Chapter 50 - Twin Souls

Spirit City, Pope Palace secret chamber.

Bibi Dong suddenly sat up from the bed.

"Xiao Xue…"

She then froze, reaching out to gently press her forehead.

"Was it a dream? Such a real dream."

She found it somewhat hard to believe.

With the strength of her divine soul, she had not dreamed for nearly twenty years.

So-called sleep was merely another form of breath-regulating cultivation.

Moreover, the torment to one's will brought by the Rakshasa God Trial could only be described as terrifying—she was simply unable to sleep peacefully.

And yet, in that dream just now, she had lived through more than ten years.

Although many of the details had already become blurred, several scenes felt as if she had personally experienced them.

"Qian Renxue… Angel God…"

Bibi Dong looked in the direction of the Enshrinement Hall, her expression uncertain and dark.

And the most crucial point was that core figure who appeared in the dream every single time.

Bibi Dong stood up and walked out of the secret chamber, summoning Ju Douluo to the Pope Palace.

"Yue Guan, have you heard of a person named Su Cheng? His age… around twenty or thirty. His martial soul is a sword, and he seems to have some connection to Sword Douluo."

"Su Cheng?" Yue Guan was slightly startled, inexplicably feeling that the name seemed somewhat familiar.

After pondering for a moment, he shook his head. "I've never heard of him."

"Is there such a person in the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect?"

"I'm not very sure about that."

Nodding, Bibi Dong did not say anything further. As she waved him away, she added one sentence, "Go check it out. If there's no such person, then forget it."

After Yue Guan left, her expression became somewhat dazed.

"Xiao Gang… Xiao Gang…"

She could not understand why she would have such a dream.

Had she already stopped believing in Xiao Gang's abilities?

Was Yu Xiaogang a weak, incompetent person who coveted fame and fortune, a fraud who deceived the world?

"How foolish. You'd rather believe a weak, incompetent fraud whom even his own clan was unwilling to accept, yet refuse to believe in Spirit Hall, which pulled you out of the abyss and nurtured you to grow up…"

"When both your parents were dead and you were scavenging for leftovers in trash heaps, that eldest young master of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, living in luxury and fine clothes, must surely have been able to empathize with you, right?"

The mocking voice of that person in the dream echoed in her ears.

"No, it wasn't Spirit Hall that redeemed me—it was Spirit Hall that destroyed me!"

The slightly ferocious look on Bibi Dong's face once again calmed down. She flicked her sleeve and returned to the bedchamber.

Only, once the seed of self-doubt had been planted, would it truly wither so easily in the soil?

Heaven Dou Imperial City, the prince's sleeping quarters.

The eldest prince, Xue Qinghe—no, it should be said Qian Renxue—opened her eyes in a daze.

Feeling dampness on her face, she raised her hand and gently wiped it.

"Teacher… why…"

At some point, she was already in tears.

Within the glimmering tears, there seemed to be faint shadows drifting.

Standing up, Qian Renxue looked around and realized she was still in the sleeping quarters, and she was not some Angel God.

She was merely a Soul Ancestor not yet at level fifty.

But compared to Bibi Dong, her memories from the dream were far more vivid.

Those more than ten years experienced in the dream were even longer than her memories in reality.

And there was that figure who ran through it all.

It did not feel like a dream at all—it was more like another life.

Although the ending was both tragic and laughable, the process itself was countless times happier than the present.

Qian Renxue raised a finger and gently touched her forehead; the sword shadow that pierced through her divine soul seemed to still linger before her eyes.

That sword strike shattered not only the divine position, but also her dream.

"It was just a dream. This was only a dream."

Qian Renxue murmured to herself.

"Hehe, just a dream? What a joke!"

Another voice rang out beside her ear, its tone very similar to her own—only much colder, carrying a slick, clammy feeling, like a venomous snake flicking its tongue and lightly licking the ear, giving rise to a strange stimulation.

"Who?!"

Qian Renxue was abruptly alarmed, lifting her gaze to look around.

"I am you, and you are me."

A pair of pitch-black eyes emerged within her heart, silently meeting her gaze.

"You?!"

A chill ran through Qian Renxue's entire body. Then she relaxed again. "So that's how it is…"

"Why not try the Severing Meridians Renewing Qi Method he taught you? You still remember how to use it, don't you?"

The other voice spoke again, its tone filled with temptation.

"I've forgotten," Qian Renxue said coldly.

"No, you haven't forgotten. You're just afraid."

This time, the voice carried a hint of mockery, clearly dissatisfied with her answer.

"If you don't dare to face it, then I will."

As the words fell—

A shadow rose from beneath Qian Renxue's feet and rapidly spread upward, dyeing her entire white robe pitch-black in an instant.

The entire process happened extremely fast. Qian Renxue had no ability to resist—or perhaps, deep down, she did not particularly resist it.

This was her other side.

She had always known of the existence of these shadows hidden deep in her heart.

From childhood, Qian Renxue had already learned how to put on a mask, how to conceal pain, how to dispel loneliness.

But such deception could fool others—it could not fool herself.

All negative emotions were sealed away by her, like throwing out trash, locked deep within her heart, gradually accumulating until today.

The black-clad Qian Renxue raised her arm, her palm moving swiftly like the wind, dazzling to behold.

"Look, this is the Severing Meridians Renewing Qi Method. Truly a genius-level creation. What do you think?"

"..."

The golden eyes deep within her heart stared blankly at this scene, containing a complex mixture of grief and joy.

"For the next period of time, you should rest for a while."

As Qian Renxue spoke, she stepped forward and walked outward. "I will find him."

"Young Mistress, what is this…?"

In the study, Snake Spear Douluo and Porcupinefish Douluo looked at the black-clad Qian Renxue with astonishment.

"Is that not allowed?"

The corner of Qian Renxue's mouth curved upward slightly as she smiled gently at the two of them.

Qian Renxue rarely smiled, but at this moment, these two Titled Douluo would rather she not smile at all.

Looking at the upturned corners of her lips and the cold, calm look in her eyes, both of them could not help but feel a chill rise in their hearts.

"Mobilize all resources for me and investigate one person. His martial soul is a sword, and his name is Su Cheng. Appearance, martial soul, name—if any two of these match, come report to me."

As she spoke, Qian Renxue picked up a portrait from the table and handed it to them.

Snake Spear Douluo reached out to take it, hesitation evident on his face.

"What? Can't you do it?"

Spirit Hall's influence spread across the entire continent. All soul masters were registered in the branch halls—investigating a person was not difficult.

"What about Pope Her Holiness's side…?"

"Hehe, since when has Spirit Hall been up to her to decide? I still have an account to settle with her."

The two exchanged glances and did not dare say anything more.

They felt that the young mistress before them was like a completely different person.

In a remote village in the southwestern region of the Heaven Dou Empire, Su Cheng also withdrew from the simulator and opened his eyes.

At this moment, he still did not know that Bibi Dong, Qian Renxue, and others had, to varying degrees, obtained fragments of memories from the simulated world.

Nor did he know that even the dark side hidden deep within Qian Renxue's heart had been awakened because of this.
