Finding a path was a step in the right direction.
But being out in the open put them under pressure.
Everyone had to take turns watching. Although they took turns sleeping to make sure they were alert, the night was still tense.
Visha wasn't yet asleep. She watched as Uri patrolled, Xeno sitting next to her.
"You don't need to worry. He'll be fine," Xeno said.
"I know, but I can't help worrying that something will happen when I close my eyes." She looked at Xeno, her gaze warm. "I would worry about yout he same way."
Xeno's eyes sparkled. His eyes focused on Visha. "I know you would be Shasha. But I don't want you to worry."
He looked at Uri, who seemed to sense the gaze and looked back. Uri's eyes flitted between the two of them, his gaze steady as he took in the sight of the two people. As always, his gaze lingered before he turned back to continue his patrol.
Visha made a small sound, something close to a purr.
