After arguing for a while, Calen finally gave in and said, "Fine. It's not like I wanted to go that badly anyway! Staying at the settlement is nice enough too!"
In truth, Calen wanted to go with them too. However, since he didn't want to admit that Zeir was right, he chose to act as if staying behind had been his idea from the beginning.
"Staying here is also important," Roxanna said at last. She reached for Calen's hand and held it in hers. "You're the key to making sure Luan doesn't suspect what we're going to do."
Whenever Zeir or the other husbands tried to explain something to Calen, he usually refused to listen or immediately started arguing with them.
But when it was Roxanna telling him to do something, his mind and body immediately listened to her carefully.
"Really?" His dog ears perked up, and his tail started wagging quickly from side to side. "I'm that important?"
