Zane's mind had instantly gone gangster mode, triggered by the phrase that had been commonly used in those old bleak days in the underworld.
There was no change in his facial expression, only that his gaze became more intense than before, more interested, as he waited for Esme to clarify what she actually meant by 'I want you to take out Gianna' but the woman looked at him like she had been clear enough.
He was amused, he was annoyed in the same vein.
That she would think he would do anything stupid to hurt Athena's friend, thereby harming his relationship with Ewan, was amusing. That she thought he would be bothered with Gianna was annoying.
That and her audacity.
Had her brother's show given her some sort of backbone to speak to him? Or was it because of her knowing Laksh? Did she think him too desperate?
"Zane… you are not saying anything…" The casualness in her voice irritated him.
