"Hmmm"
Drex hummed as he walked into the classroom room and noticed the rowdiness of the class.
It seems there's something buzzing on the internet and it seems to have caught the interest of everyone in the class. They were gathered at the back section of the class in groups, looking at their phones and chattering about it.
The only problem is they were being loud about it.... In his seat... He had to drag himself to class today despite the fact he didn't want to show up and what he saw made him regret showing up
*Sigh*
Without saying a word he decided to take another seat hoping the noise would die down soon.
While sitting, Vax walked in and and took the sit next to him he noticed that Vax had a similar reaction to him but the atmosphere between them was rather quiet. Apart from the rowdiness of the class they both didn't exchange a single word.
'Maybe he doesn't have the ability to speak. Could be his convenant? or a disability? Or maybe he just doesn't like talking'
They were both introverts true; but at least Drex was more of a mental talkative as a result he often displayed his extrovert side in his head insted. On the other hand Vax didn't look like he was ever ready to start up a conversation.
"They're that excited huh?"
Looking up, he saw Jax walking up to them.
"I.. guess so"
Was all Drex could say. Vax was quiet as usual.
"It seems paige was featured in her first commercial"
"I see...."
'So that's what she was doing when she came back that night'
"Yeah the commercial went viral and the company that had her do it are having huge sales. I heard her payment is 40% of the profit they make"
"That's quite the contract..."
As they were conversing, the classroom doors slid open and Rina walked in.
"Oh she's here!"
"Rina! We just saw the commercial"
"Yeah!! you did great!"
"You looked beautiful too!"
As soon as one classmate noticed her she was instantly surrounded by most of the classmates receiving compliments from each of them.
Drex just watched as the whole class showered her with compliments without saying a word. He was just happy to know that she wasn't too disturbed about what happened the previous day.
'Well it's a good thing she has people that will make her feel good'
Even though he didn't want to believe it, he was still disturbed from what she told him yesterday.
'But still being powerless for a month...'
He was deeply concerned. Surviving in this world won't be easy for people like her. As far as he knew, it would only make her a bigger target when devils find out.
As he was thinking this, his eyes fell on the crowd that surrounded Rina and their eyes met. When Drex realized this he intended to look away but before he did Rina gave him a smile; a very genuine one.
Undeniably it made Drex's heart pound as he stared back unable to react.
'Oh that...was actually kinda nice'
After the crowd dispersed, Drex decided to take a walk and get some fresh air.
Reason?
He had been feeling off all morning. He didn't know why but there was this feeling in his chest similar to how he felt whenever he transformed.
'why's this happening. Yesterday it was an arm today it feels like my chest is being ripped apart'
Walking towards a window he stared at his reflection slowly running his fingers over his scar.
'This scar.... I Know nothing about it and why that happened that day....'
Memories of the first day he transformed played in his head as he visualized the red demon and everything thing that had happened thereafter...
Suddenly it started again.. there was a heavy pounding in his chest and throbbing in his head. He clenched his chest and breathing heavily trying to calm himself down.
It proved futile as he stumbled forward trying to maintain balance as he placed his hand on the window.
He watched in horror as his arm started to mutate resembling a demon's hand, claws growing out threatening to break the window glass, his eyes were rapidly changing with a dark cyan blue color instead of the yellow ones, jagged teeth gree out of his mouth exposed and his scar growing wider and longer stretching to his chin and bleeding out.
"Nngh arrggh"
The pain shot through his enter body and just as he was about to loose it, it stopped.
Everywhere fell silent as he reverted back to normal...
'W-wha...'
Staring back at the window there wasn't any trace of his transformation. Even the blonde was no longer present.
'What the heck just happened?'
Confused he checked himself again and truly he was back to normal.
'What's happening'
"LET ME OUT"
Drex froze.....
"Huh?"
"LET ME OUT"
He started to quiver..
Indeed there was a voice in his head. The demonic tone sent shivers up his spine
"Why?"
Drex didn't understand but one thing for sure was that the voice sounded like when him whenever he transformed. There was an eerie feeling to this and he didn't like it.
'What really is this scar '
He decided not to dwell on this and head back to class.
'I'll have to ask the commander about this later'
As he was walking, he walked past a group of people and crossed eyes with a girl who seemed to be with them. But he didn't even wait a second later and kept walking.
"Who was that?"
The girl asked turning to the guy beside her
"He's that new hunter that was scouted a couple of weeks ago"
"I see..."
She smiled
With that they all made their way towards the classroom.
When Drex walked in he saw that his seat was still taken so he decided to sit where he sat previously.
"Yo bro what happened? You suddenly left did something happen"
Sitting down he was met with the question
"Huh? Oh no I'm fine just needed some air"
"Oh aight that's cool"
As he said that the doors flee open as a group of 6 hunters walked in
"Huh?"
"Oh it's them"
"Who?"
"Squad two."
"Squad two?"
"Yeah.. they're one of the well known squads in the academy because they're always on the front line"
"Ahh I see"
The moment they walked in everywhere fell quiet and some of the males started to fawn over a specific female in that group and the female in question seemed to enjoy the attention despite that she didn't look proud and her smile was genuine.
Jax noticed Drex's intense gaze.
"Mai Li. The captain of squad two and one of the most popular and beautiful people here"
Drex deadpanned . Jax continued
"She isn't the proud type but she has a sort of beauty complex meaning she gets agitated and sometimes pissed if she thinks someone doesn't find her attractive,"
"That's stupid"
Drex stated
"True but no one really minds because they think her reactions are cute
She's a born leader and a very powerful S rank.
So strong that she earned the nickname Channary."
"The Full Moon?"
"Yup.."
"So that means..?"
"Yeah she's the Moon devil hybrid "
"I see... But I haven't seen her around"
"Well like I said. They're always on the front lines. So they just got back from a two week long mission"
"Anyway you both came in around the same time so you must have met her already right?"
Looking closely Drex did recognize her.
"Well i think we might have crossed paths in the hallway so i didn't get to see her face but look at it now she's kinda cute..."
Jax grinned
" I'm surprised you actually said that... Usually that would be the kind of thing you'd say in your head"
Mai walked up to them.
"Oh hi. Welcome back "
Jax stated. Mai smiled
"Thank you it's good to be back"
She turned her attention to Drex and flashed a confident smile.
"You must be the noob I heard about"
"Hmm?"
When their eyes met her smile widened.
"Oh? You don't look half bad pretty good looking for a noob"
"Uh huh..."
The class fell silent again and some students started to murmur among themselves.
"What? He's completely calm"
"He's blind!"
"Can't he see how beautiful she is?"
"Is he gay?"
Turning his attention back to Mai who was still smiling.
"C'mon you could at least pretend to be interested..."
Drex was still silent.
'Why is she talking to me anyway... Isn't there some kind of stigma against hunters with lower ranks?'
"You know I'm a B rank right?"
Her smile grew even wider .
"Rank difference doesn't mean shit to me.. when I'm interested in something nothing else matters... Consider yourself lucky, I have taken an interest in you"
"I'm sorry what?"
She brought her face very close to his smiling seductively
"Prepare yourself you're in for a wild ride"
