The sky over Kuoh Town shattered.
It wasn't a subtle entry. It looked like a nuclear test. A tear in the dimension opened up directly above Kuoh Academy, painting the clouds in colors that didn't exist on the visible spectrum.
Down below, two figures were in the middle of a negotiation in the Old School Building.
Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri both froze, sensing the pressure.
"What is that?" Sona adjusted her glasses, her hands trembling. "Fallen Angels?"
"No," Rias looked up, her eyes widening. "That energy... it feels like a Dragon. But it's... heavier."
BOOM.
Something crashed into the school's athletic field. The shockwave blew out every window in the building and set off every car alarm in a three-mile radius.
In the center of the smoking crater, Raiden Ragnvaldr lay curled in a fetal position.
The last of his "Genshin" shell fell away like dried clay. Beneath it, new scales formed - sleek, obsidian-black scales with veins of pulsating purple energy.
"System Complete."
"Evolution Successful."
"Race Changed: Dragon Lord → Heavenly Dragon (The Void Star)."
"Sacred Gear Mimicry: Active."
Raiden opened his eyes. They were reptilian, vertical slits of glowing violet.
He stood up. The air around him distorted, space bending just because of his mass. He was hungry. He hadn't eaten since he left Celestia (which was technically five minutes ago, but it felt like eons).
He looked at his hands. Unimaginable power flowed through them. He wasn't just an elemental user anymore. He was a calamity.
"Rias... Gremory..."
He could smell them. Devils. Delicious, high-grade magical energy.
He climbed out of the crater, naked as the day he was born (again), unbothered by the destruction he caused.
Rias and her peerage (Akeno, Kiba, Koneko) arrived at the edge of the crater, weapons drawn.
"Identify yourself!" Rias commanded, though her voice wavered slightly at the sheer density of his aura. "Are you a stray?"
Raiden looked at the crimson-haired devil.
System Analysis: Rias Gremory. Sister of Lucifer. Tasty.
He grinned, revealing teeth that were slightly too sharp.
"I," Raiden's voice echoed with a metallic, draconic reverb, "am the guy who just fell out of the sky because the last world was too small."
He took a step forward, and the gravity around him pinned Koneko to the ground.
"And I would very much like a meal. Unless you want me to eat the school."
