Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: A Hundred Birds Pay Homage, Jun Bai's Appearance

After a flash of white light, a loading bar depicting the seven elements appeared on the screen.

Once loaded, the game screen appeared.

The first thing to enter the players' view was a simple drawing of two meteors sketched on the beach.

"So, you've traveled here… from beyond this world?" A very cute voice spoke. The speaker was none other than Genshin Impact's mascot, Paimon.

After Paimon finished speaking, the game transitioned into a cutscene.

The Sustainer of Heavenly Principles, who bore a strong resemblance to the Herrscher of the Void, appeared, blocking the twins' path: "Outlanders, your journey ends here."

[Old Mi really recycled the Herrscher of the Void's model for this.]

[Major Herrscher of the Void vibes.]

[miHoYo, I want this!]

The twins were unwilling to halt their journey because of a stranger.

As the two parties failed to reach an agreement, a great battle ensued.

The twins, with glowing wings spread wide, wielded their signature weapons, dodging the dark red cubes released by the Sustainer. Then, seizing the opportunity when the Sustainer revealed an opening, the siblings attacked her in perfect sync.

The screen froze.

"Choose one of the twins."

Seeing this, Guinaifen started a voice chat with streamers she was on good terms with. This was agreed upon before the stream started: ride the hype of Genshin's launch by connecting and boosting each other's viewership, sharing the benefits.

"Girls, girls, who did you all pick?"

Silver Wolf, who had already progressed further into the story, said, "I picked the sister. The sister has higher damage—better for starting out."

The variety streamer Xing, right in front of Guinaifen, chose the sister: "Of course the sister. I felt a connection the moment I saw her."

The timid new streamer Huohuo: "I-I-I picked the brother. He runs faster… harder to hit."

Silver Wolf's colleague, the motherly streamer Kafka: "The sister. The sister looks more well-behaved."

Guinaifen's bestie, Su Shang: "Xiao Guizi, can't I pick the middle one? I've clicked on it so many times."

Skipping the last one, Guinaifen followed the group's advice and the principle of majority rule, going with the flow and choosing the sister as the playable character.

Then the story continued. The chosen sister was struck down, while the brother was captured by the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles.

The cutscene ended, returning to the story.

"And so, the unknown god took my brother away. I was sealed by that god, losing my original power."

"Having traversed countless worlds, we are now trapped here…"

"How many years ago was that? I don't know… But I will find a way to investigate."

"After waking up, I wandered alone until two months ago when I met you…"

On the beach, Lumine used a branch to draw simple pictures while telling the story. It wasn't that the drawings were unattractive, but without the narration, most people wouldn't even know she was illustrating the plot.

[The drawing skills are… touching.]

[Can anyone actually understand the story from these abstract drawings?]

The camera then focused on Paimon. The mascot flying in the air smiled and responded: "Yeah, I owe you for that. Otherwise, I probably would have drowned."

The screen showed the scene where Lumine fished an unconscious Paimon out of the water with a fishing rod.

Huohuo, watching this part of the story in the stream, pondered for a moment before timidly saying, "But she can fly, right? How did she fall into the sea while flying in the sky?"

[Sis Huohuo found the plot hole.]

[That makes so much sense. I never noticed during the closed beta.]

Then, the two in the game finished their conversation, and the beginner tutorial began.

As the only closed beta tester among the connected streamers, Silver Wolf didn't need to adapt like the others: "Ignore the guidance for now, delay it a few minutes. There's a precious chest over here."

"Be careful, don't sprint, or you won't have enough stamina."

Silver Wolf collected the precious chest behind the reef before returning to complete the tutorial. Even so, she was the first among the streamers to activate the Statue of The Seven at Starfell Lake.

Because everyone else was engrossed in the open-world gameplay, only Silver Wolf, having experienced it before, focused on the story.

Touching the Statue of The Seven, resonating with Anemo, unlocking the Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst. Then the screen darkened, transitioning into another cutscene…

Wait? During the closed beta, wasn't the cutscene only when you were on the way to Mondstadt City?

And wasn't Stormterror's appearance in real-time gameplay, not a cutscene? So what's this?

Silver Wolf was caught off guard by this development, which differed from the closed beta storyline, and instinctively sat up straight.

Teyvat.

After Lumine touched the Anemo Archon's Statue of The Seven and gained the power of Anemo, Paimon couldn't help but marvel. Then the two prepared to continue towards Mondstadt City.

But just then, the sky suddenly darkened.

Lumine and Paimon looked up and saw a scene that shocked them.

Birds from the forest swarmed out, converging in the sky as if by agreement, spreading out like a colorful cloud, blocking all sunlight.

A hundred birds flew in the same direction. The spectacular scene left Lumine and Paimon utterly astonished.

"W-What's going on? The birds are all flying in one direction…" Paimon flailed about in the air.

"Let's go check it out." Lumine calmed down and followed the flock of birds.

"Hey! Wait for me!" Paimon chased after Lumine.

Observing the flying flock in the sky, Lumine noticed the birds' flight speed was noticeably slowing. She realized she would soon find the cause of the avian commotion.

With a thought, the Dull Blade appeared in her hand. After resonating with the Statue of The Seven, part of her power had returned—enough to handle ordinary emergencies.

She just hoped it wasn't an extraordinary emergency…

All the birds descended toward the same spot. Lumine pinpointed the location, slowed her pace as she approached, and used the grass for cover as she moved toward the destination.

Hidden in the grass, Lumine peered through the gaps between the blades and saw the culprit behind the bird frenzy.

White hair, red eyes, a face full of youthful charm yet extraordinarily handsome, but his gaze held a sense of age that didn't match his appearance. Thousands of birds surrounded him. Their rising and falling chirps revealed heartfelt joy; the birds were delighted by the youth's presence.

A single fiery wing, spanning six meters when fully spread, extended from the youth's right side. Scattered red lights drifted from the tips of the feathers, emitting a sacred sheen under the sunlight.

The left side, where the fiery wing wasn't extended, was shrouded in the shadow of leaves, placing the youth at the boundary between light and dark.

He reached out his hand, and a finch landed on his outstretched index finger.

The youth revealed a smile, bringing the little finch close to his face. The finch affectionately rubbed against his cheek. The scene was quite beautiful.

Suddenly, the expression on the youth's face changed. His puzzled eyes looked toward the grass where Lumine and Paimon were hiding, and he opened his mouth as if to speak.
