Chapter 151 - Identity Exposed, Bio-monsters

Raymond stared at the screen in front of him with fascination, constantly exclaiming in amazement.

"What a perfect weapon, what an outstanding invention. Something like this is enough to put us at the top of the world!"

The assistant standing behind him echoed in agreement. Having completely tied himself to Raymond, he had finally transformed into the person they wanted, a devil in human skin.

The two didn't immerse themselves in this obsessive emotion for too long, and soon Raymond asked other questions.

"How are things going?"

"The city's defense line has been raised, and all the fleeing citizens are trapped within the defense line. We have cut off all signals, and no one will know what's happening here in the short term. But I'm worried that this situation won't last long!" The assistant looked worried; blocking the escape of tens of thousands of people was a bit too difficult for him, especially when the consequences were so serious that they were unimaginable.

"Use firepower to drive these citizens back into the city, and don't care about casualties. The board of directors has decided to use the backup they have in the military. Tomorrow at dawn, a Nuclear Bomb will fall here. All the evidence will be completely destroyed. Now, you go. The matter of the city defense line is left to you. Remember my words, think clearly about which is more important, yourself or others."

Raymond spoke nonchalantly, but his assistant was trembling with fear. The news of the Nuclear Bomb had completely frightened him, and he had even begun to regret his choice.

However, regret was useless, Raymond knew this very well, so he wasn't worried at all that his subordinate would betray him. Letting his subordinate stagger away from him, Raymond turned his attention back to the screen.

"Let me see what other surprises you have for me!"

In the screen, the woman who escaped from Umbrella was sneaking through a supermarket.

Unlike her initial miserable state, she had changed into a new set of clothes. And there was no sign of injury at all, except for a little blood on her elbows, only smooth, new-looking skin. You couldn't imagine that half a day ago, a broken bone had pierced directly through her arm.

Almost like a mutant's regenerative ability, this was one of the results of Umbrella's experiments on her. And all she needed was some high-calorie food. There was no shortage of that here in the supermarket.

But this wasn't what the woman wanted. She would rather still be the Alice Jovovich she used to be, a human. Not the way she was now, a monster that could mutate at any moment.

She was still wallowing in self-pity when a faint sound came from behind her. A slight chuckle and the sound of stumbling footsteps reached her ears, immediately causing her to abandon such boring daydreams. She was no stranger to Zombies, and because of this, her heart was even more tormented.

She touched the short knife at her waist, the cold steel blade bringing her an inexplicable violence and courage. She quietly groped along the shelves. When she saw a Zombie that had just emerged from behind the shelves, the blade had already beheaded the Zombie before her eyes even saw it. Because of the virus's modification, her body's subconscious actions had already exceeded her self-awareness's control. Instinctive reactions had made her a top-notch warrior.

This was the perfect weapon according to Umbrella's standards, yet it was also the thing Alice hated the most. After she cleared out the zombies here, she had found a new goal for herself.

"Umbrella!" Muttering the name, she walked out the door. She hopped onto a motorcycle that had been left on the street and sped towards the outskirts of the city.

She knew that with her current strength, she might not be able to pose any threat to Umbrella, but as long as she could leave this godforsaken place, she believed that there would definitely be people who shared her goal. Once hatred was accumulated, it often knew no end. Umbrella couldn't always have the upper hand; she firmly believed this.

Watching the perfect weapon in his mind wanting to escape the experimental field prepared for her, Raymond smiled frivolously and instructed the subordinates beside him.

"Prepare to deploy the Hunter. Let's see which of these two top-tier bio-weapons is stronger, more perfect!"

"Yes, sir. However, our informant within the U.B.C.S. sent a message that the second target, who has been missing, has already appeared, and he seems to be building a shelter to protect the survivors."

"Zhou Yi?" Raymond asked in confusion, snatching the intelligence report from the subordinate's hand. After just glancing at it, a ferocious arc appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"So, this is what you've been up to. No wonder I couldn't find you. As expected, everyone who reaches this level is a man-eater. Looks like you've been eyeing us too. But do you think you'll live to see tomorrow?"

"Deploy the Hunter T-103. Target the second target and that S.T.A.R.S. policewoman. Let's see how long they can play hide-and-seek with us!"

With his order, two aircraft equipped with special vehicles took off from the Umbrella headquarters and flew towards the chaotic city center.

Meanwhile, neither Alice nor Zhou Yi and Jill knew about Umbrella's plans for them. Alice was still on her way to the outskirts of the city, while Zhou Yi and the others were running towards the city center.

