Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Bardock Pays a Visit — Of Course It’s Bulma!

Vitli stood motionless atop a lonely, towering peak. The setting sun spilled like molten gold across the jagged mountains of the Destroyer Realm. He had changed back into his old black battle suit; under the sun, the fabric was washed in a warm orange glow.

He watched that massive orange star sink slowly beyond the far horizon, dyeing the whole sky a magnificent crimson.

But night in the Destroyer Realm did not arrive as it should have.

Just as the edge of the heavens was about to be swallowed by the deep black of space, a second star rose in the east—a younger, more vigorous white sun. Its cool yet blazing light filled the sky's vacancy in time, keeping the world bathed in an everlasting brightness.

Only the hue and warmth of that light changed quietly, without anyone noticing.

Vitli's gaze followed the white star. A faint silver sheen gathered in his deep eyes with its ascent.

He raised both hands and pressed his palms together before his chest, focusing intently on the power surging within his body.

After a short moment, his joined hands began to separate—so slowly it looked as though he were parting a mountain. As his palms drew apart, a dark-violet spark suddenly formed in the void between them, radiating heat and annihilation.

At first it was no larger than a grain of rice, yet the terrifying fluctuations contained within were enough to make one's heart seize.

As the distance between his hands widened, the dark-violet mass swelled violently.

Fine beads of sweat appeared at Vitli's temple. Controlling this destructive energy still placed a burden on his body.

But then a silver flash lit his eyes. Instead of tossing the energy outward like Beerus would, he barked, "Not enough!"

He began forcibly injecting the signature trait of his own technique—White-Hot Flash, an extreme of searing heat—into the already unstable sphere of destruction energy.

Instantly, the dark-violet core looked as if it had ignited, bursting with a blazing white radiance.

A temperature beyond description exploded outward. The surrounding space warped slightly.

Dark violet and blinding white—two utterly different energies—clashed and fused in a violent struggle, hissing like red-hot metal plunged into water. The sphere teetered on the verge of losing control and detonating.

Vitli clenched his teeth. The powerful divine aura within him—still not abundant—poured out without reservation, suppressing and guiding the two ferocious forces by sheer will.

He controlled with surgical precision, mind locked in total concentration. In his hands, the half-merged energies danced on a knife's edge.

Finally, with a muffled, restrained boom, the sphere stabilized again.

It was no longer pure dark violet. Its core and surface flowed with threads of incandescent white, emitting a horrifying presence that promised both total destruction and all-consuming incineration.

Vitli let out a long breath and looked down at the newly fused energy in his hands. A tired yet deeply satisfied smile tugged at his lips.

"Finally… it worked. Let's call it… 'Destruction Flash.' Huh. That name feels weirdly familiar…"

Seventeen days and nights of nonstop insight and trial had brought him here. He had fully grasped the essence of Destruction divine power, then—through sheer control and a wild idea—merged it with his own specialty.

He had created an ultimate technique uniquely his, unlike anything that existed before.

Maybe it was subconscious influence from memories of his past life. Maybe it was a habit forged under the brutal skies of Planet Vegeta. Either way, he had a deep-rooted fear of insufficient firepower. Pure Destruction never felt like enough. Only when he layered on his most trusted extreme heat did he feel secure.

A gentle voice—warm, with a trace of admiration—came from behind him.

"So you actually succeeded, Vitli-san. Fusing two completely different supreme powers… That level of audacity and control is impressive."

Whis had appeared without a sound, smiling as always, though his violet eyes held genuine surprise and praise.

Vitli didn't turn. He kept watching the fading Destruction Flash and the white sun now ruling the sky.

Minutes passed. Only after his breath fully steadied did he look back at Whis, calm as he asked:

"I've basically mastered Destruction now. About those 'trash planets' you mentioned earlier—when do you think we should head out?"

He went straight to business. If he had taken on a Destroyer's power, he wouldn't dodge a Destroyer's work.

