Chapter 164 - The Lawyer

Gianna peered into the driver's side mirror as the car eased to a stop outside the residence that was supposed to belong to the lawyer. 

The street behind them was empty. No tail, no shadowy figures. Not since she had climbed into the taxi at the airport had anyone followed them.

Had Zane gone home?

She scoffed, a bitter laugh slipping past her lips. I thought he didn't have shame.

Without waiting for Spider, who had been nothing short of a gentleman throughout this trip, she pushed open the car door and stepped out. 

Her tote bag was clutched tightly against her side, the weight of its contents reassuring—essentials packed meticulously, should anything go south.

 She let her eyes travel over the building they would enter.

A moderate block of flats. Five storeys high, paint mildly chipped along corners and balconies, but structurally sound and surprisingly clean for its modest appearance.
