Chapter 70 - Silence

Himeko Murata failed to find the information she had hoped for, but she made an unexpected discovery. She developed considerable curiosity about Anti-Entropy, though this curiosity ultimately paled in comparison to her worry for Evan.

Unfortunately, Himeko couldn't do anything meaningful about this worry right now. She could only take advantage of Evan's normal school attendance tomorrow, attending class as a teacher to observe his condition.

Logging out of the account and turning off the terminal, Himeko placed it back beside Theresa. Looking at the other's cute sleeping face, she couldn't help but smile bitterly.

Clearly a Valkyrie who was active long ago, my senior... what is with this ageless, youthful appearance? It's a little enviable.

Although she thought this, Himeko also roughly guessed that Theresa's existence itself was likely due to some unreplicable opportunity, not something achievable through maintenance techniques. She immediately stopped her wild thoughts, left the Principal's office quietly, and began to deal with various matters.

Time passed bit by bit. It was afternoon, approaching evening.

After a wonderful, super-long sleep, waking up to enjoy a delicious meal made by Raiden Mei, Kiana felt her life was complete. But she soon received bad news.

Evan, Raiden Mei, and Bronya would all officially enroll in St. Freya Academy tomorrow. She was the only one left.

If she nodded and agreed now, her cozy and comfortable salted-fish life would undoubtedly end. But if she shook her head and refused, a life without Evan and Raiden Mei wouldn't be nearly as cozy as before.

Kiana pondered with some annoyance, but gradually, other images came to mind.

Her wretched state when leading Raiden Mei to find a safe place in the Honkai-erupted Nagazora City. Even with the [Artemis' Guardian] dual pistols gifted by Aunt Theresa, she could only manage to escape. Encountering a single flying Honkai Beast required all her skills to destroy.

After meeting up with Evan, the sudden ambush by the super-giant Honkai Beast. Its size, ten times larger than the flying beast, proclaimed its power. With a single strike, it destroyed most of a sturdy skyscraper. Yet, such a Honkai Beast was destroyed by Raiden Mei or Evan.

Until now, Kiana still wasn't quite clear on what happened at the end because she had fainted shamefully—knocked out by Raiden Mei, who suddenly emitted a powerful aura.

Kiana certainly wouldn't blame Raiden Mei. she just felt ashamed. In the end, not only did she fail to help, but she also became a burden, not even qualified to be a spectator.

Even if I'm a salted fish, I can't be a salted fish that drags others down!

Kiana had her pride too. She quickly made a decision: go to class with everyone tomorrow and work hard to become a powerful Valkyrie. According to Himeko and Theresa, St. Freya Academy was a school for training Valkyries anyway.

As for now, naturally, it was time to visit Evan with Raiden Mei. Who knew how his injuries were recovering?

Arriving at Evan's residence and knocking on his door, Kiana looked him up and down. Doesn't feel like there's any change. From the outside, one couldn't see any injuries on him at all.

Just like before—even though Evan was practically covered in wounds, Kiana completely couldn't sense anything wrong with him.

Since she couldn't see with her eyes, she had to use some more direct methods.

Kiana leaned close to Evan and poked him carefully with her finger.

"Does it hurt?"

The white-haired girl's action made Evan raise an eyebrow. At their extremely close distance, Evan could occasionally feel Kiana's hair brushing against his face. That slight itch, enough to make one's heart flutter, made Evan even want to have some ambiguous interaction with Kiana. However, with Raiden Mei and Bronya also present, it was better to be upright.

"It doesn't hurt. Although according to the medical department, I still need to rest for a while to fully recover, personally, I feel I've already recovered. It's fine."

Kiana herself wasn't an obedient good girl. When she fought the Honkai with her father back then, although she hadn't suffered serious injuries under good protection, she had gotten sick. At that time, her father asked her to rest at home, but Kiana didn't comply. After her father left, she secretly ran out to fight zombies, wanting to share her father's burden.

But now, Kiana was playing the role of advising others to be obedient.

"Since the doctor told you to rest, just rest well. Don't worry, if someone tries to bully you when we go to school tomorrow, I'll definitely help you!"

These words didn't sound like something a girl would say to a boy. The scene should have been a bit strange, but when Kiana said it, it seemed cool.

So cool that Evan was dazed for a moment, then couldn't help reaching out to pinch Kiana's cheek, making her unable to maintain her cool appearance.

"I don't think I'll be bullied. As for you, don't perform too poorly, okay?"

"Don't worry, I am..."

Kiana wanted to say something to prove herself, bringing up the Kaslana name, but thinking of her previous terrible performance, she lost her original confidence. After imagining the daily life of a St. Freya Academy student a little, Kiana couldn't help but speak with some apprehension.

"Could it be that after becoming students, we have to fight those giant Honkai Beasts every day?"

It seemed Honkai Beasts' strength was distinguished by size. Kiana, who struggled a bit to eliminate a flying Honkai Beast less than ten meters long, didn't think she could deal with a giant Honkai Beast—at least not now.

These words made Evan laugh dumbly.

"How is that possible? I meant general knowledge classes. Although the goal is to train Valkyries, basic courses will be taught normally. If you add knowledge related to the Honkai, just the theory classes might be much harder than ordinary schools, you know?"

"Uh..."

Kiana fell silent.
