Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – The Awakening of Legatia

Hikari's Point of ViewDuel: Hikari – 4000 LP | Boss – 4000 LP

Turn 1 — Boss

"Foolish girl…" the man spat, wearing a crooked smile and predator-sharp eyes. "You just made the worst decision of your life. I'm a Awakened duelist."

Miyako froze behind me, eyes wide in shock.

But I… simply smiled. A short, almost mocking smile, as if I were facing something trivial.

"Miyako, it's okay. I promised I'd protect you, remember?"

The Boss looked down at his hand like he already knew how the duel would end.

"Let's start the fun."

He drew a card, slamming it onto his Duel Disk. A flash of light erupted.

"I summon Battleguard Cadet, in Attack Position!"

Battleguard CadetWarrior / EARTH — Level 1 ATK: 50 / DEF: 100

A purple-skinned goblin burst into the arena, snarling as if calling something from the depths of hell. Its club looked far too large for its small frame.

"When he's summoned, I can add Feast of the Wild LV5 from my deck to my hand. And guess what? I'm activating it immediately!"

The spell flashed open, and two massive ogres leapt out, muscles bulging, each holding a crude iron club. Even with their effects negated, their presence felt violent.

"I Special Summon Lava Battleguard and Swamp Battleguard, both in Attack!"

Swamp BattleguardWarrior / EARTH — Level 5  1800 ATK / 1500 DEF

Lava BattleguardWarrior / EARTH — Level 5 1550 ATK / 1800 DEF

The ground trembled beneath their weight.

"And now I use the Cadet's effect. I tribute him… to summon my signature monster!"

His voice dripped with confidence, as if victory had already been declared.

"Come forth, wild king of hidden forests… crusher of giant trees… ruler of the savage lands! Battleguard King!"

A colossal red-skinned ogre materialized, wrapped in grotesque black armor. His club alone was the size of a car, radiating brutal force.

Battleguard KingWarrior / EARTH — Level 8 ATK: 3000 / DEF: 1100

Miyako leaned toward me, trembling.

"Hikari… he was telling the truth. He is an Awakened duelist. Only someone like that would have a custom archetype…"

But I didn't even flinch."It doesn't matter what he has. I'm not losing."

He placed a face-down card, smugness dripping from his smirk.

"I set one card and end my turn."

Turn 2 — Hikari [LP: 4000 vs 4000]

The card slid into my hand with a faint glow. I stared at it for a moment, eyes narrowing, smile widening—like I had just remembered a private joke.

"My turn. I draw."

I summoned with a swift gesture.

"I summon Mighty Guard, in Attack Position."

A small green cyborg clattered onto the field, parts mismatched, gears screeching. One arm was absurdly larger than the other. It looked less like a warrior and more like scrap metal walking.

Mighty GuardMachine / EARTH — Level 4 500 ATK / 1200 DEF(Normal Monster)

The Boss snorted.

"That's the best you've got? With five hundred attack? Hah! You'll need a thousand years to beat me, kid!"

I didn't blink.

"Relax, old man. I'm still playing."

I lifted another card.

"I activate Machine Duplication, targeting Mighty Guard."

A surge of blue energy flashed, and two identical scrap robots popped into existence. Three clunky, ugly machines now stood before him.

"Now I activate White Elephant's Gift, sacrificing one Mighty Guard to draw two cards."

The robot shattered into pixels. I drew two cards calmly.

"Next, I play Double Summon. This lets me Normal Summon again."

I pointed at the remaining robots.

"I tribute both Mighty Guards… to summon my main engine!"

The earth split. A massive yellow machine crashed down in a storm of lights and gears.

Slot MachineMachine / DARK — Level 7 ATK: 2000 / DEF: 2300(Normal Monster)

Its chest displayed a glowing slot panel with three spinning reels. Its arm was a cannon; the other held a chrome lever.

"Slot Machine, attack Battleguard King!"

The cannon charged. But before the blast fired, the Boss burst into laughter.

"After all that trouble… a Normal Monster with 2000 attack? Pathetic! Hahaha!"

"Mighty…!" Miyako gasped behind me.

I stayed firm.

"Relax, Miyako. I have a plan."

I slammed down a spell.