Whis' grin grew more playful.

"Oh? I'm surprised, Vitli-san. Who would've thought you'd become so diligent and reliable? Half a month ago you were disgusted by the very idea of being a 'Destroyer,' weren't you~? If Beerus-sama trained and worked the way you do, Universe Seven's ranking would've been soaring ages ago."

He even sighed theatrically, as if burdened by his master's laziness.

Vitli didn't bother replying. Stone-faced, he turned and started down the mountain toward the house Bulma had built.

Whis followed easily, chattering away about recent events.

"Bulma-san hasn't been idle these past ten days while you were in seclusion. Your little girlfriend is truly a genius in science. Her mobile laboratory is already fully set up—astonishing efficiency. I heard her next plan is to carve out a section of the Destroyer Realm and try growing Earth-specific crops here."

Vitli halted, startled.

"Planting here? With the Destroyer Realm's soil and this planet's absurd environment… would that even work?"

Whis chuckled.

"And that's not all. She's also planning to design an unmanned spaceship. The idea is to ship over embryos of hardy, good-tasting livestock from Earth and attempt large-scale artificial breeding right here in the Destroyer Realm."

"Breeding?!" Vitli was genuinely shocked. Raising cows and sheep in the Destroyer Realm?

The mental image was so wild he almost couldn't process it.

"Just the gravity alone would kill normal animals instantly—"

"Hohoho~" Whis covered his mouth, laughing.

"Bulma-san said she intends to build a massive 'anti-gravity ecological simulation chamber' to handle both planting and livestock adaptation. Such a creative idea."

Vitli was speechless. He could only shake his head in defeat.

His girlfriend was a gifted troublemaker—she wanted to drag high-tech agriculture and animal husbandry into the realm of gods…

And yet… imagining fresh Earth vegetables and barbecue on the Destroyer Realm someday made him… kind of excited?

By the time they spoke no more, they had arrived at Bulma's modern house, popped out from a capsule.

It looked bizarrely out of place amid the alien landscape, yet also strangely harmonious—like a surreal East-meets-West collage.

"Bulma! I'm back!" Vitli pushed open the door and called out.

But the person who stepped out wasn't the lively blue-haired girl he expected.

A tall, graceful woman stood in the doorway. Her skin was the same blue-green tone as Whis', and her long silver hair was tied into a sharp high ponytail, two strands falling along her face. She wore an outfit similar to Whis' style, but cut to flatter her figure, and she held an angelic staff in her hand.

Her beauty was cool and distant by nature. Her golden eyes, calm as still water, were assessing Vitli—and the faint curve of her lips carried a playful edge that chilled him for reasons he couldn't explain.

Vitli froze. His pupils contracted slightly.

No way… Why is the Angel of Universe Six—Vados—here?!

Whis stepped out behind him and greeted her with easy familiarity.

"You haven't gone home yet, Sister-dear."

Vados nodded in acknowledgement, her gaze never leaving Vitli.

"I heard Universe Seven has rarely produced an apprentice Destroyer. Lord Champa can't leave Universe Six for the moment, but he's very concerned, so he sent me to take a look."

The way she stressed concerned made it obvious Champa's curiosity and competitiveness outweighed anything else.

She took a step closer and scrutinized Vitli even more closely, from hair to toes. The look felt like it pierced through everything, leaving him like a specimen under a microscope. His skin crawled.

Only when he was about to speak did Vados finally withdraw that penetrating stare.

Her smile deepened slightly. In her eyes was something like… satisfaction?

"Mm. Condensed aura, solid foundation. In such a short time you've already grasped Destruction, and even innovated on it."

Her verdict was calm, but approving.

"You're far more reliable than a certain Destroyer who only eats and sleeps. You're quite good."

Vitli nodded rapidly, then managed a dry, "Thank you for the compliment, Miss Vados."

And almost like he was fleeing, he slipped past her and dashed inside.

Her presence and those eyes were just too much pressure.

