Cain and Saphen happily shared a small little cake together, so sweet that Cain's mind no longer had much room for strange thoughts. The cake really was delicious—but because Saphen had bought it, because Saphen was right beside him, it tasted better than ever before.
At that moment, Saphen suddenly spoke up: "You're feeling happier again now, right?"
Cain looked at Saphen and nodded somewhat shyly. So Saphen had known all along that he wasn't happy?
Then Saphen asked again, "Then can you tell me why you were feeling sad?"
Cain pressed his lips together slightly. Saphen continued, "Was it because of Jake?"
Saphen had noticed that when he came back yesterday, Cain had still been in a very good mood—it seemed that the problem only started after Jake appeared. But Saphen didn't think Jake would do anything to Cain. In the end, all he could do for now was ask Cain directly.
