, he had to reluctantly discard a batch of lower-stat blue gear. These Epic items also required Level 100 to unlock, so they could only be stockpiled alongside the Legendary items.

However, among the skill books were a few good ones that would be perfect for Eira, Lenore, and the others.

After cleaning up all the loot, Kalis finally had time to plan his next steps. His top priority was to clear his crimson name. He opened his character panel to check his Sin Points: 47,000.

"Indulging in a moment of satisfaction, now the road to clearing my red name is endless." Kalis sighed in frustration.

The maximum Sin Points in the game was 5,000, and his current count was far beyond that.

Sigh~ If I'd known, I wouldn't have gone on such a killing spree.

Sin Points decreased by 10 automatically every minute online. Just idling would take a full 800 hours. However, killing high-level monsters or BOSSes could speed up the process. Defeating Nethalos had directly reduced his Sin Points by 3,500—an impressive effect.

The monsters in Godfall Basin were generally above Level 100, making them highly efficient for clearing Sin Points. It was the perfect place for him to grind levels while洗白 his name.

Kalis climbed out of the crater and began hunting monsters on the charred obsidian ground. The monsters spawning around him were like fragile paper to him:

[Wraith Archer]: Level 102, HP 30,500/30,500, Physical Attack 1,050

[Wraith Knight]: Level 112, HP 39,500/39,500, Physical Attack 1,280

[Wraith Mage]: Level 107, HP 31,000/31,000, Spell Attack 1,120

Although these monsters' attack power was much higher than that of top players currently, dealing 800-1,100 damage to his Crystal Barricade, they posed no threat at all against Kalis's seamlessly refreshed shield.

"Ding~ You defeated Wraith Archer. Gained 1,680 experience. Sin Points -20."

"Ding~ You defeated Wraith Knight. Gained 2,050 experience. Sin Points -30."

"Ding~ You defeated Wraith Mage. Gained 1,820 experience. Sin Points -20."

System notifications kept popping up, but Kalis didn't bother to look closely. He just kept clearing monsters relentlessly. Whenever Stellar Wind and Meteor Shower finished their cooldowns, he used them to clear large groups. The dark land was covered with traces of his bombardment. During skill cooldowns, he used Lightning Bolt and Magic Missile to finish off low-HP targets—efficiency was extremely high.

Godfall Basin was completely empty now, with only him around. The monster density was abundant. Even the occasional elite monster or mini-BOSS was one-shot by him without him even bothering to cast proper skills.

Ten minutes, twenty minutes, thirty minutes…

The time spent clearing his red name was long and tedious.

During this boring process, Kalis idly opened the server-wide leaderboards to check the latest level rankings:
