Fortunately, Eli dodged it.
A chill ran down his spine.
Ryan said, "Don't be so cold. You're an affinity-type mental power user, and a commoner at that. Sooner or later, you'll have to rely on the nobility. Why don't you just join the Vale family? We've always treated talented people well."
Ryan's hand wandered restlessly across Eli's lower back.
Ryan had been born into a neglected branch of the Vale family.
He did not have any particular advantage in terms of talent, either, and he could not compare with the cousin who was currently rising rapidly through the family.
However, if he could offer Eli—a strikingly beautiful and approachable mental power user—to his uncle...
Eli's expression had turned completely cold.
That brainless man actually saw the anger in Eli's eyes and thought it was an invitation to provoke him further.
Although Ryan was a terrible sparring partner, Eli gradually became more proficient at deflecting his attacks as the practice continued.
