Chapter 45 - Chapter 41 — The Sunset Duel

As I continued introducing Happiny to the viewers, something unexpected started happening.

One by one…

Then in entire clusters—

more Pokémon emerged from the thicket.

It quickly turned into a gathering.

The backyard filled.

Budew waddled out with its tiny steps, blinking at the camera lights.

Buneary hopped in groups, acting like energetic toddlers.

Roselia glided across the grass with elegant posture.

Oddish peeked out timidly, then rooted themselves in soft soil patches.

Then the Hoothoot hopped in with rhythmic precision.

Then the Murkrow perched along the fence, observing with calculating eyes.

The Grookey troop climbed onto the rocks and branches.

Pikachu and Mankey stood proudly beside them.

Two rhyhorn were also released from their pokeballs.

And finally—

Happiny, proudly showing off her polished stone, clung to Chansey's leg.

They stood in a massive ring around the lawn.

A natural arena.

A silent declaration:

They were here to watch.

To judge.

To accept or reject me.

The livestream chat exploded so hard the screen practically vibrated.

[Chat]

WHY ARE THEY LINED UP LIKE A COUNCIL??

IS THIS A TRIAL??

AAKASH ABOUT TO BE EVALUATED BY A JURY OF BUNNIES

I swallowed.

The sun was dipping… golden light spreading across the grass.

Time.

The forest rustled once—deep, heavy.

Then—

A pink figure stepped out.

Wigglytuff.

Not waddling like earlier.

Not pouting.

But walking forward with the controlled posture of a fighter who had been waiting for this moment.

His eyes sharpened the moment he saw me.

The crowd parted for him naturally.

When he reached the center of the circle, he turned slowly…

And faced me.

I gently placed Happiny down.

I walked toward the center.

Above us—A long shadow passed.

Pidgeotto.

She soared overhead, circling once… then tucked her wings and dove.

WHOOSH—

She landed between me and Wigglytuff, feathers spreading wide in challenge.

Her eyes locked onto his.

Wigglytuff smirked.

The wind stilled.

The crowd leaned forward.

The chat went insane.

[Chat]

PIDGEOTTO VS WIGGLYTUFF LET'S GOOOOOO

THE SUNSET MAKES THIS LOOK LIKE AN ANIME SHOWDOWN

I'M SWEATING AND I'M JUST WATCHING

I turned toward Chansey.

"Will you referee?"

Chansey nodded gracefully and stepped into the ring.

Her presence alone silenced the crowd.

She raised both hands.

"Channn… sey."

(Begin when ready.)

I breathed out.

Looked at Pidgeotto.

She looked back.

No words needed.

We stepped forward into the golden light.

"Alright," I said softly, "let's show this zone who their protector really is."

Chansey's arm cut through the air.

"CHANSEY!"

—BEGIN—

Wigglytuff moved first.

Not with the clumsy hops people expected from a balloon Pokémon—

But with a sharp, sudden burst of speed.

"Wiggly!!"

He spun, slammed his foot down, and the ground vibrated.

Double Slap—but each slap felt like a sledgehammer.

"Pidgeotto—up!"

WHOOSH!!

Pidgeotto soared straight up, narrowly dodging the shockwave of his first strike.

But—

Wigglytuff bent his knees, compressed like a spring—

And leapt after her.

Since when can Wigglytuff jump that high?!

The chat went insane.

[Chat]

BRO DID HE JUST SUPER-JUMP??

WHY IS A WIGGLYBALLOON DOING PARKOUR

PIDGEOTTO GET OUT OF THERE

"Quick Attack to the side!"

Pidgeotto blurred midair—Wigglytuff's slap missed by centimeters, creating a sharp whip of air.

She regained altitude, circling.

Wigglytuff landed with a heavy thud, sending dust flying.

This guy wasn't playing.

He pointed sharply at Pidgeotto and puffed up—

And suddenly—

His body burst with a shimmering pink aura.

"Wigglyyyyy…"

Oh hell.

Defense Curl → Rollout combo.

He curled.

Then launched.

A pink cannonball tore across the lawn at terrifying speed.

"Pidgeotto—Gust! HARD!"

