Chapter 72 - Is She Scolding Me?

Most of the students at St. Freya Academy were orphans whose families had been destroyed by the Honkai. Growing up, living, and studying here, their childhood experiences had fostered strong characters, while the academy's excellent environment and educational methods had endowed them with good qualities. Upon learning that the newly enrolled group were survivors of the recent Third Honkai Eruption, they smartly refrained from asking too many questions.

However, Evan's existence was very intriguing. He was the first male student to enroll since the establishment of St. Freya Academy. After all, this was a school for training Valkyries, and "Valkyrie," by name, was a profession unrelated to men.

"Student Evan, um... you are a boy, right?"

A few youthful and cute students took advantage of the time before class to gather around Evan curiously and ask, while others watched quietly from the side.

"Yes."

Hearing Evan's affirmative answer, the generous and somewhat extroverted girls let out small sounds of surprise, then continued to ask.

"Then—are you going to become a Valkyrie in the future?"

"It should be called a 'Male Valkyrie,' I suppose. Please take care of me from now on."

As students who transferred in the same batch, Evan and Kiana's group were naturally assigned seats together at the back of the classroom. While someone was asking Evan questions, others were naturally talking to Kiana and her friends.

"By the way, this semester is almost over. Exams will start tomorrow. Although it's happy that vacation is coming soon, is it okay for you guys, Kiana? Having exams right after transferring in."

The girls here were very considerate of others, but unfortunately, Kiana didn't appreciate it.

"Worried?"

The girl showed a face full of confidence.

"I'm a genius. With my talent, passing the exam is absolutely no problem."

Although she couldn't compare to Evan, Kiana didn't think she would lose to these students who had stayed in St. Freya Academy all along and hadn't truly fought the Honkai.

Evan, watching Kiana from the side, covered his face speechlessly.

If it were purely about combat, Kiana was indeed stronger than most people in this class. There was no doubt about that, after all, she was a girl who had fought alongside her father since childhood.

But since it was a final exam, surely it wouldn't just test combat abilities, right? Was this guy coaxed into stupidity by this group of caring people, forgetting what he had told her about theory classes earlier?

"Student Kiana, confidence is a good thing, but don't underestimate the Valkyrie exam. As the old saying goes, 'An arrogant army is bound to lose.'"

"It's Big Sister Fu Hua!"

"Big Sister is still so elegant and cool today!"

The one speaking words of caution to Kiana was a beautiful girl with gray hair and green eyes, wearing red-framed plano glasses, exuding an aura of erudition. She was the class monitor Himeko Murata had mentioned earlier—Fu Hua.

However, Evan, whose vision surpassed ordinary people, could see something hidden in her eyes through the lenses—a sharpness that only a qualified warrior would possess.

If the other students in the class were young birds living in a safe haven, then the Fu Hua before him was an eagle about to spread its wings and take flight.

In the eyes of Himeko Murata and Theresa, perhaps she was just that. But in the eyes of Evan, who knew some of the "girl's" past, Fu Hua wasn't about to take flight, but had been soaring in the sky for a long, long time, and was now resting on the ground.

"What was this guy saying just now?"

Various thoughts flashed through Evan's mind, while Kiana poked his arm and asked in a whisper.

It seemed Fu Hua's phrase "An arrogant army is bound to lose" was a bit too profound for Kiana.

Just as Evan was about to answer, Fu Hua, who also heard Kiana's whispered question, actively changed her wording as a further explanation.

"Although you have extraordinary talent, you must not be eager for quick success. Be careful that haste makes waste."

"Hmph, of course I know that."

Now Kiana seemed to understand. She responded with a confident face. Seeing this, Fu Hua nodded and turned her gaze to Evan.

"If you have any difficulties in your studies, you can come to find me. This is my duty as class monitor."

After saying this, Fu Hua turned and left, slightly dispersing the onlookers to avoid causing trouble for Evan and the others.

As the saying goes, the friendship between gentlemen is as pale as water; being too enthusiastic isn't a good thing either.

Watching Fu Hua walk away, Kiana turned her head and asked Evan with a puzzled face.

"Um, was she scolding me just now? Something about 'eager' and that 'waste' thing."

"It means don't be blindly confident and take the exam seriously."

Evan explained in a way Kiana could understand, crying and laughing at the same time, then continued.

"The exam is tomorrow. I just confirmed it. Because we are all newly transferred students, we don't need to participate in the assessment of Honkai-related knowledge exclusively taught at St. Freya Academy, but we still need to participate in combat and theory..."

"Combat? I'm best at combat or whatever, don't worry!"

Evan hadn't finished speaking when Kiana, thinking she had heard the most critical content, interrupted impatiently.

How many times have I reminded her before? Kiana hasn't listened even once, huh? It seems she must suffer a little to learn.

Evan didn't say anything more and sat back in his seat to prepare for class.

In fact, even if Kiana listened now, it would be too late. If the exam started tomorrow, Kiana couldn't possibly make much progress in such a short time.

Not long after, the instructor walked in, and a whisper arose in the classroom.

"Why is it her? Isn't it said that A-rank Valkyries are usually very busy?"

"But if it's Teacher Himeko, she will definitely teach us the most important Honkai knowledge, right? So looking forward to it."

The newcomer was Himeko Murata, wearing a teacher's uniform that revealed her mature and steady charm. Although she had said she had many things to handle and was very busy, she still came.