"If the wall in front of me is too high… I'll just push past my limits! I activate Limiter Removal!"

Slot Machine went berserk. Its reels hit 7-7-7. Gears roared. The cannon overloaded.

"Now it has 4000 attack!"

"Tch! As if that'll save you!" the Boss snapped, flipping his face-down. "I activate Waboku! No destruction, no damage!"

A blue barrier wrapped around his monsters, negating the hit with a violent crackle.

I gritted my teeth for half a second. Then I grinned again.

"I set two cards and end my turn."

Silence fell… until Slot Machine began sparking wildly.

BOOM!

The machine exploded into burning gears. That was the cost of exceeding your limits.

Turn 3 — Boss [LP: 4000 vs 4000]

"I draw."

He ripped the card as if tearing apart a corpse. His eyes burned with rage.

"I'm done listening to your little speeches! This… is your final turn!"

He lifted his card like a king showing off a blade.

"I activate Battleguard King's effect! By tributing my two monsters, he can attack once for each one sent to the Graveyard!"

"Three attacks. Three. Got it?!"

The field lit crimson. The ogres dissolved into flames. King roared, swollen with power.

"First smash—GO!"

" HIKARI! " Miyako screamed.

The club crashed down. Light swallowed me.

[Hikari: 1000 LP]

I stumbled. Dirt smeared my face—but I didn't fall.

"Hikari!" Miyako cried, voice breaking.

"And now… the second attack! I won't even need the third! Hahaha!"

The King charged again.

I slid my arm, flipping a card.

"Not so fast. I activate Scrap-Iron Scarecrow."

A rusty metal scarecrow blocked the hit, absorbing it before sinking back into the card.

"Pointless resistance!" he spat. "Final attack—Skull Crusher!"

The blow came faster, brutal enough to finish me.

"But I activate Defense Draw."

A barrier of cards materialized, negating the strike.

"This card prevents the damage… and lets me draw one card."

I drew calmly. Unshaken.

Miyako sobbed, barely breathing."Hikari…"

"So tell me… whose 'final turn' was it again?"

"Tch… Doesn't matter! You only have one face-down and one card in hand! You can't win!"

I looked at my new card.It wasn't the answer I needed.But I kept smiling—calm and stubborn.

"I set one card… and end my turn."

Miyako's Point of View

Hikari was exhausted. Anyone could see it—her stance, her breathing, her shaking hands.

And yet… she was smiling.

Just like she always did. Ever since we met, when I was six. Hikari would smile through fear, through bullying, through pain—just to calm me down.

Even though I grew taller and stronger, she still protected me like we were little kids holding hands against the world.

I remembered the day we made our promise. I was eight; she was seven. I cried because Grandma said duelists die, that dueling was dangerous. Hikari hugged me, ran her fingers through my hair, and said:

"If being a duelist is dangerous, then let's be duelists together. That way, we can face anything. Together we'll be invincible. We'll soar across the skies and become the greatest duelists in the world."

I smiled through tears back then.

And now… watching her fight like this—bleeding, smiling—I couldn't hold it in.

— Win, Hikari!

Hikari's Point of View

**Turn 4 — Hikari

[Hikari 1000 LP vs. Boss 4000 LP]**

Miyako's desperate scream still burned in my chest as I reached for my deck.I'm going to win, I thought. For both of us.But before my fingers could touch the next card, a white light burst before my eyes—soft, intense, and strangely comforting.

Three silhouettes emerged from that glow. Even though I had never seen them before, I knew who they were, as if they had always been waiting inside me.

Primera reached out to me, firm and fearless.Trudea stood further back, smiling with gentle confidence. And Emeth VI—still dormant—radiated a silent presence. He wasn't just there. He was watching. Guarding.

I touched Primera's outstretched hand.

A surge of power traveled through my body—not wild, but serene, like a melody in motion. The field exploded into white. I still stood on solid ground, yet something inside me had risen far above it.

Across the field, the boss's eyes widened in terror.

"No way… She awakened? Here? Now? But that… that's impossible! My light lasted only seconds—hers is still burning… endless!"

"I draw!" My voice echoed back at me, charged with something new.

