Chapter 102 - Ophis Wants Silence [102]

"Quick, retreat to the northern wall!"

Dodging swiftly to avoid a golden flash, Lily swung her holy sword to deflect the barrage of incoming weapons, then turned back urgently to order Uruk's soldiers

...

Outside the Blood Temple, the Chaldean group was making a frantic retreat.

The reason was simple.

Kingu stood in midair, her pristine white robes billowing violently in overwhelming energy, emerald eyes dyed crimson.

Everyone present could sense an aura clearly surpassing even Gorgon's!

After all their struggles, they'd mistaken who the true final boss was…

"Have Mash-san and Jeanne-san's defenses already collapsed?"

Lily clenched her teeth, dashed forward, and swung downward fiercely, intending to push Kingu back.

To Lily's astonishment, her holy sword sliced cleanly through one of Kingu's arms.

Before she could even process what had just happened, an intense wave of danger surged from the roots of her hair down her spine. Without hesitation, Lily rolled to the side.

A split second later, Kingu's severed arm transformed into a golden flash, slicing through the spot Lily had just occupied.

From the corner of her eye, Lily saw an enormous tree instantly disintegrated to dust by the passing golden streak.

"You—!"

Kingu gave Lily no chance to finish her sentence. Exploiting Lily's off-balance state, Kingu kicked her into the air, then waved her hand, creating several Noble Phantasms that shot toward Lily, who was helpless midair!

Clang—!

Puchi!

The sharp clang of weapons and the sound of blades piercing flesh came almost simultaneously. Lily crashed heavily to the ground from the tremendous impact, with daggers embedded deep in her right abdomen and left shoulder.

"You deflected most of them, huh?"

Kingu cast a cold glance at Lily, then raised a newly regenerated arm holding a golden chain.

Even so, Lily no longer had any strength left to resist.

"Alright, alright, that's enough of that!"

Suddenly, a massive winged serpent dove from the sky, the wind pressure forcing Kingu back slightly.

Yet, it appeared the serpent's target wasn't Kingu.

By the time the serpent returned to the sky, Lily had vanished from Kingu's sight. In her place stood a woman whose appearance clashed dramatically with this era.

"You want to stop me too, Quetzalcoatl?"

"Honestly… You're clearly a weapon, yet still driven by emotions. Are you sure that's okay?"

Quetzal didn't answer Kingu's question, instead smiling gently as she crouched slightly, taking a fighting stance.

"Hmph."

A cold gleam flashed in Kingu's eyes as faint golden radiance once again emanated from her body.

But at that exact moment, Kingu frowned slightly.

The next second, in the direction of Uruk, a violet pillar of light shot up toward the heavens.

As Kingu stared at that distant pillar, her crimson eyes briefly flashed golden, before fading away.

"Oh my, what could that be?"

Quetzal also noticed the pillar, but by the time she looked back, Kingu had already vanished completely.

"What is this thing!? This mana reaction is way too absurd! Wait, wait, wait—the equipment… Da Vinci-chan, please help meee!!"

Hearing Dr. Romani's panicked cries mixed with sounds of overloading machinery, Ritsuka sighed deeply.

It seemed they couldn't rely on the Doctor's support for now…

Gazing at the distant pillar of light, Ritsuka's face was tinged with worry.

Even though she'd mentally prepared for complications… things really weren't going smoothly.

What could possibly create a mana source powerful enough to overload Chaldea's sensors…?

"For now, let's hurry back!"

...

"Haa…"

Siduri gripped the staff tightly, sweat covering her entire body, her eyes shimmering faintly with violet light.

She could feel tremendous power continuously emerging from within after the initial agony had passed. Yet, even so, she still struggled to fully harness the immense energy in her grasp.

I can't afford to hesitate any longer!

Gritting her teeth, Siduri gazed southward through the eyes of the Dragon-Serpent.

Unimaginable, grotesque monsters beyond anything she'd ever known were rapidly charging toward Uruk.

The sheer number of these monsters was terrifying. Even from the dragon-serpent's vantage, she couldn't see the horde's end. Coupled with their revolting appearance, even a disciplined priestess like Siduri felt her mind shaken.

She couldn't bear imagining what Uruk would become if those creatures breached the city walls.

Determined, Siduri thrust the staff upward sharply.

"GYNN—!"

Responding instantly to her action, the dragon-serpent's majestic cry echoed across Mesopotamia. The enormous Ouroboros magic formation above blazed intensely, releasing explosive waves of mana that gathered before the serpent.

The Dragon God opened its massive maw slowly.

But at that instant, a golden flash appeared, and Kingu materialized directly in front of the dragon-serpent.

Siduri's heart trembled upon seeing this familiar yet alien figure through the serpent's vision.

Before Siduri could even react, Kingu's hand erupted with blinding radiance like a blazing sun, swinging downward in a devastating strike.

In an instant, a golden beam sliced across the skies above Uruk.

Yet this strike did not achieve the intended result.

A violet hemisphere of energy enveloped the entirety of Uruk, effortlessly absorbing the golden strike that could've cleaved mountains in half.

Kingu's face darkened slightly. Before she could act again, a massive impact slammed her violently into the ground outside the city.

The dragon-serpent roared in fury, its tail whipping around sharply, piercing the ground where Kingu had fallen, and hurling her back into the sky.

Immediately, the serpent opened its mouth wide, unleashing a torrent of violet flames that completely engulfed Kingu.

In the next instant, a streak of golden light broke free of the flames, pierced through the dragon-serpent's barrier, and disappeared far to the south of Uruk.

"Haa… haa…"

Inside the temple, Siduri gasped heavily.

Executing such precise maneuvers through the dragon-serpent had drained her immensely.

Yet… Though she'd successfully driven off Kingu, the battle wasn't over.

Siduri poured every remaining ounce of her strength into the staff.

High above Uruk, the dragon-serpent once more opened its gigantic jaws. Immense mana rapidly coalesced before it, forming an enormous sphere a third the size of Uruk itself.

Then, as the dragon-serpent released one final earth-shaking roar, the colossal mana sphere surged forth, plunging straight into the heart of the monstrous horde.

BOOM—!!!

An earth-splitting explosion immediately followed. Blinding white light tore through the heavens, and an uncontrolled storm of mana blasted outward, scorching and obliterating everything it touched.

Siduri collapsed heavily to the floor, losing consciousness. The dragon-serpent simultaneously vanished, but the monstrous army advancing on Uruk had been utterly annihilated!
