"What kind of crazy female protagonist is this?!" Su Yan snapped, glaring at her phone screen. "And this Su Yan—seriously, why did my cousin have to use my name for such a foolish character?"She threw herself back on the bed, waving the mobile in the air. "She's literally being sold and still counts the money for them! I swear, this girl doesn't even know how stupid she is! Ugh, forget it, forget it. It's not even me. Why am I wasting my energy on her? Uh!"
She slammed the mobile off and tossed it onto bed with a loud thud."I'm not reading anymore."
Her phone screen lit up, and she froze. "Shit! It's already 2 a.m.?!" She groaned, rubbing her face. "Tomorrow's my first college day… I need to sleep!"
She stood up, yawning—only to twist her ankle."Aah! Damn it—" she gasped, falling forward. Her mind barely managed to think, Ah, it's over, this is going to hurt, before everything went black.
"Congratulations, Madam! You're two months pregnant," the physician said.
Bai Zhilan's eyes widened. "Really? It's finally here!"She turned to her husband with a bright smile. "Ah Jin, did you hear that? You're going to be a father!"
Su Jin's gentle smile spread across his face as he placed his hand on her stomach. "Yes, Lan'er. We're going to be parents. Our family will welcome a new life."
He stood up, tall and graceful, his figure bathed in soft light. Broad shoulders, sharp jawline, peach blossom eyes that looked like they could melt a glacier. The kind of man who looked like he'd stepped out of an immortal painting.
"I'm going to tell Father," he said, grinning. "And I'll get the ten-thousand-year-old white ginseng from him—it'll nourish both you and the baby."
Zhilan laughed softly, brushing a strand of hair from her forehead. Her skin was as white as snow, and her eyes were gentle and clear, like spring water, she looks like a fairy from ninth heavens."Go then, I'll ask Qin Ma to go to the Bai house and tell them the good news."
Darkness.Everything was dark, soft, and weightless.
"Where… is this?" Su Yan thought. Around her, colorful lights drifted like stars in ink. "Why is it so dark… and why are these stars moving around me? Am I… floating?"
Strange muffled sounds echoed through her. Then it hit her as she listened. "Wait… did I come into a womb?!"
Her thoughts spun wildly. "White ginseng… Su Jin… Bai Zhilan… hold on—aren't those the parents of the female supporting character from that novel, Journey of a Mortal Girl Through Immortality?!"
And then realization hit her like lightning."Oh no. Don't tell me I've been reborn into the novel… as that Su Yan?! The poor supporting character who gives everything to the heroine, gets betrayed, and dies miserably?!"
She groaned mentally. "Ha! No way am I living like that. Since I came here, this is my life now. I'll protect myself and my family. I'll ascend to immortality myself!"
She sighed. "In my world, I was an orphan. Only my cousin cared for me… I wonder if she's sad I'm gone?"
The floating lights drifted closer—bright white, fiery red, cool blue, soft green, deep brown, golden, purple, indigo, yellow, even black—each one glowing like a living flame.
"These must be spiritual lights," she remembered from the novel. "The heroine drank something similar… the Chaos Root fluid." Her face twisted in disgust as she remembered the truth behind it. "Right, made from sacrificing eight hundred pregnant women. And she cried a few tears and suddenly became a supreme fairy. Ugh. Thinking about it makes me sick."
"Forget it," she muttered. "These lights are pure. I'll take them instead."
She tried to open her mouth—then realized she didn't even have one yet. "Oh, right. I'm not fully formed…" she mumbled to herself. Then she concentrated, calling the lights toward her.
Slowly, all the colors spun around her tiny forming body and sank into her like warm sunlight.
Time passed in silence. The womb pulsed around her like a heartbeat. And then…
"Ah Jin! I'm about to give birth!" Bai Zhilan screamed, clutching her stomach.
Su Jin jumped to his feet. "Okay, okay! Wait—Qin Ma! Call the alchemist and midwife, quick! Madam's giving birth!"He ran to Zhilan's side, supporting her trembling body. "And send word to Father and Mother! Hurry!"
"It hurts…" Zhilan gasped, tears forming in her eyes.
"It's okay, Lan'er," Su Jin whispered, wiping the sweat from her forehead, his own face pale with panic. "Just a few more minutes, okay? Please, hold on."For the first time in his life, his calm, composed face cracked with fear. His hands trembled as he held hers tight. "My little princess," he whispered to her belly, "please come out safely. Don't make your mother suffer."
Inside the womb, Su Yan opened her tiny eyes. "Oh no, she's about to born!" she thought, glancing around. She saw beautiful round glowing orbs floating nearby and instinctively reached for them—absorbing their light right as the midwives burst into the room.
"Master, please wait outside," the elegant midwife said quickly. "We'll deliver the young miss safely."
Su Jin's expression darkened. "Nothing must happen to either of them. If anything goes wrong… all of you will die. Understand?"
"Y-yes, Master!" the midwife stammered as the door shut.
Outside, Su Jin paced restlessly, every scream tearing into him. His mother stopped him. "Calm down, Jin'er. You'll make everyone anxious."His father patted his shoulder. "She'll be fine, son. Just stand here."
They looked far too young to be parents of a grown man—beautiful and calm like immortals—but they were cultivators who'd lived for centuries. Even so, seeing their son panic made them smile softly.
And then—A baby's cry filled the air.
The heavens above changed instantly. Golden clouds gathered, birds sang, and the sky shone like the Milky Way itself. The entire Qilan Continent seemed to feel the joy.
"Congratulations, Master!" cried the midwife, tears in her eyes. "A little princess! Both Madam and child are safe!"
Su Jin's heart leaped as he took the baby into his arms. Everyone gathered around, gasping softly.
"She's so beautiful," Zhilan whispered as he handed the baby to her. "Most newborns look like monkeys, but look at her—like a little fairy."
Su Jin chuckled softly, kissing his wife's forehead. "Even the heavens are celebrating her birth."
Su Yan blinked up at them with wide, curious eyes. Wow, she thought. They're all so beautiful. She giggled, waving her tiny hand.
"She smiled!" her uncle Su Bai shouted excitedly. "My niece smiled at me—look!"
Su Yan turned her gaze toward him. He's really handsome. More handsome than movie stars or idols. Then her tiny heart ached as the memory of the book returned. In the novel, he dies trying to avenge me and our family… but this time, I'll protect him. I'll protect all of them.
Outside, the family laughed and celebrated, unaware that the baby in their arms already carried the memories of another world—and a fierce will to rewrite her fate.