The glow faded, but the change remained. I was different.Stronger.More alive.

"Hikari… awakened…" Miyako whispered, awe lighting up her eyes with pride.

"I Normal Summon Centur-Ion Primera!"

A golden beam tore open the field, and Primera descended like a blazing comet. She stood proud, clad in burgundy and silver armor, twin blond tails flowing behind her. Her banner-lance shimmered like a bolt of sunlight, and her metallic bunny-ear helmet crowned her like a knight born from courage itself. The spinning disk on her back glowed like a living tail, pulsing with resolve.

She wasn't just a card. She was a leader.

Centur-Ion Primera — Spellcaster / LIGHT / Tuner Level 4 | 1600 ATK / 1600 DEF

"I activate Primera's effect! When she's summoned, I add one 'Centur-Ion' card from my Deck to my hand. I choose—Stand Up, Centur-Ion!"

Primera raised her banner proudly, as if calling her army to stand. A card in my deck glimmered in response, and my hand was drawn to it as naturally as breathing. It had answered her call.

"I activate the Field Spell—Stand Up, Centur-Ion!"

Behind me, a massive, radiant version of Primera's banner unfurled like a declaration to the world: I stand. I will not fall.

"Not so fast, brat!" the boss snarled. "I activate my face-down! Mystical Space Typhoon! Say goodbye to your stupid flag!"

A violent tornado roared toward the banner—but before it struck, the banner itself glowed, releasing a protective aura. The wind broke apart like dust in sunlight.

The boss stumbled back, horrified.

"N-No way…! Why is that damn flag still standing?!"

"That banner represents our determination to keep fighting. As long as I control another 'Centur-Ion' card, Stand Up, Centur-Ion! cannot be destroyed!"

I held up another card.

"And now I activate its effect! I discard one card from my hand to place a 'Centur-Ion' from my Deck on the field as a Continuous Trap. I choose—Centur-Ion Trudea!"

The colossal banner pulsed, summoning a flaming ally beside it.

Trudea emerged, forged from fire and hope. She wore a sleek black suit that hugged her agile frame, pink flame-hair trailing wildly behind her like a tail. A silver horn-crown adorned her forehead, its crystal glowing with fierce passion. Embers and ribbons of flame danced around her, like extensions of her very soul. She smiled—not recklessly, but with a fearless joy.

She appeared in the Spell & Trap Zone, waiting for her moment.

"And now, once per turn—if Trudea is a Continuous Trap, I can Special Summon her! Come forth, in Defense Position!"

Centur-Ion Trudea — Pyro / DARK Level 4 | 1000 ATK / 2000 DEF

"But I'm not done!""Using her effect again, I return her to the Spell & Trap Zone—and call another ally beside her: Centur-Ion Emeth VI!"

A compact armored knight materialized, branded with a bunny emblem on its shoulder, one arm replaced entirely by a lance. It was motionless… dormant.

"Just like Trudea, Emeth VI can also be summoned! Arise!"

Trudea's flames surged, igniting his furnace-like core. Primera leaped onto his shoulder, planting her banner-lance into a special keyhole on his back.

"Spin on!"

Gearwork roared to life. Emeth VI awakened.

An armored sentinel, powered by Trudea's flame and guided by Primera's precision. His compact frame hid brutal strength, his lance-arm gleaming with magic steel, and his enchanted shield as silent as it was unbreakable. The bunny emblem on his shoulder added a strange softness to his intimidating size—like a guardian who protects because he cares.

He stepped forward, shield raised.

Centur-Ion Emeth VI — Machine / EARTH Level 8 | 2000 ATK / 3000 DEF

The boss let out a shaky laugh of relief."Hah… After all that flash, you summoned just a big shield. Whew…"

"Who said I was done? Stand UP, Centur-Ion!"

Trudea's flames spiraled into a pink vortex around Emeth VI. Primera crossed her arms atop the giant conduit. The knight's eyes blazed to life.

"I use the Level 4 Primera as Tuner, and the Level 8 Emeth VI as non-Tuner! Together, they become—"

A column of light burst upward, swallowing them both.

"Awaken, mechanical knight who cleaves the skies! The one known as—The Wild Rabbit of the West!SYNCHRO SUMMON! CENTUR-ION LEGATIA!"

