Chapter 17 - Despairing Ogiya Junpei

Junpei Ogiya has completely lost his mind and is dominated by his own bloodlust.

However, Ogiya Junpei was just an ordinary demon who only knew how to use brute force to swing his hands and attack Mitsuko.

Unlike the previous Ōku mushi, which gained special power by devouring a large number of people, it did not.

Mitsuko easily dodged all of Ogiya Junpei's attacks.

While dodging, Mitsuko was thinking about how to control Ogiya Junpei.

Suddenly, Mitsuko noticed a Y-shaped tree not far away and had an idea.

Mitsuko fought and retreated, turning her back to the Y-shaped trees, and led Ogiya Junpei to the side of the trees.

Junpei Ogiya suddenly pounced on him.

Mitsuko dodged to the left, and Ogiya Junpei was trapped in the corner of the Y-shaped tree.

When Junpei Ogiya tried to break free, Mitsuko manipulated his blood to transform into a rope, binding and restraining him.

Junpei Ogiya let out a furious roar like a wild beast, howling at Mitsuko incessantly.

Mitsuko sat cross-legged on the ground, placed the Nichirin Blade on her lap, and ignored Ogiya Junpei's roar, waiting there.

An hour later, the red glow in Ogiya Junpei's pupils gradually faded, and he regained his senses once again.

Seeing himself bound by ropes made of blood, Ogiya Junpei suddenly burst into tears, struggling frantically and cursing at Mitsuko through gritted teeth:

"You beasts! Why did you turn me into this grotesque mess! Why?!"

Mitsuko was stunned for a moment before realizing that Ogiya Junpei had mistaken him for the comrade who had turned him into a demon.

"Ogiya Junpei, calm down, I'm not a demon."

Ogiya Junpei seemed to believe Mitsuko's words, gave up struggling, and gradually calmed down.

Mitsuko saw that Ogiya Junpei had calmed down and loosened the rope made of blood.

Junpei Ogiya regained his freedom and collapsed to the ground.

"My name is Katō Mitsuko, you can call me Mitsuko." Mitsuko stepped forward and stretched out her right hand, trying to help Junpei Ogiya up from the ground.

Junpei Ogiya suddenly flung away Mitsuko's outstretched right hand, then swiftly pulled the Nichirin Blade from Mitsuko's hand and stabbed it into Mitsuko's abdomen.

Junpei Ogiya's expression was ferocious, filled with deep hatred: "You can't fool me! The man who turned me into this has the same eyes as you!"

Mitsuko did not dodge, allowing Ogiya Junpei to plunge his Nichirin Blade into his abdomen, and blood immediately flowed continuously from the wound onto the ground.

Ignoring the Nichirin Blade piercing his abdomen, Mitsuko embraced Ogiya Junpei, whispering sorrowfully in his ear:

"I understand how you feel because I've had a similar experience. I hate myself too, wondering why I've become like this, unable to see the sunlight, forced to survive in dark corners, craving blood like a monster, helplessly watching my loved ones die before my eyes, believing myself to be human, yet it seems humanity can no longer accept us…"

Junpei Ogiya leaned on Mitsuko's shoulder, sobbing uncontrollably.

"My family and I have never done anything wrong, so why did disaster have to befall me? All I wanted was to live a peaceful life with my family..."

Junpei Ogiya released his Nichirin Blade and knelt helplessly on the ground, tormented by the pain in his heart.

Mitsuko pulled the Nichirin Blade from his abdomen, and the wound quickly healed on its own.

Mitsuko once again extended her hand to Ogiya Junpei: "Junpei, become my companion. Humans have no place for us, so let's find our own place."

Junpei Ogiya shook his head in anguish: "I killed my family who loved me most with my own hands. To satisfy my own desires, I ate so many people in the town. I don't deserve to live in this world. I should have died long ago, but I just can't die. I'm a rotten person, a rotten person beyond redemption!"

Moreover, my memory is gradually fading. I can no longer remember my family's faces. Before long, I will become a monster who only knows how to kill and eat people. Katō Mitsuko, I'm sorry for hurting you just now. Although it was unreasonable, I want to beg you to end my life!

Junpei Ogiya pressed his head to the ground, pleading with Mitsuko.

Mitsuko didn't answer Ogiya Junpei; she was thinking about how to solve Ogiya Junpei's current memory loss problem.

Even if Junpei Ogiya agrees to become his companion, his memories will gradually fade. Just as Junpei Ogiya himself said, it won't be long before he becomes a demon who only knows how to kill and eat people.

Perhaps if this problem is solved, Junpei Ogiya will rekindle his hope to live and become his companion.

Mitsuko doesn't want to give up on Ogiya Junpei.

For Mitsuko, the appearance of Junpei Ogiya was like a ray of light in the darkness.

If this light goes out, Mitsuko isn't sure if he can keep going.

Seeing that Mitsuko hadn't made a move for a long time, Ogiya Junpei understood that Mitsuko didn't want to kill him.

Ogiya Junpei had already resolved to die and had lost all will to live. Looking at the Nichirin Blade stuck in the ground beside Mitsuko, Ogiya Junpei muttered to himself:

"I wonder if I'll ever see you all again after I die? Probably not... After all, I committed an unforgivable sin, you certainly won't forgive me..."

While Mitsuko was deep in thought, Ogiya Junpei pulled out the Nichirin Blade stuck in the ground and plunged it into his own chest.

The scorching heat of the Nichirin Blade instantly swept over Ogiya Junpei's entire body.

The intense pain made Junpei Ogiya think he could finally die.

"It's no use. Such wounds can heal immediately for a demon's constitution."

Upon hearing Mitsuko's words, Ogiya Junpei collapsed to the ground in utter despair.

Junpei Ogiya also tried to die by exposing himself to sunlight.

However, the moment he comes into contact with sunlight, Junpei Ogiya loses his mind and instinctively hides in the shadows where the sun cannot reach.

"Junpei, I have an idea that might allow you to become a half-human, half-demon being like me. As a half-human, half-demon being, I haven't lost my memories, so maybe you can too."

A glimmer of hope rekindled in Junpei Ogiya's dejected eyes.

He didn't want to lose his memory; he wanted to remember his family's faces and the wonderful memories of living with them again.

This is the only thing Junpei Ogiya possesses. Now, all he has left are memories, and those beautiful memories are gradually disappearing.

Mitsuko recalled Muzan Kibutsuji from her memories, who injected his blood into humans, turning them into demons.

Mitsuko has the same eye color as Muzan Kibutsuji, and the same whip.

All signs indicate that Mitsuko and Muzan Kibutsuji have an extremely close connection.

Since Muzan Kibutsuji can inject his own blood to turn humans into demons...

Mitsuko guessed that his blood might be able to turn Ogiya Junpei into a half-human, half-demon being like himself.