Behind him, Whis laughed openly.

"Hehehe… Sister, it seems your 'inspection' gaze scared our apprentice Destroyer."

Vados' cool eyes snapped to Whis with faint displeasure.

"Whis, worry about yourself before others. I sense your aura has regressed slightly since last time. How long has it been since you trained seriously?"

Whis' smile stiffened as if he'd been caught by the tail. He immediately stopped teasing, scrambling for an excuse.

"Ah, well… you know… there are many duties to attend to in the universe…"

While talking, he also hurried inside to find Vitli and Bulma.

Vados looked at his harried back and sighed softly.

She decided then and there that she'd have to "pass by" Universe Seven more often to keep watch on this prodigiously talented yet increasingly lazy younger brother.

A good angel seedling couldn't be allowed to get assimilated by Beerus.

Vitli found Bulma in the second-floor workshop.

The room was piled high with instruments and blueprints. Bulma sat before a massive computer, fingers flying over the keyboard. The screen showed complex 3D structural diagrams and endless data streams. She was so focused she didn't even notice him enter.

"Miss me, Bulma?" he said softly with a grin.

Bulma jolted, then her face lit up with delight. Like a happy bird, she launched herself from the chair and into his arms.

"Honey! You finally finished training! Did it work?"

Vitli laughed, catching her solidly. He hugged her tight and kissed her cheeks and forehead several times until she complained sweetly, then he let her go.

He sat at her computer chair with her on his lap, and looked curiously at the weirdly shaped ship design on the screen.

"Yeah, it went great. What are you working on? Is this the unmanned cargo ship Whis mentioned?"

Bulma nodded excitedly. Her blue eyes glittered with intelligence and passion.

"I've basically solved the anti-gravity module. Now I'm tackling miniaturizing the hyperspace engine and improving the endurance of the energy core! Once that's done, I can establish a regular unmanned freight line from Earth to here! Then I can ship seeds, livestock embryos, and tons of tasty and useful things from Earth!"

She got more excited as she spoke, waving her hands as she explained:

"After that, I'll mass-grow vegetables and fruit in the anti-gravity eco-sim chamber, and raise stuff like cows, chickens—even fish! Then you won't have to eat crappy alien food or frozen Earth stock all the time. You'll be able to eat fresh Earth food whenever you want! So? Am I awesome or what?"

Vitli listened to her enthusiastic "Destroyer Realm redevelopment plan."

Seeing the confidence in her eyes—and the tenderness meant for him—filled his heart with a swelling pride and gratitude.

He hugged her hard again, burying his face in her clean-smelling blue hair. His voice came out muffled but earnest:

"Thank you… Bulma. Thank you for doing so much for me…"

How lucky was he, to meet a woman so beautiful and brilliant—and who would use that genius to warm both his stomach and his heart?

Bulma felt his emotion shift and hugged him back, her voice soft.

"Dummy. You're Bulma's man for life. Who else would I do this for?"

After a moment, she gently pushed him back and pointed at the screen.

"Okay, you go downstairs and eat first. The robots you brought should have dinner ready. I just need to finish the last parameter checks—then I'll come down."

Vitli pulled her hand, amused.

"Can't you do it after? Let's eat together."

"Be good~ It'll be really fast!" Bulma insisted, pushing him toward the door with a smile.

"Go go go. You trained for ages—you must be starving!"

He couldn't win against her. Laughing, he finally went downstairs.

As his footsteps faded on the staircase, Bulma's gentle smile instantly turned sly and pleased. Like a cat that had successfully stolen a fish, she gave a tiny triumphant fist pump, whispering to the air:

"Hmph. Training-obsessed dummy Vitli… now you'll be even more hooked on me, right? Hehe. Easy win—little Vitli, totally in the bag!"

She snickered to herself, then sat back down, humming happily as she returned to her interstellar logistics empire.

For her, making the person she loved live better was the ultimate research problem worth everything.