Centur-Ion Legatia — Machine / LIGHT Level 12 | 3500 ATK / 2000 DEF

Legatia rose like a living vow.

Her armor was sleek, white with accents of gold, pink, and black—delicate yet deadly, a perfect fusion of fire, steel, and faith. Her legs curved like sharpened blades, every step poised to cut through fate. Floating turbine-shields hovered near her arms, wrapped in swirling magical flames.

At her waist, intricate blade-fans unfolded, glowing with pink fire, leaving trails like spiraling constellations—half heaven, half guillotine.

Her helmet crowned her with majestic, metallic rabbit ears fused from Primera's design, and twin tails of blazing pink fire streamed behind her like living banners. Her eyes—one golden, one vibrant rose—declared a truth with silent unity:

"We are here… together."

She was more than a monster.

She was a promise.

A vow that Hikari would never fight alone again.

The boss's goons trembled.

"A—A Level 12 monster?! That's seriously bad…"

"That can't be…" the boss muttered, drenched in sweat. "…How does she already have a Level 12?! I awakened five years ago and barely reached Level 8…"

Miyako smiled through tears of awe.

"So this is the monster that embodies your soul… Hikari."

"I activate Centur-Ion Legatia's effect! Upon successful Summon… I draw a card."

The boss sighed, relieved."So that's it… she just draws—"

"I'm not finished!" Hikari cut in. "After that, Legatia destroys the opponent's monster with the highest ATK!Giant Magic Beam!"

"What?!"

Legatia's waist-blades detached, spinning into a hexagonal spear. She aimed her hand, and a pink energy beam ripped through Battleguard King, erasing him to ash. The blades returned gracefully to their place.

"And now, Legatia—ATTACK DIRECTLY!"

"I still… I still have one more turn—"

"There will be no next turn. I activate—Limiter Removal!"

Legatia's flames roared skyward, her power doubling.

"Go, Legatia! Pierce the heavens with your lance—GIGA LANCE BREAKER!"

A floating shield snapped into her grip, transforming into a drill-like radiant spear. Legatia shot forward with a sonic crack, her golden-pink comet-lance ripping through the field.

The boss could barely breathe out a final word:

"I lost… to a… little girl? Me? …What a joke…"

Above him, a blue screen appeared:

BOSS: 0 LP

And then:

HIKARI WINS

The goons dropped Miyako instantly and rushed to the boss, as if only now realizing what had happened.

Hikari ran, crossing the debris without hesitation, and pulled her sister into a fierce embrace—hot, frantic, victorious.

Miyako collapsed into her arms. She sobbed uncontrollably, gasping for air, clinging to Hikari as if she might disappear.

"I thought… I thought you were… you…" she cried, pulling her closer, anchoring her to reality.

In the center of the destroyed arena, the boss knelt motionless, eyes empty. His fists trembled—not in rage, but in… vacancy. Like something inside him had fallen silent.

"Boss! Come on! The police are coming!"

He didn't move.

Then—sirens carved through the night. Two officers arrived, and a new duel field enclosed the criminals in a crystal barrier, sealing every exit.

"Hands in the air!"

The goons obeyed immediately, pale as ghosts.

One officer cuffed them and dragged them to the patrol car. The second approached the sisters. His voice was calm, almost protective.

"We came as soon as we detected an abnormally strong awakening. Looks like you dealt with a dangerous bunch. These guys are wanted in several cities… even in Neo Domino. We suspected they were hiding somewhere in Satellite."

He smiled—genuine.

"Thank you for helping us catch them."

Then, his tone grew professional.

"Normally, I'd have to take you both to the Duelist Management Office right now. But I can't leave that man without surveillance. So, by law, you two need to report there tomorrow to register her awakening. Understood?"

He scribbled on a notepad, tore off a page, and handed it along with a card.

"Here's the address. And this letter explains the situation."

Hikari accepted the papers without letting go of Miyako's hand.

"Let's go home… together," she said, exhausted, but relieved.

Miyako nodded, eyes still wet.

Hand in hand, they walked into the unknown, leaving behind the smell of smoke, the fading sirens…

And the ashes of battle.
