Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Vegetative Regeneration

The fire plant continued to attack towards the place where I was. There wasn't any alive plant around except me. It must have realised something was wrong from how this place had changed.

A fire ball came straight towards me and hit me. The heat was too strong for my bark to stand, but regeneration made it possible to stay alive.

The plant continued to attack, this time having located my location it switched to another ability.

I avoided the laser by a nick everytime is came.

The laser stopped for a while. Instead a ball of light began gathering in front of the plant. It grew big and bigger.

If that hit me I'd get injured very badly.

But the laser plant suddenly stopped its attack and the ball of light dispersed. Instead it began fighting with another plant.

What happened?

On closer look the laser plant's outer bark appeared damaged and it was slowly melting.

I needed to use this chance to put off the fire on top of me. But how do you put off a fire?

I can't, it's spreading all over me.

Wait.

Fire needs oxygen and as long as I can cut it off the fire will be put out.

My vines dug into the earth and when it submerged it disappeared. I quickly buried myself inside the soil and the fire disappeared.

Haa

Finally

The laser plant was still fighting with the other plant. It sent a few fire balls in my direction, but I was already hidden underground. With that the laser plant seemed to have given up thinking that when it was distracted some other plant swooped in and stole its kill.

I sat inside the earth for a while.

Soon the fighting stopped and the cave became quiet once again. I creeped out of the soil for a bit to check how many were left. Only 15 or so remained and there were 39 of us when we first started.

The white figure didn't say exactly what will happen if there are more than one of us alive by the deadline. In the best case scenario nothing would happen while in the worst case the white figure would kill all of us.

Sigh

Why does she want us to fight? What is she trying to gain from this?

The last one surviving would be the strongest and would have gathered everyone's abilities. What she wants could be anything.

It's better to focus on my current survival.

Tomorrow, when the fourth day is announced, I'll get my revenge. Using this peace I'll prepare and get ready to attack.

—-------

"The fourth day has come."

The plants surged into another wave of attack.

It was my time to move. I had ample time to prepare, so right now…

The laser plant suddenly bent its body and it snapped and fell limply to the floor.

""Would you like to inherit the Radiance's characteristics? **** interferes. Will proceed with absorbing the fire, light, and water magic characteristics."

Nice, but that was just the beginning.

Burying myself gave an idea. I could grow my vines inside the earth so that it can reach the others in the room. So I've already prepared my vines ready to crush them when the day is announced.

It took a lot of time to grow my vines long enough to reach the magical plants. I've only prepared a sneak attack on 2 others.

The voice announced the abilities I got after those two were killed. I got wind, rot, and shapeshift.

I moved the vines under the earth to attack the plants that were focused on their fights. Two more were killed. Now only 10 remained.

But just as I had locked onto my next target, a bonsai tree, I realised I couldn't move. My vines were stuck in place. The ground compressed inward, squeezing my vines flat, pinning them in place. I felt the vines I'd stretched snap.

The tips of my vines went dead.

I gave up pulling my vine out and quickly unearthed myself. Right as I finished and relaxed the earth shifted again.

An earth spike tore up from the ground and lifted my body upward. I tried to move away but from vines and roots, various plant parts began grasping onto my body refusing me to go anywhere. They were the normal plants I'd killed earlier. They were supposed to be dead but how?

That's when I felt someone's eyes on me and turned to see the bonsai.

Before the bonsai tree appeared a ball of red and black and came flying towards me.

A danger signal spread throughout my whole body. The moment it touched me, my body wouldn't be able to take it.

Right at that moment fast growth, fertility, and vegetative regeneration activated. Under their cooperation a flower began forming on one of my vines. I quickly absorbed all my mana into the vine and tore it from my body managing to throw it away moments before the attack hit. When the attack hit, my body began crumbing. Soon it disappeared without a trace.

But I was still alive inside the thorn away piece of vine. I didn't realise the effects of vegetative regeneration before when I first saw it, but now I finally realised just how useful it was.

The bonsai attacked me again.

But it was too late, the small flower had already bloomed, and wind magic had spread its spore throughout the cave.

The vine with the flower crumbled when the attack hit it, and my consciousness was transported inside one of the spores that had dispersed.

The plant still looked warily around. It was located where I was and sent another black and red ball at the spore I was in.

The spore disappeared, but I woke up again in another spore.

The plant gave up attacking anymore. The other plants had also stopped fighting. There were only 5 plants remaining now.
