Chapter 7 - It's over

"Kael, why are you hiding from me? It's your last day," Elara said, her voice laced with a mixture of frustration and pleading as she rummaged through every corner of the house. "I just want one last massage, and then… nothing. Just… goodbye." Kael, acutely aware of the impending farewell, remained stubbornly concealed within the dusty attic, a silent observer of Elara's frantic search. The attic, a labyrinth of forgotten treasures and cobweb-draped furniture, offered him a sanctuary, a temporary escape from the bittersweet reality of their separation. Their bond, forged over the past six months, had been one of comfort and shared moments. Elara had grown accustomed to Kael's steady hands, skilled in easing her tension with a massage, and his strong arms, which effortlessly carried her around the sprawling estate. Now, with his departure looming, the thought of letting go felt agonizing, a heavy weight pressing down on them both.Kael suddenly felt something make contact with him, and to his disappointment, it was Elara. She pulled him from the attic and carried him to her room. Wrapping her arms around him, she hugged him tightly, and then, with a playful burst of affection, she gently threw him onto the bed. A cascade of laughter echoed through the room as Kael landed, the remnants of their bittersweet goodbye momentarily forgotten in this unexpected display of love and camaraderie.Elara's plea was a mix of longing and acceptance. "Just one more time," she whispered, her eyes reflecting a bittersweet understanding. "You're going back to San Diego, so I won't be able to see you for a while." The words hung in the air, heavy with the unspoken emotions of their impending separation, yet tinged with the warmth of their shared moments."You are 800 years older than me, have a bit of restraint, master. "Do I look that old to you, Kael?" Elara asked, a playful glint in her eyes as she settled back against the plush pillows. "No, but I'm only twenty-one," Kael mumbled, a soft blush creeping up his cheeks as he tried to regain his composure after their earlier lighthearted tussle. He couldn't help but smile, the playful banter easing the tension that had been simmering between them. The weight of their impending separation seemed to diminish with each shared laugh, replaced by the comforting warmth of their bond. "Okay then, just this once, then I leave."Elara smiled. Kael was the only being who had actually gotten through to her in a while, a rare connection in a world that often felt isolating. His presence brought a sense of normalcy and understanding, a comforting anchor in the midst of her turbulent emotions. The shared laughter and gentle moments had created a sanctuary, a place where she could be vulnerable and truly seen. With Kael, she felt understood, not just as a powerful entity, but as a human being with her own joys, sorrows, and aspirations. His ability to connect with her on a deeper level was a gift, a lifeline in a sea of indifference, making their goodbye all the more difficult. She undressed and lay on the bed waiting for Kaels skillful hands to give her some relief. Kael got to work, and with the help of his newfound abilities, he could see the points of her body that were stressed and the right amount of force to use. The massage was short-lived as Elara drifted in a state between unconscious and heaven. She felt like she was up in the sky. Kael pulled away from her and sat there, recalling the events of the past six months. He got to know that the place they were in was hidden from humans, so no one could see the place. He also found out that he was somewhat special, and that's why Lyra and Juliet had decided to turn him. He had to get strong, and to him, he hadn't even scratched the surface. After six months, he could go toe to toe with Elara when she used half her strength. This made him feel not strong enough. Elara had a sudden thought, "Should I tell my sister this kid can hold up against me? No, I'm too lazy for that; she'll find out the hard way. "Kael, someone's come to pick you up. You'll meet my sister, then go back to San Diego." Elara said while still resting in bed, "Goodbye for now, Kael, hope we meet soon. "Bye, master," Kael said as he walked out of the room. He swiftly made his way over the wall and landed right in front of a carriage. "My name is Clint from the house of Veyra. I was sent here to pick you. "I go by the name Kael. Let's get moving."Clint helped Kael get into the very luxurious carriage drawn by beasts that were akin to horses but were more powerful. The carriage was heavily guarded, and Kael was the only one inside; the rest rode horses. The pace of the horses was not much to Kaels' liking, thinking that it was a waste of time. He thought if he ran at full speed, he could arrive way earlier, but due to respect for his master's sister, he was patient. They soon arrived in a city, and the carriage with the crest of House Veyra drew a lot of attention. They travelled for a little while further until a secluded manor could be seen. Kael guessed this was Elara's sister's house. He made a graceful entry, and when the carriage stopped, he opened it to see Lyra and some other people he obviously didn't know standing there ready to welcome himLyra was flabbergasted. She couldn't believe the person in front of her was Kael. She thought, "He didn't just level up; he triggered an extinction-level event for every mediocre guy in a 50-mile radius. His prior self was a gentle, flickering candle, and his current self is a quasar. The change is quantifiable: he went from 360p resolution to fully rendered, 8K Ultra HD. His confidence isn't manufactured; it's the result of an impeccable internal operating system upgrade. His hair now falls in exactly the way gravity intended for maximum attractiveness, and his eye contact is registered as a mild, pleasurable electrical shock. People aren't checking him out; they are performing a mandatory visual inspection of pure, unadulterated aesthetic triumph."
