Chapter 159 - .Forbidden condition

159. Forbidden condition

The tension at the table lingered—but Alpha suddenly laughed.

A short, rough sound.

Paradus followed with a slow exhale, lips curving.

Florence looked up, puzzled. "What?"

Amara narrowed her eyes. "Why are you two smiling like that?"

Alpha glanced at Paradus. "Tell them."

Paradus leaned back, arms crossed, voice calm but amused.

"Godmother added… a final condition to Elli's mission."

Marcelline shot them a warning look. "You don't have to—"

Alpha ignored it completely.

"She's forbidden from taking Lady form during the mission."

Silence.

Absolute.

Amara stared. "…What?"

Florence blinked. "Forbidden?"

Marcelline sighed, resting her chin on her hand. "It's not that dramatic."

Amara shot to her feet. "IT IS VERY DRAMATIC."

Paradus added dryly, "According to Godmother, it prevents… distractions."

Florence's eyes widened slightly. "Distractions?"

Alpha nodded, grin sharpening.

"Specifically—male ones."

A heartbeat passed.

Then realization hit.

Amara's mouth opened… then closed… then she burst out laughing.

"Oh my GOD."

Florence covered her lips, stunned—and then, to everyone's surprise, a soft laugh escaped her too.

"So," Amara said between laughs, pointing at Marcelline, "instead of trusting your discipline—"

Paradus finished, "—they removed the variable."

Alpha added cheerfully, "By turning her into one."

Marcelline rolled her eyes. "I agreed because it's efficient."

Amara wiped a tear of laughter. "No, you agreed because you're dangerous in every form."

Florence shook her head fondly. "They truly don't understand you."

Paradus smirked. "They think male form equals focus."

Alpha chuckled. "As if desire is the problem."

Marcelline's eyes glinted. "Exactly."

Amara leaned on the table, still laughing but sharper now.

"So the elders were scared you'd—what—fall in love?"

Marcelline shrugged. "They said 'future is impossible'."

Florence's smile faded just a touch.

"And what did you think?" she asked gently.

Marcelline met her gaze, composed, devilish even in calm.

"I think victory comes first."

Alpha nodded approvingly.

Paradus added quietly, "And feelings come whether permitted or not."

Amara exhaled, laughter finally settling into something heavier.

"…That explains everything."

Marcelline raised an eyebrow. "Everything what?"

Amara smirked. "Why Godmother's scared. Why you're smiling. And why my instincts are screaming."

Alpha laughed again—this time darker.

Paradus lifted his cup.

"To conditions that backfire."

Florence sighed, shaking her head.

"To children who scare the divine."

Marcelline smirked, unapologetic.

"And to hunts," she said softly,

"that don't care about form."
