Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!"

"It's Sunagakure!"

"Sand Ninja forces have started a full assault!"

The previously quiet command camp erupted instantly into chaos.

Ninjas ran. Papers fell. The ground shook from distant explosions.

Tsunade's eyes narrowed.

Her fist slammed into the table like a hammer.

"Panic, my ass!"

Her killing intent blasted through the tent like a shockwave.

"Calm down! All of you!"

Her voice cracked like thunder.

"You heard me! MOVE WITH ORDER!"

Under Senju Tsunade's roar, the panic drained out of the room almost instantly.

She wasn't just a commander—she was one of the Legendary Sannin.

Her presence alone forced everyone back to sanity.

"Form up the units!" Tsunade barked.

"If Sunagakure wants to throw their lives away, then fine...we'll end this entire war right here!"

"Yes, Tsunade-sama!"

Orders were relayed.

Ninjas sprinted out of the tent toward the frontline in a coordinated rush.

"Shiki!"

Tsunade walked up to him—

and despite trying to hide it, worry filled her eyes.

The war had already begun.

There was no more talking, no more hesitation.

And Shiki had chosen the most dangerous job on the field:

facing the One-Tail Jinchūriki.

Even for Tsunade… that was terrifying.

Shiki smiled, calm as ever.

He reached out and gently held her hand.

"Don't worry."

His voice was soft, confident, steady.

"When this is over… can you give me another massage?"

Any other time, Tsunade would've blushed, yelled, or punched him.

But right now?

Her answer came immediately—quiet, soft, real.

"As long as you want… every day."

For a brief moment, Tsunade wasn't the Sannin.

She was just a woman terrified of losing someone important.

Women are easy to feel emotional and Tsunade was no exception.

Shiki didn't have to be here.

He didn't have to fight a tailed beast.

He didn't have to risk his life.

But he came anyway.

For her.

"I'll take down Chiyo quickly," Tsunade muttered, trying to sound confident.

"But you—"

"Believe in me," Shiki interrupted.

"You still don't trust my strength?"

He smiled helplessly, shaking his head.

"U-uh… Tsunade-sama?"

The three clan heads—Inoichi, Shikaku, and Chōza—returned after finishing the deployment orders.

But when they saw Tsunade still holding Shiki's hand…

Their expressions froze.

Then shifted between:

shock

confusion

"should we… leave?"

"are we interrupting something?"

"why is Senju Tsunade acting like a lovestruck girl??"

Tsunade realized it instantly.

"AHEM!"

She let go of Shiki's hand faster than Shikaku could say troublesome.

Her face twitched, as if she wanted to explode in rage but also die of embarrassment.

"Shikaku, when the Third Kazekage appears, stall him as long as you can!"

Tsunade instantly entered her commander role.

She didn't expect the Ino–Shika–Cho trio to defeat the Kazekage—dragging him out was enough.

"Leave it to us,"

Nara Shikaku, Yamanaka Inoichi, and Akimichi Chōza answered firmly.

Whether for Konoha, their clans, or their own pride...they absolutely could not afford to lose this battle.

"Let's move!"

Tsunade shouted and strode toward the battlefield.

Shiki rested one hand casually on his sword hilt, the wind brushing his cloak as he followed with a calm, unshakable expression.

Behind them, the Ino–Shika–Cho trio exchanged whispers.

"Shikaku… you think Tsunade-sama and Shiki-kun are really… together?"

"It doesn't look like a balanced match," Inoichi murmured.

"Tsunade-sama is a princess of the Senju clan… Shiki-kun is a civilian."

It wasn't meant to belittle Shiki—

it was simply the reality of Konoha's clan hierarchy.

But Shikaku only smirked slightly.

"Whether it's a match or not isn't for us to decide. And if Shiki truly accomplishes what I think he will…"

"Huh?"

Shikaku stopped walking and looked ahead, eyes serious.

"If he defeats the One-Tail…"

Inoichi and Chōza froze.

Then the realization hit them like a kunai to the head.

"…If he really beats Shukaku… no one in Konoha will dare gossip ever again."

That wasn't just a victory.

That was a legend.

He would instantly become a hero of the village...a man with enough merit to stand next to Tsunade openly.

"Still… can he really defeat the One-Tail?" Inoichi muttered, unsure.

Shikaku exhaled.

"I don't know why, but I have a feeling… Shiki is anything but ordinary."

Inoichi and Chōza exchanged glances, still unsure, but they didn't argue further.

"Enough chatter. Keep up!"

Tsunade's irritated voice cut through their whispering.

"Yes, Tsunade-sama!"

The trio immediately shut up and followed.

--

By the time Tsunade reached the front lines, Sunagakure forces had already begun their all-out assault.

No diplomacy.

No threats.

No declarations.

Just raw killing intent and explosions across the desert line.

The Third Kazekage stood at the center, iron sand swirling around him.

Chiyo's puppets clicked into formation.

And the One-Tail's Jinchūriki, Bunpuku, sat cross-legged in the back, waiting.

They weren't here to negotiate.

They came to end the war.

"These sand-brained idiots—are they completely insane?"

Tsunade roared.

"Konoha! ATTACK! Hit them HARD!"

"Yes, Tsunade-sama!!!"

Fire, wind, and earth jutsu exploded forward.

Sand ninja countered with puppets, iron sand, and deadly poisons.

The war had fully ignited.

The battlefield shook as thousands clashed, steel and chakra painting the desert sky.

---

The war between shinobi was brutal—always brutal.

Tsunade's eyes locked instantly onto the source of the carnage:

Chiyo, her fingers dancing with chakra threads as puppets tore into Konoha's ranks.

Without even announcing herself, Tsunade leapt forward.

"Go to hell, old hag!"

Heavenly Foot of Pain!

Her heel dropped like a meteor.

BOOOOM!

Sand erupted.

The shockwave sent the front line stumbling.

Chiyo's puppets froze for a brief second before snapping back under her control—retreating defensively.

Even she knew:

A puppeteer's body was fragile.

Tsunade was the worst possible matchup.

"Tch… what's this? Has Konoha run out of real ninja?"

Chiyo scoffed, cold and sharp.

"To send a little girl to fight me?"

Her tone was mocking, but her eyes were wary.

This woman's strength was unmistakable.

"Please," Tsunade spat back.

"You think you're special? Just me alone is enough to smash you into the ground!"

A puppet lunged silently from behind—

CRACK!

Tsunade smashed it with one casual backfist.

"Figures. Puppet-users are always sneaky cowards with cheap tricks."

"Young girl," Chiyo said calmly, unfazed,

"Running your mouth so much only guarantees an early death."

Chakra threads shimmered between her fingers, linking puppet to puppet—

a web tightening around Tsunade as Chiyo moved her hands.

"So you want to kill me?

Go ahead… try."

Tsunade slammed her fist together.

"You want a fight? I'll give you one!"

Monster Strength: Straight Punch!

Both women shot forward—

a collision of brute force versus lethal technique.

Meanwhile: The Kazekage battlefield

Elsewhere, Nara Shikaku, Yamanaka Inoichi, and Akimichi Chōza had already intercepted the Third Kazekage.

Iron sand spiraled threateningly around him.

The trio didn't flinch.

"Inoichi!" Shikaku called sharply.

"Right!"

"Mind Body Switch Technique!"

Chōza pumped his fists.

"Shikaku—combo ready!"

The battle of Konoha's finest tacticians versus the strongest Kazekage in history had begun.