Building shelters, organizing the remaining combat personnel. Because Jill had foreseen the cause of this disaster, her words were now particularly effective. Especially for those police officers. This was also Zhou Yi's purpose in bringing her along.

The police chief of Umbrella couldn't be trusted anymore. The information in his hands showed he was on Umbrella's side. In this case, Jill, who had almost been expelled for exposing the truth, instead became the best heroic figure in their hearts. The kind that could be artificially created.

After securing another shelter, Jill collapsed beside Zhou Yi, exhausted.

"Why are you doing this?" She couldn't hold back her doubts any longer and asked Zhou Yi directly.

"What do you mean, why?" Zhou Yi said, keeping his hands on the steering wheel while sending the location of the shelter he'd just established to Coulson. He was clearly distracted by Jill's question.

"What exactly are you trying to do? Why are you trying to make me look like a hero? What's your hidden agenda?"

"Because you deserve it. That's all that matters."

"Damn it, don't think you can just wash yourself clean like that."

"I haven't thought about anything like that. You're overthinking it!" Zhou Yi replied calmly. Clearly, he didn't want to waste too much time on this matter.

Jill immediately wanted to retort, but she could only open her mouth, unsure of what to say. Everything Zhou Yi was doing now was a bit confusing to her, and sometimes she didn't even know how to evaluate him.

The chaotic thoughts combined with her exhaustion made her feel a little dizzy, and she was about to close her eyes to rest. But then, she suddenly felt the world spinning.

That wasn't her own feeling, but their car was actually rolling. A missile, from an unknown origin, had exploded in front of them. Zhou Yi barely dodged the missile, but the sideways car was caught by the debris on the ground and started rolling.

The violently rolling car would undoubtedly cause serious harm to its passengers. However, there were always exceptions. Jill, though dazed and seeing stars, with her vision blurred, surprisingly felt no pain. She only felt herself being dragged. When she regained her senses, she found herself and Zhou Yi safely outside the car.

"What happened?" She gritted her teeth, enduring the dizziness, and asked Zhou Yi. She was sure it wasn't Zhou Yi's doing; something must have happened to cause this situation.

"Be careful, someone's attacking us!" Zhou Yi had already seen the monsters approaching from all sides. Although he couldn't point them out directly to Jill, he could give her a slight hint. He believed that with Jill's combat skills, she would definitely sense the danger around them.

Hearing Zhou Yi's words, Jill instinctively reached for her gun. But when she saw the monsters emerging from all directions, she started to regret it.

These gigantic creatures looked like grotesque, skinned lizards, their bodies covered in bloodied, bulging muscles that were terrifying to look at. Their sharp teeth and long, toad-like tongues made them seem like poorly assembled products. They moved silently, quickly climbing up walls and floors like geckos, fully demonstrating the abilities of a Hunter. And their name was, indeed, Hunter.

"Damn it, Umbrella's disgusting bio-weapons!" Jill cursed under her breath. She looked at her police pistol. This small-caliber pistol was accurate and convenient, easy to deal with Zombies. But it was not enough to deal with such large biological weapons. She didn't even have the confidence to penetrate these monsters' muscles.

"We have to find a way to escape; we can't handle these monsters." She leaned against Zhou Yi, whispering beside him.

"I'm afraid it's too late to escape!" Zhou Yi pointed in front of them. A huge figure was slowly walking out of the ruins.

A black military overcoat emblazoned with the Umbrella logo concealed a powerful, massive frame. The grotesque face, with its obvious artificial divisions, was both strange and repulsive. However, the weapons it carried were even more terrifying than its hideous appearance. In its right hand, it held a massive Vulcan cannon, and on its back, it carried a shoulder-mounted missile launcher. The sheer intimidation factor of these weapons, completely unsuitable for a normal human, immediately stunned Jill.

She watched the terrifying humanoid weapon approaching step by step, grinding her teeth.

"Tyrant, damn Umbrella!"

Zhou Yi looked at the towering figure and silently placed the pistol from his waist into Jill's hand.

"Find a chance to escape on your own. I'll handle things here."

"What are you saying? Damn it, you can't get away!" Jill muttered, not believing Zhou Yi could survive against this bio-weapon.

Why would this crazy capitalist behave like this at this moment? What was going through his mind? Watching the man's calm, composed face, Jill felt a knot of confusion in her heart.