Pidgeotto beat her wings with full power.

WHOOM!

A cyclone slammed into Wigglytuff—but instead of stopping, it sent him rolling even faster.

He ricocheted off a tree—Bounced off a boulder—Then came straight at her again.

Perfect control.

Experience.

A veteran fighter.

The chat was losing its mind.

[Chat]

THIS IS A BOSS RAID FIGHT

HOW IS THIS FAIR

HE'S USING REAL LIFE PHYSICS 💀💀💀

Rollout would only get stronger each time.

I clenched my jaw.

He had to be stopped NOW.

"Dive—Feint Attack timing window—NOW!"

Pidgeotto dropped like a missile.

She dove straight toward the rolling pink blur—

Five meters—

Three—

One—

She vanished—

Then reappeared behind Wigglytuff.

A perfect Feint Attack.

CRACK!

Wigglytuff bounced, tumbled, then rolled to a stop.

He wasn't defeated… just stunned.

Chansey watched with sharp eyes, ready to intervene.

Wigglytuff got up slowly.

Still steady.

Still determined.

His eyes narrowed.

"Wiggly…"

He inhaled deeply.

No…

No no—

"Pidgeotto—brace!"

Wigglytuff clapped both hands together—

DISARMING VOICE!

A shockwave of pink sound blasted across the field.

Pidgeotto screeched as the attack hit her chest.

She spiraled mid-air.

I felt my pulse spike.

She couldn't take many of those.

"Pidgeotto! Recover altitude! Use Sand Attack from the sky!"

She forced her wings open, flapping through the pain, gaining height.

Then—

She beat her wings downward, kicking up dirt and dust in a spiraling funnel that fell over Wigglytuff.

He flinched, blinded.

Perfect.

"Now—Wing Attack!"

Pidgeotto tucked her wings—

Then snapped forward, turning her right wing into a silver-blue blade.

FWIP!

Wigglytuff raised his arms to block—

WHAM!!

He slid back, boots digging trenches into the soil.

He exhaled heavily, one knee bending.

The difference in raw power was showing.

But he wasn't done.

He struck the ground again.

"Wig—glytuff!!"

Another shockwave.

"AGAIN! Wing Attack!"

Pidgeotto beat her wings, slashing down the shockwave midair and breaking it.

A clean counter.

I saw Wigglytuff's arms tremble.

He wasn't used to fighting opponents who didn't yield to his pressure techniques.

His breathing grew uneven.

Time to end this cleanly.

Without humiliation.

With respect.

"Pidgeotto—finish it."

She circled once overhead—

Wind gathering around her wings—

Then dove.

"STEEL WING—FULL POWER!"

The impact cracked through the backyard like a whip.

BOOOOM!!

Dust blasted outward.

Both Pokémon disappeared inside the cloud.

The crowd gasped.

The dust settled.

Slowly.

Pidgeotto stood, wings spread, chest heaving.

Wigglytuff lay on his back.

Eyes spirals.

Completely knocked out.

Chansey stepped in—

Pressed her hand once on Wigglytuff's chest, checking breathing—

Then lifted her arm toward Pidgeotto.

"CHAN—SEY!!"

(Winner: Pidgeotto!)

The entire circle of Pokémon erupted in cries, chirps, hoots, and chattering.

A roar of approval.

Pidgeotto looked toward me.

I grinned.

"You did amazing."

She puffed out her chest proudly.

I walked towards wigglytuff and used evergreen power.

Wigglytuff blinked awake, looked at Chansey's raised arm, then at me…

And nodded.

A deep, respectful nod.

Then he waddled forward, bowed slightly, and gestured to the Pokémon around him—

Acknowledging me.

Accepting me.

The chat broke into chaos.

Chansey stepped up next.

She placed a gentle hand on my arm.

"Chan…sey."

(You have our acknowledgment.)

Happiny clapped happily, almost falling over.

And just like that…

The entire zone—

my zone—

bowed their heads slightly.

I exhaled.

Not with arrogance.

But with responsibility settling on my shoulders.

I closed the stream then had mankey and Ritu bring out berries and pokeblocks from the storage room.

"Alright everyone… let's celebrate."
