Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: Ultear's Past

Ultear had spent the last few days planning how to kill Anselion for good.

She thought it would take a long time to find a chance, but to her surprise, she quickly learned that Anselion had left the Magic Council.

Overjoyed, she immediately set out to track him down.

As Anselion and his group reached the edge of the royal capital, Ultear, who had been following them, could no longer hold back her killing intent.

Wrapped in a black robe that hid her figure and with a mask covering her face, she stepped onto the road in front of their magic vehicle.

As the vehicle slowly approached, Ultear raised her hand...

A silver-grey magic circle appeared in the air.

Its shimmering light gave off immense pressure, sending a clear and dangerous warning to Anselion and his men.

Anselion narrowed his eyes.

'Ultear... She got here fast. She must have been waiting for this.'

He sighed inwardly. He had been mentally prepared for her to make a move.

He glanced back and saw his soldiers were already panicking under the weight of Ultear's murderous magic power.

They had never felt power like this in their entire lives!

Facing such an overwhelming force, the courage of these so-called elite troops was shattered almost instantly.

Seeing his terrified subordinates, Anselion found it almost amusing.

If the world's peace truly depended on soldiers like these, it would have ended long ago.

He had to admit, many people in the Council had strong beliefs and determination.

But without real power, the Council could never truly be the top authority in the magical world...

Ultear's sharp gaze locked onto Anselion as immense power erupted from the magic circle.

She shouted, "Arc of Time: Wither!"

A powerful grey light shot from the circle like a meteor, heading straight for Anselion and his group.

Anselion's eyes widened.

'She's starting with her strongest move?!'

With no time to think, he quickly cast his own magic.

A black shadow rose from the ground like flowing water, wrapping around the vehicle and pulling it underground just as the grey flash shot past.

The effect was horrifying.

Every plant, flower, and tree the grey light touched instantly withered and died.

The very earth and stones it hit turned to dust.

It was as if anything it touched was sent forward into a future where it had been completely erased...

Nearby, Anselion pulled the soldiers he had protected out from the shadows.

Seeing the destruction, he couldn't help but mutter:

"Lost Magic is truly in a class of its own..."

The shaken troop leader pointed a trembling finger at Ultear.

"S-Sir... that person..."

Anselion waved his hand calmly. "I'll handle this. You all move ahead."

"But that magic—" the leader started urgently.

"It's fine," Anselion interrupted. "Your mission is to get the prisoner to the Council safely. Go on ahead; I'll catch up soon."

After a moment's hesitation, the troop leader finally nodded and led his unit away.

Once they were gone, Anselion turned to Ultear with a faint, amused smile.

"Miss Ultear, does this mean our deal is off?"

A fierce light flashed in Ultear's eyes.

"Who else knows my identity besides you?" she coldly demanded, not wanting to waste words.

Anselion shrugged. "Who knows?"

"Fine, have it your way!" Ultear's anger exploded. Another silver magic circle, this one like a spinning clock, appeared in her palm.

Gathering the strange magic power that could twist time itself, she charged at Anselion with overwhelming force!

Anselion's heart jumped.

He quickly focused, following his master's teachings to activate the special poison he had secretly planted inside Ultear's body...

Just as Ultear was about to reach him, a sharp, stabbing pain shot through her stomach!

This was no ordinary pain—it spread through her muscles along with her magic power.

The sudden, intense agony forced her to her knees.

Seeing it worked, Anselion secretly sighed in relief.

Ultear was incredibly powerful.

A direct fight would have been tough.

But if he used his main identity and power, dealing with her wouldn't be hard at all.

However, since she was from a Dark Guild, he had no intention of revealing who he truly was.

Brought down by this mysterious attack, Ultear was both shocked and furious.

Gritting her teeth against the pain, she cursed, "You bastard! What dirty trick did you use?!"

Anselion didn't answer.

Instead, he walked over to where she had collapsed and whispered.

"As Ur's daughter, you must be incredibly powerful. I'd rather not fight you directly."

'Ur... that name!'

Hearing it, Ultear found a burst of strength.

She pushed herself up, her hands clamping around Anselion's neck.

Her face was twisted with rage, her eyes bloodshot as she screamed:

"How do you know that woman's name?!"

"What's your relationship to her?!"

Pinned down, Anselion didn't resist.

He lay calmly on the ground, looking up at the furious Ultear straddling him.

He knew exactly why she was reacting this way.

Ultear's childhood had been a tragedy.

She was born with more magic power than her body could handle.

Her mother, Ur, worried for her safety, entrusted the young Ultear to a man named Brain from a research institute.

But Brain betrayed Ur's trust.

He lied, telling Ur her daughter had died, while he secretly kept Ultear and experimented on her magic power, setting her on a path of suffering.

Ultear grew up believing her mother never loved her and had heartlessly abandoned her to a life of terror and torture.

This hatred is what forged her into the powerful leader of the Grimoire Heart guild.

Thinking of this, Anselion sighed.

He gently moved Ultear's hands from his neck and said thoughtfully.

"Ultear, do you really believe your mother was abandoning you?"

With disheveled hair, Ultear recklessly tried to gather her magic power, screaming in grief and fury.

"What does it matter what I believe?! Do you think I wanted to believe it?!"

"If she didn't abandon me, then where was she when I was locked up and experimented on?! Why didn't she come to save me?!"

"WHY DID I HAVE TO SUFFER ALL OF THAT ALONE?!"

Anselion suddenly broke free from her grip, his expression turning stern as he shouted back.

"SHE NEVER ABANDONED YOU!"

"Yes, you hate your mother! But do you even know the real story of how you ended up in that research institute?!"

"Everything you think you know—is it really the truth?!"

This have a chance to be a harem and Erza might be in it, or only a single pairing with Mirajane but with Ultear as a side chick.
